Brother Dao Took the Entertainment Industry by Storm, Fans Beg Me Not to Kill Anymore

In the following days, Xiao He continued to stay at the National Theater for a few more days, double-checking the results of the rehearsals one more time.

Finally, before the production team of ”Dragon” was about to fly to Hong Kong all together, Xiao He returned to Shanghai first to attend the White Magnolia Awards at the end of June—

Yes, during a brief gap in the busy schedule, Xiao He’s ”Song Chenye” from ”Record of Chasing the Wind” had successfully made it onto the shortlist for Best Actor at the White Magnolia Awards.

The last time Xiao He participated in this event, it was for ”Starry Radiance” as Meng Zetian, competing for Best Supporting Actor.

Unfortunately, his role back then wasn’t very good. Meng Zetian was a traitor character that had sparked significant controversy, so winning would have caused some waves. In the end, Xiao He lost regretfully and missed out on Best Supporting Actor.

And now, in the blink of an eye, when Xiao He returned to fight again, he was already a candidate for Best Actor.

Song Chenye from ”Record of Chasing the Wind” had successfully broken into the shortlist! The future Best Actor was within reach!

This made the Little Box fans extremely excited. Long before Xiao He returned to Shanghai, they were already joyfully preparing, wanting to witness Xiao He claim one of the three major gold awards in the domestic TV drama field together!

Remember, movies have three major awards, and TV dramas also have three major awards. Some people might achieve a Grand Slam in one field, but very few can win awards in both fields, because no matter how you look at it, there’s still a barrier between the two domains.

Even today, this is extremely rare. So far, only one teacher has achieved a full six-award Grand Slam, and they are now at the pinnacle of the entertainment industry, with no one able to shake their position. As for others who have won awards in both fields, they are basically well-known veteran actors in the industry—extremely capable, famous, and practically household names.

If Xiao He could take home one gold award in the TV drama field, specifically the White Magnolia Award this time, then the other Flying Eagle Award, which relies on traffic to win, would almost certainly be his given his current traffic and fame—if you calculated it that way, Xiao He would be blooming in both movies and TV dramas, with a three-out-of-four situation on both sides, grabbing four gold awards in one go and becoming the number one among the younger generation!

Such an honor, such an achievement, could be said to be unprecedented and unlikely to be repeated!

Plus, with his track record of carrying box office in important roles, Xiao He’s performance chart was so solid it could cut down a tree.

So, back in May, when it was confirmed that Xiao He’s role as Song Chenye in ”Record of Chasing the Wind” had made the White Magnolia shortlist, the Little Box fans had already been eagerly waiting, analyzing the strengths and weaknesses of other competitors while looking forward to the final results at the end of June...

As for Xiao He himself and his team, they were already too busy to keep up, preparing for the trip to Hong Kong on one side and getting ready for this award on the other. Comparatively, winning the award had become a less important matter.

First, because Xiao He’s acting skills no longer needed mere awards to prove themselves. Second, because the White Magnolia Awards were held in Shanghai itself, giving Xiao He and his team home-field advantage. The awards themselves naturally favored actors from the Shanghai circle. Although Xiao He wasn’t a trained professional, their interests were already deeply tied to many people in the Shanghai circle, so this regional advantage couldn’t be ignored.

And third... compared to other candidates, Xiao He’s Song Chenye had an overwhelming advantage. In the entire past year, there really weren’t many competitors that could hold a candle. Even if there were a few serious dramas or red dramas, they all had some issues with character portrayals that backfired. So in comparison, Xiao He’s Song Chenye, with his ”upright” and flawlessly normal character, combined with his successful broadcast on Central TV, carried enough prestige and weight to fully take a seat at the table.

So, according to Liu Rulan’s words: ”You should treat winning awards like a daily routine.”

After all, since ”No Bait,” Xiao He’s awards had been pouring in like a floodgate opening. Besides the three most famous awards, he had also won other important but less famous awards domestically and internationally. And this time, ”Record of Chasing the Wind” had broken multiple records across platforms, including the historical viewership ratings of Channel Eight. So barring any surprises, Xiao He would definitely win many awards related to ”Record of Chasing the Wind” in the second half of the year.

So, the second half of the year was destined to be busy as well—

...

On the stage, under the gaze of thousands, the host unsurprisingly read out that name.

”The actor winning the Best Actor at this year’s White Magnolia Awards is—Song Chenye, Xiao He!”

On the big screen behind him, the young swordsman lifted his head, his eyes hiding deep sorrow and grief, but his brows and gaze carried an unyielding resilience and stubbornness.

”I, Song Chenye, will never regret anything I do.”

”But if you were faced with the same choice, what would you do?”

”...In a person’s life, there is always something more important than love. But while protecting what’s important, I will never destroy this purity, because I also have no right to hurt what is most important to others.”

”Unfortunately...”

The young man’s unfinished words ultimately scattered in the wind, along with that trace of regretful red at the corner of his eye, hidden behind the sword light he raised.

This was the scene where Song Chenye killed Huo Wan’er, and also the most complex expression of Song Chenye’s character and personality. Xiao He had to portray his hatred, his love, his regret, his helplessness... even his wavering and madness.

Until finally, in Song Chenye’s deep brows and eyes, only that one thick stroke of resilience remained.

Song Chenye was human, so he naturally had feelings, struggles, and pain.

But he was also a man with boundaries, clearly knowing his original purpose and the blood-deep hatred that brought him here.

This scene was extremely difficult to act. If done well, it captured the Song Chenye image that the entire script of ”Record of Chasing the Wind” wanted to express. If done poorly, all of Song Chenye’s behavioral logic and character personality would completely collapse.

Fortunately, Xiao He naturally acted out Song Chenye in this scene.

The original, unaltered Song Chenye.

The Song Chenye that many viewers loved.

In the entire TV drama ”Record of Chasing the Wind,” one of the biggest reasons Song Chenye became the most handsome male lead in history and the character with the strongest personal charm was that while others changed more or less, Song Chenye never changed.

That didn’t mean Song Chenye didn’t grow. On the contrary, along this bloody path of revenge, he was always growing, ”cultivating his heart,” honing his character, and strengthening his toughness.

He had both the courage to ”do good deeds without asking about the future” and the carefree spirit to ”watch the moon and wind in leisure, undisturbed by the clamor of the world.”

Such a character perfectly hit the image of a martial arts swordsman in the hearts of Chinese people.

No one could fail to love Song Chenye, because Song Chenye was worth it.

So when Xiao He stood generously on the stage, many people clapped sincerely.

Without a doubt—

This year’s White Magnolia Best Actor had a young man coming.
