The Daily Life Of A Cyberpunk Magician

Chapter 44 - 42 Kirie’s Face is Slightly Red_2
Chapter 44: Chapter 42 Kirie’s Face is Slightly Red_2Speaking of which, fortunately, the office Mei Jie had given him was spacious enough—practically a bachelor’s apartment in size—so living in the Magic House wasn’t too cramped for him.

He cooked rice, heated the oil, added the vegetables, and Jiang Shu simply whipped up two home-style dishes.

”Clack—”The bathroom door opened, and Kirie Tsukimiya, having just installed the shower head, walked out. However, her complexion seemed a bit odd.

So Jiang Shu quickly used the Derivative Entry—Spirit Perception, then focused intently on Kirie’s heart.

It was...

A swath of red, with green compressed into a tiny speck.

What did this mean?

As he pondered this, he found his body seemed out of control, his head dizzy, and in an instant, he fell to the ground.

Damn, this Spirit Perception actually drained so much mana!

Just twice and he was already exhausted!

That was his last thought.

And the last thing he saw were Kirie’s eyes, filled with strange implications, and the four Tablet Spirits anxiously flying toward him.

Kirie watched vigilantly over the four Tablet Spirits surrounding Jiang Shu. Logically, after successfully using the Holy Water on her to confuse Jiang Shu, this would have been the perfect opportunity to attack. Moreover, she wasn’t sure if next time Jiang Shu would be cautious against the Holy Water.

But she dared not act rashly, all because of the four electronic creatures before her—namely, the Tablet Spirits.

She had noticed them before, and they seemed too bizarre. Normal electronic pets could never have such intelligence. Their vivacity was as if...

Someone’s soul had been placed inside them.

Terrifying.

—

When Jiang Shu woke up, it was already eight at night; he climbed out of bed and leaned against the wall for a good moment before looking around.

On the nightstand, the four Tablet Spirits were playing a card game, with scattered cards and disposable batteries as betting chips laid out in front of them.

Seeing this, Jiang Shu felt a surge of anger—as a magician and an experienced card player, he couldn’t stand others using his cards for poker!

Just as he was about to explode, a glimpse of a girl made him inadvertently soften his voice, and he angrily said to the four Tablet Spirits, ”Which deck are you using?!”

Alpha: Chill out, they’re not Prop Cards, just regular ones.

Jiang Shu felt slightly relieved, thankful it wouldn’t affect tomorrow’s performance, but still felt a pang of pain—ordinary cards shouldn’t be used for such games! Even his regular cards here were of high quality, the friction coefficient between them exactly to his liking, all custom ordered from the prop shop...

So expensive!!!

Ah well, it’s just one deck of cards, as long as they’re happy.

Jiang Shu didn’t pursue it further and instead turned toward the end of the bed, where there was a small stool. A girl was sitting on the stool, lying on the quilt sound asleep.

Kirie was still here so late?

He was a bit puzzled, but seeing the quilt over him and the still warm cup of water on the nightstand, he understood.

It seemed that after he had fainted, she had taken care of him. Speaking of which, that Spirit Perception really was a treacherous ability, having drained one tube of his mana just twice.

Thinking about it, Jiang Shu felt a bit of warmth. This Kirie Tsukimiya, although strange at times, was truly a kind girl.

So, he got out of bed, washed his face in the bathroom, then saw the dishes on the table which had long turned cold, and put them in the rice cooker to warm up a bit.

After tidying up the Magic House a little, he turned when he heard the ding of the rice cooker and walked to the bed.

”Kirie, wake up,” Jiang Shu nudged her, feeling her frailty the instant he touched her.

”Uh?” Kirie woke from a deep sleep, making a fuzzy sound like a small cat. She lifted her head, squinted her eyes, rubbed the corners with her hands, stretched lazily, looking lethargic and cute.

Jiang Shu averted his eyes as Miss Kirie wore a thin spaghetti strap dress. With one stretch, he unintentionally saw everything standing next to her.

”Don’t stare,” he reminded himself.

