Earth's Greatest Magus

With his high soul power, Emery penetrated the half-moon dark elf’s mental defenses within minutes, pushing past layers of resistance to extract every detail lurking within.

He sifted through surface memories and deeper thoughts, searching for critical information. As expected, the dark elf patrol captain had been intentionally kept out of the loop on any high-level strategies—a common tactic to prevent such extraction efforts. But even with limited intel, Emery still uncovered valuable insights: updated details on patrol rotations, and a comprehensive map of the current border routes and defenses.

Armed with this information, Emery quickly plotted their next move. He meticulously charted a route that would allow them to intercept another patrol, selecting an area that offered both tactical advantage and cover. Before long, they encountered a patrol group: thirty wyvern riders, led by four magus, sweeping through the air in a precise formation. Emery and Klea were ready.

As the dark elf patrol entered their ambush zone, Klea unleashed a thick mist that blanketed the skies, masking the acolytes’ movements. At the same time, Emery used spatial bending to disorient the group, subtly manipulating the air currents and dimensions to trap them in an invisible cage. Without the chaotic presence of the orcs, the fifty acolytes were able to confront the thirty saint-level dark elves with much greater effectiveness. Their superior numbers and coordinated teamwork soon overpowered the enemy, though the wyverns remained a formidable threat—their powerful jaws snapping and their wings whipping up fierce gusts that battered the acolytes.

“I’ll take care of those for you,”

Emery summoned multiple vines to bind the wyverns one by one as he captured them like giant birds in a net. Their roars of defiance echoed as he secured them within special cages in his domain.

As the last wyvern was subdued, Emery turned to his acolytes with a satisfied nod. Another victory was theirs, and with each battle, their ranks grew stronger, more disciplined, and better prepared for the larger wars yet to come.

After the skirmish, Magus Vorlax could only watch with a resigned sigh as Emery pressed on with his strategy, opting to intercept yet another dark elf patrol. The detour added an extra day to their journey, but Emery remained unfazed, focused on his goal to harden the acolytes through intense, real combat. Each one had now experience in defeating a dark elf warrior and dozens of orcs, pushing them to confront their strengths and limitations. Their hard-earned victories were reflected in their rank. [Top Hall Ranking – Day 3/30]

[1st Place: Hall 6 – 25,110 Points] [2nd Place: Hall 2 – 16,820 Points]

Hall 6 had established a significant lead, securing their place at the top for the foreseeable future. “That should be enough,” Emery declared with a note of satisfaction

The acolytes were undeniably exhausted, yet something deeper had changed in them. Like metal tempered in the flames, they had been molded by these relentless encounters, their confidence and combat instincts sharpened. Understanding the importance of this moment, Emery handed each acolyte a restorative pill, specially crafted to aid their recovery and enhance their cultivation. His voice was calm but insistent. “Reflect on what you learned in battle.”

The acolytes settled into quiet meditation as the sand boat sailed through the desert night.

Leaving the other magus behind to guard the sand boat, Emery made his way back to his domain, the air humming with the energy of his recent victories. Upon entering, he was met with a sight that both thrilled and satisfied him: 50 wyverns, captured and contained, their powerful forms thrumming with potential. He decided to entrust their taming to Durak and his dark orc forces. If successful, these wyverns would significantly enhance their combat capabilities, transforming them into a formidable force on the battlefield.

Turning his attention next to the shadowy prison deeper in his domain, Emery proceeded with quiet resolve. Here, three half-moon magus captains lay in containment, restrained but conscious, their expressions betraying a mix of anger and dread. They knew well the fate that awaited them, yet Emery wasn’t alone this time. Accompanying him was a female dark elf, Lyanna Darkmoon.

“Here you go,” Emery said, gesturing toward the captives. “You can choose any of them… all in prime condition.”

Lyanna’s sharp eyes swept over the prisoners, her lips curling in disdain. “Seriously… I’ve waited a decade for you to make good on your promise, and this is what you offer? These lowly Drows?” Her voice dripped with contempt. “I’d consider it if you had a full-moon Dunmor… and find me a female!!”

Emery exhaled slowly, “Are you sure?”

“Yes,” Lyanna replied without hesitation, her gaze icy and unyielding. “I would rather wait than squander my chance on these pieces of trash.”

Lyanna was not merely any dark elf noble—she belonged to the revered Durokhai lineage, a race endowed with a supreme bloodline that granted immense power and prestige among her kind.

She had been residing within Emery’s domain for more than ten years, where the constant infusion of Khaos energy had elevated her to the peak of Full Moon magus strength. But to unlock her full potential, she needed something more: a compatible, powerful body to house her formidable soul and sustain the magnitude of her abilities.

Emery was well aware of her predicament, it was a crafted strategy, subtly weaving Lyanna’s loyalty and dependence deeper into his own plans. Together, they began interrogating the captives, prying into every sliver of useful information that might point them toward a fitting candidate within the dark elves’ ranks on this war-torn planet. The captives stammered, their loyalty warring with the instinct for self-preservation.

This was Emery’s hidden agenda for joining the exam. Not only did he wish to fulfill his promise to Lyanna, but he also aimed to infiltrate the dark elves’ network, embedding himself within their ranks to gather insights valuable not only for this exam but also for his future endeavors.
