The Daily Life Of A Cyberpunk Magician

Chapter 33 - 32 Here’s Johnny!
Chapter 33: Chapter 32 Here’s Johnny!Kirie Tsukimiya hadn’t been sleeping well these past few days.

Since the day she witnessed the witchcraft scene, she had been using her authority to collect relevant data throughout the entire city. There wasn’t much useful information, but she read a lot of related novels, like ”Evil Wizard Wiznan,” ”108 Ways Witchcraft Tortures You,” and ”Urban Legends: Wizard” and the like.

So, immersed in such an atmosphere, she began to suspect that she had been discovered, and every night in her nightmares, she had content about wizard´s punishments.

As a staunch materialist, she shouldn’t be thinking about these things, but as the nightmares came on their own, she had no choice.

However, even with that kind of witchcraft...

It can be explained by science, right?

”What are you doing?” a familiar voice asked.

Kirie Tsukimiya was chewing gum, scrolling through short videos on Prosthetic Eye, and when she caught a glimpse of Jiang Shu from the corner of her eye, she was immediately startled and took several steps back, swallowing her gum.

Jiang Shu! That wizard! That day I was indeed discovered! He really came to find me! Ignoring even the commendation meeting! What to do!

”Hey, is that necessary? Are you trying to dine and dash?” Seeing her like this, Jiang Shu became alert all of a sudden and stepped forward.

He couldn’t let this equipment slip away.

”Cough, cough—” The gum got stuck in her throat with her saliva, and Kirie, unable to speak, became even more panicked, desperately trying to get the gum out.

”You...” Jiang Shu started to speak again.

”Cough, puh—” With a short cough, the gum uncontrollably shot out of her throat through her mouth and stuck onto Jiang Shu’s face, who was only an arm’s length away.

Jiang Shu’s smile froze.

B: Interruption of spellcasting.

Kirie Tsukimiya froze.

These past few days, she had been pondering whether she had been discovered that day. According to urban legends, those evil wizards turn beautiful girls strange, um, the really bizarre kind of strange.

I’m going to die.

Why did I leave the lab knowing that I would meet him?

What will a cunning, calculating, psychopathic wizard like him do to me?

Will he hang me up, then slice away at my shadow inch by inch, letting me feel the quirkiness of witchcraft; or will he create a torture chair, shackle my hands and feet, and then interrogate me softly and slowly about what I saw, giving me both mental and physical pain; or maybe chew a big wad of gum and seal my mouth and nose, suffocating me, letting me perish amidst endless desires?

Kirie’s heart skipped a beat.

They say, Wolf went on a business trip with him, and a Thirteen District officer nearly died, still lying in a hospital bed...

If it weren’t for that unlucky guy, would the one dead be Wolf?

Just now Wolf asked me to help this guy find someone; he must have been forced to, right?

Poor thing.

No, the one to pity now is me; I actually dared to offend him, I, I, I...

”You...” Jiang Shu was about to speak again.

Kirie’s mind was in turmoil, and then she turned and dashed away like her life depended on it.

”...” Jiang Shu was stunned again, speechless. His second spellcasting once again silenced.

C: Striking twice with the same tactic.

This woman...

She spit gum on my face and then ran away?

And with a look like she’s seen a ghost?!

You fucker!

Jiang Shu touched the sticky gum on his face, grabbed it, and chased after the frantically fleeing Kirie.

”Stop right there!”

”Help!”

The chase unfolded in the station’s corridors, and since most of the officers were in the conference room for a commendation meeting, even though Kirie was screaming, no one paid any attention.

The Jiang Shu following close behind grew angrier and angrier as he listened. You dare to cry for help?

But as he pursued her, he gradually realized a despairing fact—he, a fully grown man, couldn’t outrun Kirie.

When Jiang Shu came back to his senses, he found himself deep inside the police station, at least now he had no idea where he was, and Kirie was no longer in sight.

”Kirie Tsukimiya! Come out!” Jiang Shu shouted, pulling a piece of paper from his pocket and wiping the saliva off his face.

Only a deadly silence mixed with the cold light responded to him; no, there was also the barrage of comments from Xiao Yi.

Xiao Yi: I was extremely angry all day once when I was extremely angry.

Jiang Shu glanced at his left hand; he hadn’t thrown away the chewing gum, which certainly wasn’t for collecting, but rather for an eye for an eye.

After some thought, he decided to change his approach; with such fierce words, Kirie certainly wouldn’t come out willingly.

”Kirie-chan—”

”I’m not angry—”

”Please come out—”

”I have something to tell you—”

—

His footsteps echoed in the silent corridor, his calling as gentle as a mother’s whisper before sleep, a smile on his face, he sidestepped with his left hand holding the gum behind his back, slowly emerging from beneath the light.

”!!!” Hiding in a miscellaneous room somewhere, Kirie shrunk back, nervously twisting her fingers.

It was over; all her gear was in the laboratory, and now it was totally impossible to defeat this Wizard.

”This seems to be a dead-end.” Jiang Shu saw the end of the corridor.

That is to say, Kirie was hiding in one of these four rooms in front of him.

He observed the rooms for a moment. They all seemed to be storerooms, not very big, and each door had a small barred window which allowed him to see inside.

”Come out, Kirie-chan.” Jiang Shu emitted a giggling sound, ”ge ge ge,” ”You can’t escape...”

”Let me guess... are you in here?” He turned his head to look inside the first storeroom, only to see clutter and made an annoyed noise, ”Not here.”

Jiang Shu turned to the second room, ”Then... are you in here?”

Kirie was trembling; she wasn’t sure if this trembling was out of fear, but in any case, she could feel her heart racing.

”Bum bum bum—bum bum bum—”

It wasn’t a deer crashing around but a pig charging forward.

She leaned against the door, probably the only position that could block the angle of view and remain undetected. She collapsed there, every inch of her muscles soft and powerless, all urging her to give up resistance.

”Da, da, da—” The footsteps stopped in front of the third room, heavy breathing passing through the barred window into the storeroom.

Kirie collapsed onto the floor in despair, she wasn’t religious, but at this moment, she was calling out to God’s name frantically in her mind.

”Here’s Johnny—” Jiang Shu pressed his face against the bars, his features twisted, eyes peering inside.

Kirie sat numbly on the ground, her body jolted at Jiang Shu’s shout, then went still.

”...”

Still.

”Emmm... No way, is she broken?” Jiang Shu rubbed his chin, was this really necessary? He was just playing a part from ”The Shining,” right?

Compared to spitting out gum in someone’s face and then running away, scaring someone like this shouldn’t be that big of a deal, right?

He pushed Xiao Jia through the gap of the window to open the door from the inside.

The storeroom door opened; Kirie stood in the doorway, her heart filled with sorrow, she understood she couldn’t escape. In this resignation, her fear dissipated and turned into a novel sensation.

The rapid secretion of dopamine made her feel somewhat warm, even a tangible comfort.

Whatever you’re going to do, I won’t yield.

”Come on.” She looked up at Jiang Shu, her body half in darkness and half bathed in the warm light, looking utterly holy.

”Hmm?” Jiang Shu paused, instinctively saying, ”Seems like you know what I’m going to do.”

In Kirie’s eyes, this evil Wizard cackled, ”Heh heh heh,” speaking softly, as though everything was under his control, he raised his left hand, between his fingers was a wad of chewing gum.

So it is, he really intends to suffocate me to death.

Kirie closed her eyes, holding her breath, waiting for the punishment that was yet to come.