”It smells good.” The drowsy Kirie smelled the scent of home-cooked food on the table, saying subconsciously, then stood up, oblivious to the strap falling off her shoulder. She walked towards the makeshift dining table which was the desk, then plonked down, her eyes half-open half-closed, looking like she was eagerly waiting for something.

Jiang Shu served two bowls of rice and placed them in front of her, ”Hungry?”

”Can you use chopsticks?” he continued to ask, as there were still many people here who couldn’t use them.

Kirie was startled, widened her eyes to glance at him, blinked a few times, and her body suddenly shook violently. She stammered, ”Wh-why are you here?”

”This is my Magic House, remember?” Jiang Shu laughed, took a pair of chopsticks and a spoon and placed them in front of her, ”Here, have some.”

Kirie’s right hand moved slightly but was quickly held down by her left.

How can this be, my self-control is so poor. This Wizard simply tempted me a little, and I was already helplessly lunging forward.

She sank into deep self-disgust, but her nostrils involuntarily quivered.

It smells so good...

No! Kirie, pull yourself together!

”No...” Kirie was about to refuse with her mouth, but she felt something overflow; she hastily sucked it back in, ”Slurp—”

A tear shamefully rolled down from the corner of her mouth.

Kirie’s face turned ashen, and her hands dropped motionless.

Ding: A social death scene—

She cursed herself fiercely in her mind.

”Stop messing around, have some,” Jiang Shu pushed the savory ribs toward her, then sat down himself and picked up a chopstick full of stir-fried veggies.

Meanwhile, Kirie blinked, watching Jiang Shu chew and swallow the food, her mouth quickly secreting saliva, filling her mouth.

This fragrance, it must be witchcraft!

I wasn’t defeated by someone; I lost to the power of witchcraft.

Thinking this, she consoled herself and softly said, ”Then I’ll begin.”

As the ribs entered her mouth, her eyes brightened. Usually, she either ate cold sandwiches or instant food, and the occasional banquet she attended served only Western cuisine, totally separate from Chinese food.

However, according to Ruojie, although the common language in the Seventh District was Chinese, it mainly followed Western dietary habits. Even if there were Chinese restaurants, they served dishes like ”General Tso’s Chicken,” pseudonym of Chinese cuisine.

In the farther districts, there might be more authentic Chinese food.

Soon, under the whirlwind of their eating, the simple two dishes were swept clean.

Initially, Kirie, maintaining her dignity, refused to gobble the food down, but under the enchantment of witchcraft, it was irresistibly delicious.

”Burp—” Kirie belched, her face immediately blushed. She had never experienced being so full to the point of burping loudly in her life before.

But then she thought, Jiang Shu had seen everything about her; she hardly felt embarrassed anymore.

Sigh.

Kirie felt a bit weary at heart.

However, she didn’t consider herself Jiang Shu’s minion yet, so the idea of freeloading a meal was unacceptable. Thus, she conscientiously gathered the bowls and chopsticks and went to the sink to wash them.

”Uh...” seeing her so proactive, Jiang Shu felt relieved and didn’t say much else, instead, turning to work on the magic of tomorrow.

Tomorrow’s magic was mostly old tricks and props; nothing innovative, but the effects were astonishing.

He prepared to take out three decks of playing cards, the back patterns of which were identical except for the colors—black, blue, and red. From each deck, he selected thirteen cards, all from Ace to King of Hearts.

Then, he took out the anti-slip agent customized from the prop store, glanced towards the direction of the washroom, and seeing Kirie come out, abandoned the idea of making a Prop Card.

”Where should I put the cleaned dishes?” Kirie came out holding the dishes and asked Jiang Shu.

Jiang Shu pointed in a direction, ”Just put them in the disinfection cabinet on the floor over there.”

”Oh,” Kirie complied obediently.

”It’s pretty late, do you want me to take you home?” Jiang Shu asked politely, but he didn’t have a car. The so-called ”taking her home” probably meant taking a taxi together.

”Ah—” Kirie was stunned for a moment, then quickly shook her head, ”No need, no need.”
