Earth's Greatest Magus

Earth had been particularly peaceful over the last few months.

The success of the previous year’s pirate campaign, combined with the merit points earned from teaching at the academy and months of diligent work, had finally paid off. The Earth faction managed to accumulate the 100,000 merits required to establish an official Magus Alliance teleportation gate at the Earth-Moon Base.

This gate was a major milestone, allowing the Earth-Moon base to connect with three strategic outposts across the sector. It significantly enhanced the faction’s reach, ensuring greater accessibility and bolstering their security. The permit for the gate had arrived just a few weeks prior, and construction was already underway.

Master Borin, personally offered his expertise to inspect the project, determined to perfect his work of art. Daily, multiple ships and workers arrived at the base, their activities overseen by the Talami Twins, Yama and Yami. Now both in their full moon stage, they appeared formidable as they monitored all arrivals and ongoing projects with a keen eye.

At that moment, the Moonbase staff reported the approach of a vessel. The Twin Magus were quickly dispatched to confirm its identity, but they found nothing.

“There’s no ship… are you sure you saw one?”

“I’m sorry, Magus, I thought I saw something before… my apologies.”

One hundred miles east of Egypt, beneath the ruins of the fabled city of Babel.

Earth’s most powerful figure, the Eastern Sage Fuxi, sat in a lotus position within a mystical subterranean forest. This hidden realm, deep underground, had become a second home to him, a place he had returned to time and again over the years. Here, he cultivated his power while painstakingly studying the intricate tier 8 formation barrier embedded within the site.

The formation was both a marvel and a menace, its complexity surpassing anything he had ever encountered, even as a master of formations. For the past five years, Fuxi had dedicated himself to unraveling its secrets, making gradual progress despite the challenge.

In recent months, his obsession had deepened. After countless attempts, he had finally managed to break through the barrier a few weeks prior, only to discover that it swiftly reformed, revealing itself as a multilayered defensive mechanism. Yet, the brief moments during which the layers were down provided him with invaluable insights.

Now, as he sat in quiet contemplation, the weight of his discovery settled upon him. He was close—closer than ever before. The knowledge he had gained from that brief glimpse had brought him to the brink of fully deciphering the formation’s intricacies. With the eye of the formation almost within reach, Fuxi felt a renewed sense of determination. Soon, he believed, he would shatter the barrier completely, unlocking the mysteries hidden within this ancient place.

While deeply immersed in his work, Fuxi felt a subtle ripple in the air.

His intricate formation setup allowed him to sense any presence within the cave and even detect magus passing through the sky above Earth. However, the particular presence he sensed this time brought a knowing smile to his face.

A young monk entered the cave with a polite bow, his steps silent and respectful as he waited for Fuxi to acknowledge him. The sage spoke first, his voice calm and welcoming. “Have you comprehended the last text I gave you?”

The monk, none other than Damo, replied with humility, “Yes, Master, I have. But it has led me to more questions… I apologize for my lack of talent.”

Fuxi chuckled “Hahaha, …you have comprehended the Sutra in less than three months. With the right guidance, you could one day be even stronger than me…”

Since graduating and returning to Earth, Damo has been under Fuxi’s mentorship. Over time, their relationship had deepened, with Damo regularly visiting to share updates from the outside world and receiving valuable lessons in return. Fuxi had formally accepted him as a disciple.

With a teasing glint in his eyes, Fuxi added, “If you weren’t a monk, I would have chosen you as a partner for my daughter Naya.”

Damo’s face flushed “Master… please don’t make such jokes…”

But Fuxi only laughed more heartily. “Hahahaha, I’m not joking. Don’t waste your life as I have, or as your master Ashaka did. Follow your seniors… and you will have a bright future ahead of you.”

As Fuxi and Damo engaged in their casual conversation, the atmosphere suddenly shifted.

Damo noticed Fuxi’s expression change drastically—fear flickered in the sage’s eyes. Fuxi’s voice trembled slightly as he urgently commanded,

“Move back…”

Before Damo could fully process the situation, a figure appeared, seemingly walking on air above the subterranean forest.

The man was old, with a long beard and a distinct golden mark on his forehead. His appearance was unassuming, but the sheer silence of his steps and the lack of any detectable ripples in the air made Damo instinctively retreat. Even Fuxi, usually composed and unshakeable, appeared visibly unsettled.

The fact that his formation had failed to detect this person’s approach was a clear indication that the mysterious figure was a grand magus, perhaps even more powerful—possibly a supreme being.

“Who are you?… Why are you here?” Fuxi demanded, his voice laced with caution.

The old man turned his sharp gaze on Fuxi, eyes as cold and penetrating as if they could read the very soul. With a voice that was both calm and menacing, he responded,

“I should be the one asking. How dare you enter this place and tamper with my formation?”

The weight of his words hung heavily in the air, revealing the old man’s true nature as the master of the powerful formation Fuxi had been studying. The revelation sent a shiver down Damo’s spine, and he realized just how grave the situation had become.

Fuxi took a deep breath, steadying himself as he spoke “It’s… you… you are him… the Sky Lord! You’re trespassing on our planet… the alliance will not stand idly by!”

The old man’s smile widened, as he replied coldly.

“Dead men… tell no tales,” Realizing the imminent danger, Fuxi’s made a swift gesture with his hand. In an instant, the entire subterranean forest became enshrouded in a complex web of his formations, each node glowing with power. The air crackled as Fuxi released a formidable tier 7 formation that bound the old man.

“I knew you would eventually return! This formation might not be able to defeat you, but it’s enough to hold you down!”

Sensing the impending doom, Fuxi urgently commanded Damo to flee. “Go! Warn the others!”

Damo didn’t hesitate, turning to run.

Unfortunatly, he barely managed to take three steps before a terrifying crack echoed through the subterranean forest. The intricate binding formations, which Fuxi had painstakingly crafted, shattered like glass, their power evaporating in an instant.

The old man’s eyes locked onto Damo, and with nothing more than a cold, piercing gaze, he unleashed a force that crushed the young monk’s soul.

Damo’s body collapsed to the ground, lifeless,

His eyes stared blankly into the void.

“NOOOOO!!!”

Fuxi’s scream reverberated through the cavern, a howl of pure anguish and fury. Fueled by grief and rage, he unleashed the full might of his power, and the subterranean forest erupted into a battleground of unimaginable fury.

Not long after, a spaceship descended from the sky above the ruins.

It was Yama, drawn by multiple anomalies, he went to search for the Grand Magus Fuxi for advice.

However, as soon as he entered the cave, he was shocked to see the destroyed subterranean forest. The once-mystical subterranean forest lay in ruins, scorched by the fierce battle that had taken place.

But the devastation of the forest was nothing compared to the horror that awaited him deeper within.

There, amid the wreckage, he found the lifeless body impaled upon the twisted remnants of a tree, his once-bright aura now extinguished.

Fuxi, the Earth’s strongest, the Eastern Sage, was dead.
