Cursed Immortality

Chapter 998: Trapping a Killer! (2)

The Serpent King was a well-known figure among the Legendary Kings because he belonged to the Sea Serpent Race of the Ocean Race and was one of their highest authority leaders. But no one knew that the revered Serpent King was actually a Constant Baron of ATLAS.

Although the Serpent King wasn’t among the top hundred Constant Barons, his ranking was still relatively high: He was Constant Baron-101. This also put him just a rank below Constant Baron-100 and a step away from acquiring his own floor in the Timeless Tower, which comes with many benefits.

That’s why Constant Baron-101 didn’t hesitate to take on the task of ruining Constant Baron-0. He was also secretly part of Constant Baron-1’s faction, even though Constant Baron-0 was unaware of it. Furthermore, this chance also came abruptly because of the formation of the Secret Fraternity.

This Secret Fraternity was formed among the people whom the Upper Plains ordered to search for the Cursed One, and the Serpent King was among such Legendary Kings.

That’s how Constant Baron-1’s faction hatched this plan to trick Constant Baron-0 by diligently leaving traces behind, so they could draw her here today.

Although it wasn’t easy, and they needed to be careful not to be discovered by Constant Baron-0, they still succeeded and also achieved their other objective, which was the ’Cursed One’, and they believed that it was none other than the ’Faceless Ancient’.

Now, they were only a step away from pitting Constant Baron-0 against the Secret Fraternity and forcing them to take action against her.

Everything was meticulously planned; they even had a backup, but alas, they missed one crucial variable: Jacob’s sudden involvement with Constant Baron-0 and his presence in this ’raid’ today.

Serpent King knew he couldn’t attack Constant Baron-0, or she would be free to retaliate against him, which he didn’t want. So, he chose the next best thing to start the plan, which was targeting Jacob.

Although Serpent King didn’t know who Jacob was and why Constant Baron-0 would bring him here with her, he thought little of him because there wasn’t any kind of power emitting from Jacob, nor were there any soul fluctuations. This could only mean Jacob was probably Constant Baron-0’s slave or attendant.

Furthermore, even if Jacob had somehow hidden his prowess, Serpent King was confident in his ability to slip away after his sudden ambush. Not even a Legendary King would be able to reach quickly enough.

However, the moment Serpent King took action and was about to land a destructive blow with his law concept, a chill suddenly ran down Serpent King’s spine as his soul sense, which was locking Jacob in his place, was suddenly suppressed!

Not only that, but another terrifying soul sense as heavy as a mountain locked on him instead. Furthermore, his movement and mana were suddenly disrupted, as if something even stronger than his wind law were activated, affecting the very fabric of reality around him.

With his years of experience, Serpent King knew it was another law, and it far exceeded any law he had ever experienced. He instantly wanted to retreat, as he knew he had chosen the worst target, but to his horror, the next space around him also compressed—another law was activated!

But what happened next sent shivers down the spines of those who were witnessing this entire thing play out.

Jacob slowly raised his skeletal hands. His movements didn’t seem fast or slow; they appeared extremely normal and had no power behind them, while Serpent King seemed to have frozen on his spot.

The next moment, Jacob casually moved his hand towards the Serpent King’s head. Others expected the Serpent King to dodge it, but unexpectedly, he remained rooted in his spot, his body trembling.

At this moment, Jacob gently grabbed Serpent King’s head, and the next moment, a massive wheel appeared, enveloping Serpent King’s entire body. There were three different sections on this wheel, and the pitch-black section suddenly shifted and shimmered as it covered the entire wheel.

”Ahhhhhhhh!”

Serpent King’s screams suddenly reverberated in the silent vicinity, sending shivers down everyone’s spine. He was clearly not pretending as those screams were filled with pain and horror.

”Please spare him!” One of the three legendary kings finally reacted as he quickly pleaded for ’Serpent King’. However, none of them move forward because Jacob’s mysterious abilities completely spooked them.

After all, everyone knew that Serpent King was a tier-3 Legendary King, yet this unknown person had not only subdued him despite the former’s sneak attack, but he was utterly helpless against the latter like a child.

Even Constant Baron-0 was horrified by Jacob’s prowess, and a sudden chill ran down her spine when she thought about how she wanted to go against Jacob and even thought of him as a mere pawn.

’J-just who exactly is he!? Why did the ’Lord’ give him such power

? Constant Baron-0 was utterly confused, yet she was more afraid.
However, her horror quickly turned into ecstasy because Jacob was on her side, and the stronger he was, the more assurance she had. Just hearing the Constant Baron-101’s helpless screams made her drop any doubt she had.

Constant Baron-101’s scrams fade away within three seconds, and the pitch-black wheel starts to compress. Everyone thought Jacob had shown mercy, but when the Life Bane Wheel faded away, there were no traces of Constant Baron-101, and not even his bones were left, as if he had never existed.

”W-where is he?! What did you do to the Serpent King!?”

The legendary kings were flabbergasted, and Constant Baron-0 was shaken because the Timeless Hourglass didn’t appear, and she couldn’t sense any traces of Constant Baron anymore.

’H-he really killed a Constant Baron within seconds?!’ This realization was both exciting and terrifying at the same time.

”I don’t have time to play with you guys.” Jacob finally spoke, but his voice lacked emotion, making the legendary kings twitch.

But before anyone could react, Jacob vanished from his spot like a ghost, and those legendary kings instantly released their soul senses in panic. They were extremely afraid of being targeted by this unknown killer, yet they couldn’t sense Jacob’s traces and panicked even more!

---

Miles away from the Constant Baron-0 and Legendary Kings’ location, Constant Baron-1 and crew were hiding within a powerful concealment barrier, and they were secretly observing everything and waiting for their opportunity.

However, at this moment, they were silent as ghosts as they looked at the projection screen.

Constant Baron-5 finally snapped out of his stupor and agitatedly asked, ”W-who is he!? Where did he go?!”

”I don’t care about any of it! Let’s quickly retreat, this mission is a failure!” Constant Baron-9 was more afraid for her own life because Jacob had really frightened them silly.

Even Constant Baron-1’s expression wasn’t looking good, and he was really thinking about retreating when a ghostly voice rang in the silence...

”We haven’t even gotten the chance to get acquainted with each other, yet, already planning on leaving? How about staying and having a nice ’chat’!”
