Cursed Immortality

Chapter 984: Star Auction Virtual House! (1)

Within the Virtual Star World, the Star Auction Virtual House was a colossal, floating citadel suspended in the boundless galaxy of virtual space, like a private island, but vastly different and unique.

Its architecture is a fusion of high-tech elegance and mythic opulence. Glistening silver platforms orbiting it like moons, radiant with circuitry-like veins, while the central spire stretched endlessly into a nebula-ridden sky that pulsed with elements.

The outer walls shimmered with prismatic light, constantly rearranging into symbols and runic languages—each representing countless star IDs, private codes of auction items, and locked bids. It wasn’t just an auction house—it was a vault of cosmic commerce of legendary plains where countless deals took place within seconds.

Above the grand entrance floated an iridescent emblem: the mark of the Star Network—undisputed ruler of the Virtual Star World. Their presence alone was akin to authenticating this virtual auction house.

The Star Auction Virtual House can be accessed by everyone who can enter the Virtual Star World. It was extremely easy to use, not to mention versatile and practical.

The Star Auction Virtual House has all the functions of the countless auction servers of the Star Networks, and many more. One can place any item there for auction, and after paying an 18% commission, the item or money will be safely delivered, which was guaranteed by the Star Network.

That’s why, despite such a steep commission, most people use the Star Auction Virtual House because there was no chance of a scam or fear of getting scammed.

There were two types of auctions the Star Auction Virtual House holds, the Out-House Auction and the In-House Auction.

The out-house auction was the most common, and like auction servers, one can post an auction within the Star Auction Virtual House, which will then display on the building’s wall and can also be accessed by simply using the user interface.

As for the in-house auctions, they were scarce as a matter of fact. Because the in-house auctions only took place when a certain number of at least legendary noble or above rank items arrived for auction.

These in-house auctions only took place within the citadel of the Star Auction Virtual House, and the only people who were qualified to participate in these auctions were Legendary Rank experts; no one below was allowed to even enter the auction house.

Whenever an in-house auction took place, almost all the representatives of the top factions would be present just in case a curious item suddenly appeared. The last in-house auction happened a few years ago.

Today was also another in-house auction, and for a specific reason, the entire virtual world was far more active than usual and boisterous.

Those who are active today all knew that it had to do with the star news posted by an unknown individual who had openly announced an item going up for auction today in this in-house auction. That item was appraised as ’Legendary King Rank’.

Furthermore, those who knew about the item, which was related to the flames of myth—the Yang Flame, also known as the Flame of Creation in some legends and the Flame of Destruction in others—hurried into the Virtual Star World today, regardless of distance or affiliation.

In fact, most of these people were here to enjoy the incoming show because many knew that the Yang Flame was extremely alluring to Legendary Kings, and right after the star news related to the Yang Flame was posted, people started to dig for information on it.

Within a few hours, another anonymous star news quickly gained popularity, which sent another shockwave through the legendary plains, and this even included the Dark Network of the Dark Beings.

This news revealed an ancient text about Yang Flame, which apparently indicates that by integrating the Yang Flame with a Legendary King’s soul totem, one can become ’Divine’.

Although the ’Divine’ word has different meanings, those in the Legendary King knew more than others, especially those with a connection with the upper plains; they instantly connected ’Divine’ with ’Godhood’ or the next realm of Myth!

This is how today’s auction suddenly became extremely popular, and the people who are going to participate in it have reached an unimaginable number, not to mention that influential figures were hidden among them.

From the moment the massive countdown on top of the entrance of the Star Auction Virtual House island hit [00:00:00:59:59]—sixty minutes to go—a storm of activity surged through the Virtual Star World as those who had purchased ’auction tickets’ all received a notification.

”The In-House Auction will start in an hour!

”Please use this link (???) to enter your designated seat in the Star Auction Virtual House!

”Rules and Regulations...”

Those who were already familiar with the process used the link to teleport directly into the citadel and appeared on their designated seats. Those who were new carefully read the rules, as any violation could put them on the blacklist.

As the final minute approached, it became a spectacle.

Countless seats were lined up in many rows in an orderly fashion, concealed within an obscure dome that could be made translucent if the owner of the seat wanted to show their face to the public, which 99% of the people present didn’t want for obvious reasons.

Furthermore, these seats were all arranged around a towering platform in the far center of the citadel, which could be easily seen through the projection screen within those special seats.

As millions of seats flickered like stars, signifying the arrival of the verified guests, the atmosphere became rowdy.

Other than those common ’dome-sets’. Some rich and powerful figures entered through VIP tickets and took the closest seats to the towering platform, and these seats were floating a few hundred meters away from the platform. At the same time, obscure in golden domes like stars, many called the ’Star Seats’, and people knew only Legendary Kings or representatives of top powers were qualified to purchase those seats.

As the final minute approached, the central platform, the auction stage, suddenly filled with a thick layer of mist, and the access of the auction house finally came to a close.

Everyone knew that the in-house auction was about to start!
