Earth's Greatest Magus

The second-day tournaments approached, and tension in the air grew as the next two battles would determine who would break into the top 100—a prestigious achievement—and who would be forced to fight another day for a chance to rank among the top 50 acolytes.

Damo’s third battle was a critical one, pitting him against a first-year genius who, like him, specialized in support spells. This acolyte, a rising star among the silver insignia group, presented a unique challenge, as both fighters excelled in similar disciplines. The system seemed to have deliberately paired them, offering Damo a chance to prove himself as the superior support spellcaster.

The fight was a grueling contest of strategy and mental fortitude. Both acolytes employed their spells with precision, countering and defending with equal skill. However, it was Damo’s indomitable will that set him apart. Despite the intense pressure and the formidable abilities of his opponent, Damo refused to back down. His relentless determination allowed him to outlast his rival, securing a hard-fought victory.

His next match, however, was against a seasoned acolyte ranked 89th. This battle proved to be an insurmountable challenge for Damo. The higher-ranked acolyte’s experience and power were evident, and despite Damo’s best efforts, he was defeated. The loss, though disheartening, did not diminish his accomplishments.

With two victories and two losses, Damo achieved his primary objective. His performance earned him the coveted gold insignia, marking him as one of the elite acolytes in the academy. His final ranking, 97th, was a significant milestone, placing him among the top 100 acolytes and securing his place in the academy’s prestigious ranks.

Emery, Klea, and especially Ashaka who were watching from the sidelines, couldn’t help but feel a surge of pride. Damo had faced overwhelming odds and emerged victorious through sheer determination and skill. ####

Dillion’s path to the top ranks continued with a critical fourth match, this time against a formidable half-blood opponent. His challenger was a third-year bat bloodline acolyte, Tolano’s prized disciple, ranked 35th in the academy. This flying half-blood was not only a master of shadow magic but also possessed enhanced speed, strength, and a terrifying regenerative ability, making him a formidable adversary.

From the outset, the battle was intense. The bat bloodline acolyte swooped through the air with blinding speed, his shadow magic creating a disorienting battlefield. Each strike from him was swift and precise, testing Dillion’s defenses to their limit. However, Dillion remained calm and focused, his years of training and experience guiding his every move.

Dillion knew that he couldn’t rely solely on brute strength to win this battle. His opponent’s regenerative abilities made conventional attacks less effective. Instead, he turned to his gravity spells, a discipline that had been his specialty and had only grown stronger with his recent breakthrough. The weight of gravity spells slowed his opponent’s swift movements, dragging the bat bloodline acolyte down and making it harder for him to evade Dillion’s attacks.

As the battle progressed, Dillion seized his opportunity. With his opponent momentarily slowed, Dillion summoned all his power into a single, decisive strike, his Kahos-enhanced weapon glowing with energy. The force of gravity, combined with the raw power of the blow, smashed into the half-blood with incredible force, bypassing his regenerative abilities and knocking him out of the fight.

“Dillion win!!”

The crowd erupted in cheers as Dillion stood victorious, his chest heaving from the effort. However, Toleno did not take the defeat well; losing his favorite acolyte was a significant blow, leaving a negative impression of Emery’s hall.

Meanwhile, Shinta had easily dispatched her previous opponent, a rank 60 acolyte, showcasing her prowess and preparation.

Her next challenge was significantly more formidable. She was matched against a second-year acolyte, Karel who had steadily risen through the ranks with each tournament. This opponent was ranked 26th and was one of the three celebrated disciples under the Star Tower Lord of the first hall, a prestigious position that spoke volumes about his skill and dedication.

The young man was distinguishable by the white bandana he wore, emblazoned with a star symbol that signified his elite status and his connection to the Star Tower. His reputation was that of a martial artist obsessed with perfecting his swordsmanship. Known for his rigorous training and nearly obsessive focus on his blade skills, he was both feared and respected within the academy.

From the outset, it was clear that the star disciple was a master of his craft. His swordsmanship was nothing short of exceptional, characterized by precise, fluid movements that seemed almost effortless. Unfortunately for the star disciple, facing Shinta was more than just a physical challenge; it was a test of endurance and patience. Along with her outstanding battle power and versatile abilities, Shinta was not one to fight fair if it meant gaining an advantage. Her tactical mind and willingness to employ unconventional methods made her a formidable opponent.

When the star disciple unleashed his formidable 7-star sword techniques, renowned for their relentless and powerful combos, Shinta responded with a strategy designed to disrupt his flow. Instead of engaging directly, she utilized her [Duskvine Hex] to obscure his vision and weaken his focus, causing him to miss critical strikes.

Whenever he managed to regain his composure and launch another attack, Shinta would abruptly retreat, using her agility to stay just out of his reach.

The star disciple’s calm demeanor was gradually eroded by Shinta’s relentless psychological tactics. Frustrated by her hit-and-run approach.

“You coward! Fight me like a real man!”

“Are you blind or stupid?… Why are you calling a beauty like me a man!” Shinta taunted, her voice dripping with mockery.

The psyche battle took its toll, causing Karel to lose his form and composure. Seizing the moment, Shinta struck decisively, exploiting the gaps in his defense and clinching her victory with a series of well-timed blows.

With the second day concluding, 50 acolytes advanced to the final duels. Among them were Dillion, Shinta, and six other half-bloods, all poised for the ultimate challenge.
