The Daily Life Of A Cyberpunk Magician

Chapter 36 - 35 Turns Out I Am Naively Cute
Chapter 36: Chapter 35 Turns Out I Am Naively Cute”Sir, that’ll be two hundred Feather Coins,” the bartender said.

”Hmm,” Jiang Shu replied, pulling out a big five hundred bill. ”No need for change, include the room service fee.”

This kind of gesture should not be taken as that of a novice, right? It should be taken seriously?

Jiang Shu thought nervously. The five hundred denomination bill was the largest he had, and he normally wouldn’t use it.

In Lonely City, hackers ruled, which meant online payment methods were quite primitive.

”Sir, the room service fee is five hundred coins, paid every three hours,” the bartender said with a professional smile, not mocking him for being a newcomer.

”Oh, oh,” Jiang Shu hurriedly handed over another five hundred bill, now feeling a bit restrained, ”No need for change.”

Only he knew the painful sting of parting with that money had he to stretch seven hundred until next month’s payday. Thankfully, there was the leftover fridge from his sister, filled with plenty of food...

”Do you need any other services?” Seeing Jiang Shu did not mention anything, probably out of embarrassment, the bartender took the initiative to ask.

”Emmm, services?” Jiang Shu hesitated for a moment, then firmed up his resolve, sticking to the plan, ”I’m looking for Dicky. Have him come to my room.”

”Dicky?” The bartender was taken aback.

”Yes,” Jiang Shu nodded, pulling out police credentials and flashing them quickly before the bartender, ”I have urgent matters. This must not be disclosed.”

With those words, Jiang Shu turned and entered the private room, leaving a determined figure behind.

”Right, I’ll arrange that for you,” the bartender thought unexpectedly. The shy-looking newcomer was actually from the police station; no wonder he suddenly acted so wildly, making his heart beat wildly, his DNA all stirred up.

How impressive—

He immediately showed respect and decided to summon the jewel of the bar—the Angel.

—

In the back kitchen’s storeroom, Su Xiaoou stared alertly toward the entrance of the bar. She had been lurking here for three days. She knew very clearly that the bastard might come to the bar today.

That damn scum!

If it weren’t for him, Sister Ran wouldn’t have committed suicide. She was supposed to be Black Currant’s finest ballet dancer!

Su Xiaoou clenched her teeth, her breathing grew rapid, her eyes bloodshot.

That scum was only sentenced to three years in prison, his crimes were unforgivable! He deserved to die a thousand deaths!

She had been waiting for this moment for three years, to find him after his release and kill him with her own hands.

Huh, during his three years in prison, he had fallen for a man, now obsessed with the crown jewel of this bar—the Angel.

This scum secretly visited Angel every month, each time taking Angel away to his private residence for three or four days.

She had gathered this intelligence; thus, she applied here as a night janitor at the bar. According to her calculations, the scum was due to show up any day now.

Su Xiaoou didn’t want anyone to interfere, so these days, she had completely broken away from her usual life, vanished off the face of the earth, just to find the chance to finish off the scum.

She knew, once the scum was really dead, she’d be arrested for her movements over these three days, but she didn’t care.

If she hadn’t been unable to enter a male prison, she would have committed a crime to get in and kill him.

”Hmm?” While she was lost in thought, her peripheral vision seemed to catch a glimpse of a familiar figure, but it was just a quick glance, not clear.

”Jiang Shu...?” Su Xiaoou froze, then quickly shook her head.

Jiang Shu, that naively adorable guy, how could he possibly come to a place like this? I must have seen wrong.

Another ten minutes or so passed, just as she was growing bored, she suddenly saw the three-year-long object of her obsession.

Bald, potbellied, his repulsive fat cheeks and greasy outfit...

Her inner fury boiled over. She touched the handgun at her waist, a large caliber pistol she had purchased on the black market using her life savings. After three years of struggling through District E, she had finally saved enough to buy the gun.

Her misconduct had even reached Mei Sister’s ears, but fortunately, Mei Sister hadn’t abandoned her and had given her a chance.

Su Xiaoou narrowed her eyes, forcing herself to stay calm, or she would have charged and opened fire. But she knew that wouldn’t guarantee a quick death.

So, she waited for him to enter a private room.

However, things didn’t progress that way. The scum was angrily pounding on the bar, arguing with the bartender about something.

Moments later, the bartender kept nodding and bowing apologetically, and pointed him to a private room.

”Once he entered the private room and let his guard down after a few minutes, she planned to disguise herself as a janitor who had entered by mistake and take the opportunity to kill him!” Su Xiaoou made her preparations in secret.

——

Ten minutes earlier.

Jiang Shu took a sip of his drink, lay back on the sofa, and turned on the TV.

To be honest, the cocktail was not bad at all—sour and sweet, just like juice.

As the TV turned on, he frowned and flipped through several channels, finally turning off the TV in frustration.

What is this! Why are there only videos on philosophy fencing?! What channel had the previous customer set it to?!!

Such an eyesore!

However, he wasn’t there to watch TV, so he closed his eyes to rest.

Moments later, the door opened, and a man dressed provocatively, wearing cute little wings on his back, walked in.

”Ah, this...” Jiang Shu was stunned by his outfit, but after thinking about it, he rationalized that a bartender being fashionable wasn’t really an issue, right?

Person B: New concept fashion.

”Dicky?” Jiang Shu spoke up, pointing at him.

”Dicky?” The man was taken aback, then his face showed a dawning realization, ”Yes, yes, big Dicky!”

”Hmm?” Jiang Shu couldn’t hear clearly; the man spoke too quickly.

Doesn’t he speak Chinese?

In Lonely City, the prevailing language could vary by district, so this Dicky might be from another district.

Although he didn’t catch it all, Jiang Shu heard the ”yes” and assumed the man was indeed Dicky, so he felt relieved, waved at Dicky, and patted the spot beside him indicating for him to come sit for a serious discussion.

The angel walked gracefully toward him, his small wings fluttering charmingly behind him.

——

Su Xiaoou, wearing the bar’s signature top hat, carried a little red bucket in one hand and a rag in the other, slowly following the bald man in front.

She reached for the handgun at her waist, but just then, a customer walked past her, causing her to discard the idea of shooting there, as the corridor outside was too dangerous, and she couldn’t guarantee no interruptions.

”My darling angel serving someone else, damn that bartender!” the bald man grumbled under his breath, hastening his steps.

Ugh, typical jealousy, how disgusting.

So thought Su Xiaoou.

The bald man stopped in front of a private room, reached out to open the door, but suddenly bent down and peeked inside through the glass on the door.

Su Xiaoou walked up behind him, close enough to notice a strange red flush on the bald man’s face.

This is...

At first, Su Xiaoou was puzzled, but then she realized the perverse obsession some had with that sort of headwear.

As a minor, she had become accustomed to the filth of this city.

Since the bald man had already cracked the door slightly, the sounds from the room were heard clearly—

”Dicky?! No! No! God! Please!”

”Huh?” Su Xiaoou found the voice vaguely familiar, but before she could figure it out, the bald man swung the door wide open.

”Stop!” the bald man bellowed, blocking the exit of the private room, he stared into the room where his angel was chasing after a man.

”...”

He fled, he chased, neither could escape—

”...”

At the door, Su Xiaoou stared at the chaotic chase scene in the room, dumbfounded.

She recognized the man being chased—it was Jiang Shu. The immense shock made her forget what she was initially there to do.

It turned out, she was the one being naïvely adorable.

Indeed, the adult world was terrifying.
