Brother Dao Took the Entertainment Industry by Storm, Fans Beg Me Not to Kill Anymore

Chapter 790: The Key Plot of *Dragon* – The Research Institute!

Bao Xingshengʼs arrival and departure didnʼt bother Xiao He and the others at all.

The following days continued with the filming of *Dragon*.

And the plot of *Dragon* smoothly arrived at its most crucial part –

That is, revealing the truth about the monster, as well as the true origin of the filmʼs title *Dragon*.

“Dragon?”

Wang Budao held up the torn piece of paper in his hand, reading the characters on it with some confusion.

“What does this mean?”

The captured antique smuggler forced a wry smile and said helplessly, “This thing was brought out together with that monster. We also asked around, but nobody knew what it meant, so we just temporarily called that monster ‘Dragon.’”

The young man, who had been lounging nonchalantly against the railing, flipped over from his slouched position, cautiously sized up the man in front of him, and then said, “So thatʼs why you deliberately threw that thing into the hospital and had the hospital find someone to kill that ‘Dragon’?”

“Ah, you canʼt put it that way...”
The smuggler, having been seen through, naturally didnʼt dare to admit it, but after glancing at this extraordinary young man, and then looking at the tall, heavyset man beside him, he finally swallowed his saliva and said, “Alright, to be honest, we had no other choice. Our people originally brought the stuff out from an inland tomb, then transferred it to Hong Kong, and from Hong Kong shipped it overseas...”

“But last month, our cargo ran into some problems, and we urgently needed to find a master to solve it.”

But clearly, the masters they, these grave robbers, had found all failed. Eventually, because they also had some connections in Hong Kong, they simply brought over such a ‘Dragon’ and dumped it into Hong Kong along with everything else, to see if the local masters there could handle it.

Unfortunately, metaphysics nowadays isnʼt what it used to be. Hong Kong has more scammers than people with real skills. Even if someone with real ability existed, the hospital didnʼt have enough money to hire them, and they certainly wouldnʼt be willing to go down into the earth with these grave robbers. So, this matter dragged on until now, when it was resolved by Zhou Zhiyi and the others.

And these guys, as if seeing hope, came knocking and offered Zhou Zhiyi and his team an exorbitant commission that they couldnʼt refuse now.

But when it came to going down into the tomb, the only woman on the team, Chu Xin, hesitated.

“None of us have any experience going down into tombs. And what if we follow you down there, and then you turn on us afterward?”

Chu Xin confronted the man in front of her bluntly.

These grave robbers didnʼt have much integrity to begin with; otherwise, they wouldnʼt dig up their own countryʼs treasures to sell to others. Chu Xin was genuinely worried theyʼd have the money to earn but not the life to spend it.

—As for whether these grave robbers were committing crimes?

Come on, they were willing to go against the Daoist path for money, posing as science debunkers to expose metaphysical scammers. How noble did you expect them to be?

Besides, their work over the years had always been in a gray area, a mix of good and bad. They had seen plenty of dirty deeds. For the sake of money and work, they ultimately turned a blind eye to it all.

After all, in this society, making a living is the most important thing, isnʼt it?

Of course, compared to work and money, life was clearly more important.

“Ah, I didnʼt explain clearly. Weʼre not going down into the tomb.”

The antique dealer quickly waved his hands and explained, “Let me be honest with you. The big tomb we discovered this time is in the deep mountains of Nanling. Back in the day, a small abandoned research institute was left on top of the tomb by the Japanese. The place is still in decent condition, so we temporarily moved the stuff from the tomb into the institute.”

“What?”

This time, Zhou Zhiyiʼs expression finally turned serious.

“We donʼt know if itʼs because those bastards committed too many sins back then, but that research institute is far from clean. Those things there are even more sinister than what weʼve dug up from ancient tombs before,” the antique dealer said with rising anger. “If we had known, we would have taken a detour rather than temporarily storing the treasures in that institute!”

The result was unexpected: the people they had risked losing were gone, the treasures were gone, and the tomb had been disturbed, so they were even more afraid to go back in!

That was the real dilemma.

