Brother Dao Took the Entertainment Industry by Storm, Fans Beg Me Not to Kill Anymore

Chapter 785: That Dog Was a Real Dog, Director Zhuang, Youʼre the Real Dog!

”Even though Iʼd heard before that this hospitalʼs boss was involved in shady business, I really didnʼt think theyʼd have the nerve to rent out a morgue separately.”

Fat Man looked around the oppressive environment and muttered under his breath.

A morgue was essentially a giant cold storage unit, and a constant-temperature warehouse spot much needed by underworld figures. What this hospital did was privately lease out this morgue as a temporary stop on the black industry chain—for things like organ smuggling for preservation, drug trafficking for transit, antique smuggling requiring protection from light and moisture, and so on.

The hospital made dirty money from the rent, and the underworld got a hidden, secure cold-storage base. It was mutual benefit, a win-win cooperation.

They just never expected that this particular business deal the hospital took on would lead to such a massive accident.

An antique smuggler had left something here and then vanished without a trace. After that, the hospital began experiencing a series of supernatural incidents, which eventually led to the bizarre deaths of two security guards on night duty.

Since the guards died in such horrific condition, the hospital didnʼt dare let the police investigate this string of anomalies. So after suppressing the matter through monetary connections, they immediately sought out several famous metaphysical masters in Hong Kong to investigate.

But those masters were either fakes who couldnʼt find anything at all, or genuine experts who were powerless to help. In the end, this dragged on for over a month. Not only did the hospitalʼs black-market business grind to a halt, but even its legitimate operations were affected. Many people who caught wind of what happened didnʼt dare go to the hospital for treatment anymore, avoiding it like the plague.

The hospital tried every possible method but couldnʼt solve the problem. Finally, they spent a fortune to hire a powerful master who sealed all these issues within this floor to prevent the supernatural incidents from spreading further. Then they immediately contacted Zhou Zhiyi and the others at the ”Anti-Supernatural Science Company,” asking them to make a sweep of the hospital and help cover things up.

After all, Zhou Zhiyi and his team had gained considerable fame. Through scientific means, they had debunked metaphysical claims and solved multiple pseudo-supernatural incidents, proving that ghosts and gods were nothing but rumors and fantasies spread by people.
So from the very beginning, the hospitalʼs main goal in inviting Zhou Zhiyi and the others was to use their reputation to prove that the hospital had successfully resolved the issue, thereby restoring normal operations.

From the start, the hospital people never expected Zhou Zhiyi and his team to actually fix the problem.

Just—

”Thereʼs nothing in this crate!”

After painstakingly prying open the wooden crate in front of them, Wang Budao, the Fat Man, was dumbfounded.

”Didnʼt they say that smugglerʼs crate was placed here and had never been opened? How come itʼs empty now?”

Wang Budao spat in disgust and started cursing. ”Are we being played for fools?”

Chu Xin was also getting scared. ”That thing... couldnʼt it have already escaped? Are we in serious danger right now?”

Wang Budao immediately began reaching for his equipment alertly. ”Could be. Maybe itʼs risen from the dead?”

”No.”

Zhou Zhiyi cut off Wang Budaoʼs words.

Staring at the pitch-black crate before him, the young man didnʼt hesitate. He reached out his hand and carefully examined the inner walls of the crate. Then, at just the right moment, his fingertips scraped up a trace of crimson stain.

After bringing it to his nose and rubbing it thoroughly before sniffing for a moment, he looked at the two people beside him. ”The residual energy here is mixed with the stench of a beast. While thereʼs a trace of human blood, thereʼs a much stronger smell of thick, rank dog blood mixed in.”

”What? Dog blood?”

Wang Budao also leaned in and sniffed the crate carefully. Aside from the stale odor of rotting corpses, there was indeed a lingering, gamey animal stench.

And the corpse stench was very faint, while the animal blood smell was much stronger.

”Itʼs black dog blood.”

