The Daily Life Of A Cyberpunk Magician

Chapter 23: The entire District 13 was in chaos in Chapter 22”Notify all night shift officers, except those doing paperwork, all officers head to 421 Rue de Lys, Seksi Hotel. Patrol police should maintain minimum patrol intensity, the rest join up with public security police and armed police to head to Seksi.”

In a not-so-luxurious office, Tang Hexun was operating a massive virtual screen in front of him, which displayed the layout of the officers throughout the Thirteenth District. He was a T1-level Police Chief, in control of the entire police system of the Thirteenth District.

He contacted a large number of off-duty officers by various means, quickly organizing them to be sent to the Seksi Hotel.

”Please don’t let anything happen,” Tang Hexun muttered worriedly, his brow deeply furrowed. But now, there was nothing else he could do.

If this transport squad from the Seventh District had an incident in the Thirteenth District, the consequences were truly unimaginable.

No one could take responsibility for such an event, having a severe terrorist incident occur in his jurisdiction. Even offering his resignation would be considered leniency given his past effective governance.

Are these disciples’ brains filled with shit?!

Even with his patience, he couldn’t help but curse inwardly. Who the hell would expect the Mechanical Disciples to join forces with the Deception Group? You’re not even from the same district! And who would think the Mechanical Disciples would dare to strike at police officers?!

”After this time, we will not let you off no matter what!” Tang Hexun gritted his teeth, packed his gear briefly, and quickly left the office.

Fortunately, he was still working overtime at this point in time, able to mobilize police forces as quickly as possible. If he had already finished his shift, the reinforcement to the Seksi Hotel might have been delayed by another five minutes.

Five minutes was already enough time to determine life or death.

Meanwhile, not only Tang Hexun’s police station, but the Terrorism Control Bureau of the Thirteenth District also sprang into action late at night. Lights blazed as the director rapidly contacted the still sleeping members of the Violent Terror Mobile Team, all the while praying that nothing would go wrong at the Seksi Hotel.

Within a mere five minutes, the Thirteenth District had descended into chaos, with the entire area’s military forces converging like a great river, rushing non-stop towards the Seksi Hotel.

——

Somewhere on a rooftop, a youth wearing a half fox mask sat on the edge of the terrace, swinging his legs back and forth. Directly opposite him, in the slightly lower building, was the Seksi Hotel.

From where he sat, he could clearly see that about a kilometer away on Rue de Lys, black and blue car squads approached from two directions towards the area, but...

Traffic had come to a standstill.

Rue de Lys was already the most luxurious part of the district, and traffic jams were both unexpected and expected.

The fox couldn’t help but let out a chuckle; he rested his chin on his hand, squinting at the floors of the Seksi Hotel opposite him. The corridors there were sound-activated and should have been pitch black at night, but now they were lit up, meaning—

Someone was there.

”Tap tap tap—” Footsteps sounded behind him, and without looking, he knew who it was, ”Devil Wind, is Ryan taken care of?”

”All set, in the basement,” the arrival answered flatly.

”Good.” The fox turned around, looking up at the towering figure of Devil Wind, and smiled, ”Did you bring the wing suit I asked for last time?”

”Uh-huh, are you going over there?” Devil Wind threw him a set of leather gear, ”It’s dangerous there.”

”I know, but whether it’s us or someone else against the Mechanical Disciples, I gotta lend a hand.” The fox laughed, putting on the wing suit and, with his back to Devil Wind, took off the mask, putting on goggles that covered half his face.

He looked back at Devil Wind: ”We can start preparing the props for the next plan.”

”Understood, it’ll be ready by next week.” Devil Wind nodded.

——

”Hey, are you sure they’re on this floor?” Jiang Shu poked Wolf and whispered.

There was no sign of the three of them in the surveillance on this floor, and it was unclear whether they were in a blind spot or not on this level at all.

Wolf’s finger slipped off the trigger, wiped the sweat from his hands on his body, and he spoke in a low voice, ”They should be, but this place is huge, and I’m not sure where they are right now.”

”I notified them before, told them to go into the bathroom and hide in the bathtub,” Wolf continued, ”Hercules’ Prosthetic Eye is equipped with thermal sensing that can see through walls, hiding in the water might cause them to make a misjudgment.”

”Shh!” Jiang Shu suddenly interrupted Wolf urgently, as the display on their gear indicated that three mechanical disciples had just emerged from a nearby secure passage, heading straight for their location.

”This... we’ve been spotted,” Wolf quickly figured out what happened. He calculated the position, stepped out of the storeroom, and pointed his shotgun in the direction the mechanical disciples were about to appear.

A shadow flashed, and Wolf decisively fired; after two ”bang bang” shots, he immediately retreated to hide around the corner.

The mechanical disciples simply flashed by and threw out two fire extinguishers, which exploded when hit, and the hallway was immediately enveloped in smoke, obscuring visibility.

”Damn it!” Wolf cursed.

He quickly retreated, ”Let’s leave first, my Prosthetic Eye’s thermal imaging can’t compete with the military’s equipment; we can’t fight here.”

Three figures emerged from the white smoke while the two quickly left the corridor. As the three disciples continued to follow behind, Jiang Shu’s doubts grew.

He couldn’t help but say, ”Who exactly are these three targeting? It feels like they’re aiming for us everywhere.”

First, they went upstairs but didn’t break directly into the room; instead, they went to get fire extinguishers. After finding them, they didn’t split up but chased after them together...

”I’m not sure, but this is better, at least it’s better than hurting our colleagues,” Wolf replied.

Inappropriate as it was, Jiang Shu still wanted to say...

Is this good? This is not good!

He thought they were coming up to watch the show, maybe even manage a sneak attack using ”Shadow Cutting” to take one down, but who knew it would be like this?

”We split up.” Wolf suddenly stopped at a corner, ”You go through the safety exit first, I’ll hold them back.”

”Okay.” Without hesitation, Jiang Shu knew his limitations and that he would be a burden here, possibly affecting Wolf’s performance.

He had acquired his superpower two days earlier and was full of confidence, feeling he could beat Wolf. Now he realized he was no different than that Sliding Fighter; the combat power level here is nothing like his previous life. Wolf, from the non-combat sequence T2, combined with his deliberately cultivated techniques, could now easily take on a fierce tiger single-handedly.

On this thought, the superpower brought by Deception was clearly not enough; without Wolf’s level of combat power, the Deception cases were still too dangerous for him.

As he ran, Jiang Shu also slowed to a stop. The surroundings gradually quieted down, and the bright light from above gave him a sense of security.

”Bang, bang—”

Sharp gunshots came from a distance, followed by the disciples’ angry roars and the dull sound of heavy punches hitting the wall.

This... Wolf won’t have any trouble, right?

Jiang Shu was slightly concerned.

”Jiang Shu, run, one is coming for you!”

”I can’t hold them back!”

Wolf’s roar instantly pulled Jiang Shu back to reality.