“Yin Sha converging, two conflicting energies clashing—” Zhou Zhiyi muttered, his expression turning quite grim. “Ancient tombs themselves carry tomb Sha and Yin Qi. You brought so many things out from there, essentially releasing the Yin Sha from the tomb outside. And then you ran into the mess left behind by those islanders back then. There must be plenty of vengeful resentful spirits in there. When two types of Sha Qi meet, they amplify and connect, feeding off each other... This directly causes earthly Qi to leak out and twisted, evil beings to be born... The ones who came back from there are probably mostly dead, arenʼt they?”

The antique dealerʼs face turned ashen: “Yes, thatʼs exactly it... We just originally thought it was the miasma left behind by those Japs in the institute...”

“From a scientific perspective, thatʼs also a reason, since they were researching bacteria there back then...”

Zhou Zhiyi regained his composure and nodded slightly, though his fingers involuntarily clenched a bit tighter.

Traditional Feng Shui speaks of “Three Major Dragon Veins,” divided into the Northern Dragon, the Central Dragon, and the Southern Dragon.

And Nanling is the trunk vein of Chinaʼs Southern Dragon. Originating from Kunlun, it passes through Yunnan and Guizhou into the Five Ranges, stretching across Hunan, Jiangxi, Guangdong, and Guangxi. It is the dragon vein hub and earthly Qi gateway of the southeastern half of the country.

Back then, after Guangzhou fell, the Japanese established a secret research institute. One of the most infamous bacterial warfare units in history was located there. They used refugees from Guangdong and Hong Kong and Chinese POWs to carry out inhumane live experiments and vivisections, and they released bacteria. It was utterly vicious and ruthless to the extreme.

It was said they continued northward, deeper into Nanling, where traces of their secret base activities also existed.

The experiments there were only more horrific and more devoid of humanity than one could imagine.

Just thinking about it, just hearing about it, made one unable to stop shaking with anger, unable to breathe properly.

Wang Budao grabbed the antique dealer by the collar and spat, “Damn you, you bastard! Your mother might as well have given birth to a piece of garbage instead of you!”

“How could you do something so stupid? Do you have any idea about the blood debts those people owed us back then?”

“And you moved the stuff into the research institute? Why didnʼt you let the things soak up even more Yin Sha so they could come back and wipe out your whole family?!”

Sprayed with Wang Budaoʼs spittle, the antique dealer could only whimper pitifully, “Help! I really donʼt want to die yet!”

“Get lost, get lost—”

Wang Budao said, preparing to toss the man out, “This deal is off! No deal!”

But just as Wang Budao was about to slam the door in the manʼs face, Zhou Zhiyi stopped him.

“Wait.”

Zhou Zhiyi looked at the man in front of him, falling into a brief moment of thought.

Wang Budaoʼs expression changed: “No way, A Yi? Donʼt tell me youʼre tempted by their money?!”

“No, itʼs those things called Dragons...” Zhou Zhiyi took a deep breath. “Although we still donʼt know if itʼs actually called Dragon, letʼs just call it that for now! Youʼve seen the power of that thing; itʼs definitely not that simple. Theyʼve already moved those ancient artifacts into the research institute, fueling the leakage of earthly Sha. If we just leave it alone, more and more ‘Dragons’ will probably come out from in there...”

Besides, there was a big tomb underneath. From what these grave robbers said, they had already connected the tomb and the research institute! If that was true, the Yin Qi supply would be endless, and then the situation would become completely unmanageable!

“Bro Zhou is right.”

Chu Xinʼs expression was equally grim, but as someone with a family legacy, she understood the stakes very well.

“So what do we do? You saw what happened yesterday! One of those was already more than enough for us. If there are a few more, or a whole swarm, weʼd only be going there to die!”

Wang Budao was going crazy.

“So... we canʼt go ourselves.”

Zhou Zhiyi closed his eyes and was silent for a moment. When he opened them again, there was only determination in them. The usually easygoing man suddenly became calm and composed.

“So, I need to go back to the mountain.”

An unworthy disciple, running around in the outside world opposing metaphysics. Going back this time would likely invite cold stares and harsh words.

But there were some things they simply had to do.