Wang Budao was best at identifying this sort of thing. But once he recognized it, his face drastically changed.

For people like them, this was hardly good news.

Black dog blood was the most yang and most virile substance, a universal bane specifically for zombies and evil spirits. If it were an ordinary zombie, it would instinctively fear the overwhelming murderous aura of black dog blood, be weakened upon contact, and never dare to lurk here. But the thing inside this crate was not only unafraid, it had managed to slip out silently—which showed just how troublesome it really was.

”Huh?”

Zhou Zhiyi bent down slightly. ”It looks like thereʼs some writing inside this crate—”

”What?”

The other two lowered their heads as well. But at the same time, the camera lens moved in the opposite direction—

A creature covered in long hair, half dog and half human, was silently crawling above everyoneʼs heads.

It had no eyes, yet it somehow sensed the cameraʼs gaze. Its limbs, which had been gripping the ceiling, began to twist and contort, emitting creaking sounds.

Then, its head slowly turned, forcing itself to rotate in a way no normal human could, along with the gaping crack of its mouth, all twisting to the extreme—

Finally, a crisp sound of bones ”settling” echoed through the silent space.

”Click.”

But the three people directly below remained bent over, seemingly oblivious.

The space fell into dead silence once more.

If you listened closely, though, youʼd notice that aside from the heartbeat of the three people, the only sound now was the drip-drip-drip of water—

”Drip—”

When another drop of blood hit the ground, the three people who had been gathered around the wooden crate suddenly scattered!

”Run!”

Chu Xin was the first to bolt. Apart from her eyes, she had no combat ability whatsoever. In such an absolutely dangerous situation, just being able to run without holding the others back was already a miracle!

Close behind her was Wang Budao. Despite being fat, he was surprisingly agile. As he ran, he didnʼt forget to toss equipment from his bag behind him. Without even caring if the thing was a zombie or not, he grabbed his premium black dog blood and splashed it backward.

As for Zhou Zhiyi, who was last, he was forming hand seals while drawing his sword, raising it to slash at the creatureʼs arm!

But unexpectedly, even though the thingʼs arm was covered in fur, slashing it felt like hitting a block of iron. There was no real sensation of cutting into flesh. Zhou Zhiyi immediately knew he was outmatched!

Sure enough, the next moment, he was sent flying backward!

”Bang!”

Chu Xin and Wang Budao, running at the front, only felt something fly past overhead. When they looked up, they saw Zhou Zhiyi already hurtling past them at an absurd speed and crashing down even farther ahead!

In an instant, the order of the running group had completely reversed.

”Are you kidding me?!”

Wang Budao was dumbfounded.

What the hell was this thing? That strong?

But Zhou Zhiyi didnʼt have time to answer him. After scrambling up from the ground, he bolted forward as well. ”No time to think! Worry about staying alive!”

Canʼt beat it! Thereʼs no way to beat it!

Run! Fast!!!

So the three of them, as if a dog were chasing them, scrambled and tumbled forward—

-

”Huff, huff, huff—”

After this scene was filmed, everyone on set was drenched in sweat.

Xiao He was in slightly better shape, but he was still sweating profusely from the heat. The other two werenʼt as lucky.

Cheng Jingyu had genuinely been scared by the monster that had been chasing them.

It was just like walking through a haunted house—even knowing it was fake, when youʼre fully immersed, you still get terrified when a ghost NPC chases you! And this setʼs atmosphere was even more authentic. She had been so frightened sheʼd run for real.

As for Lyu Dun, that was the typical struggle of a chubby guy. Running back and forth like his life depended on it was already an extreme workout for him. He really needed to sit down and rest properly.

After everyone had caught their breath, Xiao He finally looked at the ”monster” wagging its tail over there and let out a vicious roast. ”Whoa, Director Zhuang actually let a real dog chase us!”

That dog was a real dog, but Director Zhuang, youʼre the real dog!!!
