Esper Harem in the Apocalypse

1050  Breaking (Quite a Few Times)

”The person you are looking for isnʼt here,” the receptionist informed Rudy.

”Did you check carefully? You might have missed something.” ”I filtered out the name you asked for. I performed two searches, one with the name ʼJoeʼ and another with ʼVibenʼ and neither of the searches matched.”

”Strange…” Rudy played dumb. ”How is that possible?”

”You are either at the wrong place or the person you are looking for might have a special connection with the landlord, which is why his name isnʼt on the list. I donʼt have administrator access to the data,” the receptionist explained calmly.

”Oh? Special connections… such as? Have you ever encountered someone like that here?” ”I have seen a few people coming with him and leaving with or after him, but I am not privy to the information. I doubt the person you are looking for is one of them, though.”

She seemed skeptical of her expression, but it wasnʼt as though she was thinking Rudy was lying, but because of the landlord.

”Why would you think that?”

”I canʼt tell you that. And if you are truly looking for someone who is involved with that person, you should reconsider meeting him. Unless, of course, you know that person personally.”

ʼNo way in hell I know someone like that. But even she is saying that I shouldnʼt get involved with someone who knows the landlord, which means that the landlord would definitely be a piece of shit. Looks like some things havenʼt changed.

A piece of shit will always remain a piece if shit, even if the world changes or an apocalypse happens.ʼ

Rudy felt disappointed that even after a drastic change in the world, people couldnʼt change themselves.

ʼI actually wanted to find that out. So that means as I regain the memories, I will have to hunt down the bad guys. They wonʼt change.ʼ

Rudy wondered that if people couldnʼt change even after something so major, was there a point of giving them a second chance, showing them mercy, or forgiving them?

ʼGarbage shouldnʼt be reused or recycled… it needs to be burned… completely from existence.ʼ

”Why would you say that about your employer?” Rudy asked curiously. He was genuinely curious as to why she was willing to work for him if she had doubts on him.

The girl glanced around cautiously and brought her face close to Rudy to whisper, ”Letʼs just say I donʼt get myself involved in such. I donʼt get personal with everything and keep my work life different. That really helps me in tough times.”

”I completely understand that.” Rudy nodded three times and continued. ”But that doesnʼt mean you should just let things happen. Of course, you shouldnʼt put yourself in danger by playing a white knight, but at least make sure that you donʼt get the ashes on you.”

”Ashes…?” the girl raised her brow with a confused look on her face. ”I donʼt understand.”

”Itʼs nothing. Thanks for your cooperation. And… I would like to apologize for my behavior.”

”Me too!” She said instantly. ”I donʼt know why I reacted like that. I guess I was just frustrated. But hey… thatʼs no reason for me to take it out on someone. So… I am sorry.” She bowed down a bit as she apologized.

Rudy left the building in a good mood and made his way out of the block. Then, he soared into the sky and disappeared into the clouds.

”It feels nice to talk to people like this. I honestly enjoyed the interaction. The chick in the club was nice, too. She was super cute and energetic. And well… she was actually honest. Like when she said it was her first time, I thought she was lying, since itʼs a typical thing for a girl to do.

”It feels nice to talk to people like this. I honestly enjoyed the interaction. The chick in the club was nice, too. She was super cute and energetic. And well… she was actually honest. Like when she said it was her first time, I thought she was lying, since itʼs a typical thing for a girl to do.

Not going to lie, I was surprised when I saw the blood. I felt a little bad for judging her, but I am not the one to be blamed. But, I feel guilty for taking her first time. I didnʼt force her, but still… I have that old mentality that one should give their first time to the girl they love… and that goes both ways, for a boy and a girl.

Even her name was… uhh… how should I say it….? Impactful? She said her uncle was the owner of the club. Of course, I thought she was lying at first, but considering how she was telling the truth about her virginity, that might be true as well.

She even insisted that I have her contact information, but I declined as I didnʼt want to ruin her life. My goal is…”

Rudyʼs flying speed decreased as he pondered about his goal.

ʼI know I have my goals, but what do I do after I have achieved them? I want… more. I want something that no one can have. I want to be the best. I want to be the greatest. I… want to be God!ʼ

Rudy suddenly stopped flying and raised his brows with a confused look on his face, as though he couldnʼt believe he had that thought.

”What the fuck am I spouting? Whatʼs wrong with me? Are these powers getting on my head or what?” Rudy asked himself.

Without wasting any time, Rudy flew with the speed of sound. But he wanted to fly faster, so he pushed his current limits and eventually broke the sound barrier.

ZWAMP~!

With a loud sound echoing in the sky, Rudy had achieved the supersonic.

He reached the landlordʼs house within three minutes and hovered in the sky, seemingly devising his plan.

However, he got bored of it, so he chose a rather entertaining approach. He crashed into the house and landed in what it seemed like an enormous living room.

”....!”

Much to his surprise, he sensed electric signals all around the house. At first, he thought it was simply the wiring of the huge mansion, but after using his supervision, he discovered that the house was laden with advanced weapons.

”Hmm~” With an amusing look on his face, Rudy muttered, ”Even though I made such a cool entrance, the alarm didnʼt go off. Something is off… quite literally.”

ʼMan, there is no one to laugh at that pun.ʼ
