Earth's Greatest Magus

“She is cheating!! She’s a cheater!!”

Grand Magus William, the Imperial Wizard of the Aryan faction, bellowed, his voice echoing across the arena. His accusation, backed by his formidable reputation, sent a ripple of tension through the crowd.

The Aryan acolytes, emboldened by their master words, quickly began to shout their complaints in unison, their voices merging into a chorus of outrage. Hundreds among the audience, drawn in by the fervor, joined in the clamor, creating a wave of discontent that swept through the stands.

With Grand Magus Aurora, the Oracle, still preoccupied with the ongoing dispute between the Proxima and Navarro factions, only a handful of senior staff were available to handle the escalating situation.

The tension in the arena was palpable as the Aryan instructor, standing tall and indignant, demanded that Shinta hand over her sword. But Shinta, clutching the sword tightly, refused. The sword was too precious for her and such refusal only inflamed the instructor’s anger further, fueling his complaints and adding to the growing uproar.

As the situation threatened to spiral out of control, Lucius Corvin stepped confidently into the arena, his presence commanding immediate attention. However, another figure flew ahead of him. It was the newly advanced Hall Instructor, Emery Ambrose.

“Father…” Shinta’s voice was soft, tinged with regret, she feared that her actions had caused unnecessary trouble. But Emery placed a reassuring hand on top of her silvery hair. “Don’t worry, you haven’t done anything wrong.” Emery’s words only fueled the Aryan instructor’s anger further.

“You have no business here! Get off the arena!” he snapped, his voice dripping with authority and disdain. But Emery remained unperturbed by the outburst, Ignoring the man entirely, he turned to address the Academy’s senior staff, his tone respectful but firm.

“I am the one who gave her the sword, I’m here to explain.”

At Emery’s instruction, Shinta hesitantly handed the sword over to the staff. They examined it with meticulous care, their expressions shifting from curiosity to deep contemplation as they analyzed every aspect of the blade.

The [Gentle Sword] was initially a tier 5 sword, but Jinkan, the Nephilim princess had refined the sword for Emery as part of a favor for joining the Celestial Expedition.

However, before passing it to Shinta, Emery had removed the mythical soul embedded in the sword and the intricate refining runes, leaving only the tempered metal intact. While this left the sword in what could be considered high-grade tier 5 status, the metal’s durability was rivaled that of a tier 6 weapon, which some might view as problematic.

It was a delicate situation, as the distinction between tier 5 and tier 6 was significant in the context of the Academy’s regulations.

Emery, understanding the complexity of the situation, made a polite request for the staff’s understanding. The senior staff, however, seemed at a loss. They exchanged uncertain glances, clearly grappling with the dilemma presented by the sword’s unique nature.

In contrast, William, the Hall 15 Instructor demanded Shinta’s disqualification. His voice rang out with a harsh, authoritative tone, echoing through the arena.

“Hahaha hahaha”

A ripple of laughter surfaced, drawing attention away from the tension.

Lucius, stepping forward with a heavy tone, sharply criticized the Aryan instructor. “How shameless!” he declared, his voice cutting through the commotion. “Look at the silver armor worn by your acolyte! Is it not the same thing? It’s filled with high-grade anti-curse and anti-poison runes! What a joke!”

The Imperial Wizard’s face darkened, his aura flaring dangerously as he retorted. “This is not the same! The armor is meant for protection, while the sword is a dangerous weapon intended to cause harm!”

His declaration was met with a collective gasp from the others. For Emery and Shinta, it was clear that the Imperial Wizard was being unreasonable. The Imperial Wizard was grasping at straws, using any means necessary to find fault and make trouble.

All eyes turned to Headmaster Goldstein, waiting for his final decision.

However, before he could speak, Grand Magus William’s voice rang out, filled with fury.

“Is this what the academy has become? Discriminating against our own race for these cheaters?” His words ignited a chorus of support from the Aryan faction’s supporters, and the arena echoed with shouts of agreement.

The pressure on Headmaster Goldstein was palpable as he remained silent, his expression unreadable.

Amid the uproar, Lucius Corvin stepped forward with a resolute stance. He pointed directly at the Aryan instructor and declared, “There is no need for this. Let’s settle this ourselves!” His challenge cut through the noise, drawing attention and creating a tense anticipation among the crowd.

The Aryan instructor’s face broke into a sinister grin as he responded, “Hahahaha! Alright, Lucius, let’s fight!” The instructor’s eagerness was evident as if this confrontation was what he had been waiting for.

Emery moved to stop Lucius, preferring to wait for the Headmaster’s official decision. But Lucius merely chuckled, brushing off Emery’s concern.

“Dont you understand? …If we allow this to continue, your daughter, my strongest acolyte will be branded as a cheater… We can’t let that happen!! …Now move over!!—let me do my job!” For that brief moment, Emery glanced at Lucius with a new light before stepping out of the arena.

The duel between two Grand Magus of their caliber was a spectacle the audience eagerly anticipated. As the fight commenced, the crowd’s focus shifted entirely to the battle before them, their earlier concerns about the sword and armor forgotten in their excitement to see who would emerge victorious.

Grand Magus William, the Imperial Wizard of the Aryan faction, was a master of the four pure elements: earth, fire, wind, and water. His command over these elements was so profound that he wielded a tier 8 spell for each—one for defense, one for offense, one for mobility, and one for healing. This comprehensive mastery rendered him a formidable figure, nearly invulnerable with no apparent weaknesses.

In contrast, Lucius, known as the Golden Wolf, relied on sheer strength. His dual proficiency in metal and fire-forged into attacks and defenses of unparalleled power. His innate savagery and dominating presence allowed him to plow through any spells William could conjure.

Lucius’s raw might and relentless aggression turned the duel into a battle of endurance and power.

The clash between these two titans was nothing short of explosive. Each strike and spell caused the arena to tremble, with hundreds of clashes resonating through the crowd.

Lucius, with his unyielding strength and strategic prowess, ultimately emerged victorious. His dominance in the battle not only upheld his hall’s ranking but also preserved the honor of the half-bloods.

With a triumphant smile, Lucius addressed the defeated Grand Magus William.

“Don’t be too sad, You can always try again next year!”

Lucius’s thunderous laughter marked the end of the advancement challenge and the yearly exams.
