Becoming Their Guiding Spirit

# Chapter 197: Zumama is a college student now. Amiya never expected Jessica to actually agree. For a moment, it felt surreal, almost unbelievable.

”Um... Miss Jessica, but... why did you agree so easily....”

Jessica shook her head, a serene smile on her face. ”Don’t misunderstand, Miss Amiya.”

”I’m certainly reluctant to let Mr. Reeve go. After all, he’s also very important to me. Very, very important.”

”However, he has amnesia right now and can’t find his past. That’s why I hope Mr. Reeve can go back to Rhodes Island with you, in the hope that it might help him recover some of his memories.”

Wow~~

Amiya was incredibly moved at that moment. She couldn’t help but grab Jessica’s small hands.

”Miss Jessica, you’re such a good person!!!”

Suddenly, Jessica’s expression turned slightly serious. ”However, I hope Rhodes Island will treat Mr. Reeve well. Otherwise, Raythean Medica will immediately terminate all cooperation with Rhodes Island.”

Although the current Jessica still seemed soft and gentle.

As the CEO of Raythean Medica, she had already begun to cultivate a slight air of authority.

”Don’t worry!”

Amiya assured her. ”Miss Jessica, the Doctor is our dearest family and partner!”

Just then.

The other Rhodes Island members sitting on the sofa couldn’t help but turn to look at Kal’tsit.

Kal’tsit just snorted coldly, turned her head away, and said no more.

At noon.

Jessica specially had the Rhodes Island group stay for a meal at the company. Afterward, she personally escorted them and Lucas Reeve to Raythean Medica’s helipad, watching as Lucas Reeve and the Rhodes Island members boarded the aircraft.

”Doctor~~”

The aircraft took off, soaring high into the sky. The entire Mobile City shrank until it was just a small dot.

Amiya happily threw herself into Lucas Reeve’s arms.

Her body was small, fragrant, and soft.

Especially the pair of very, very long rabbit ears on her head, the tips of which almost poked Lucas Reeve’s chin.

Seeing Lucas Reeve’s blank, even somewhat bewildered expression.

Amiya quickly blushed and moved away from him.

”I’m sorry, Doctor. I just got too excited. I forgot you’re currently in a state of amnesia and don’t know us at all.”

”Indeed.”

Lucas Reeve sized everyone up.

He tried to awaken the memories that simply didn’t exist in his mind.

However, it was of no use.

His mind seemed completely devoid of any related memories, no matter how hard he tried to recall them.

”Doctor, let me reintroduce everyone to you.”

”We’re called Rhodes Island now. This is our old colleague, Big Brother ACE.”

Amiya started her introductions with ACE.

ACE was a burly man. He slowly stood up, even taller than Lucas Reeve’s current body. He wore tactical sunglasses and seemed to have a fierce expression, yet his voice was very calm when he spoke.

”Hello, Doctor. Operator ACE reporting. I’m very happy you could return to Rhodes Island.”

”Hello...”

Lucas Reeve nodded slightly, his eyes scanning ACE from top to bottom.

*Not bad strength.*

*Elite Operator level. Quite strong among mortals.*

”Doctor, this is Miss Warfarin. She’s a Vampire and also the head of our blood bank at Rhodes Island.”

Actually, Lucas Reeve had noticed this Vampire lady long ago.

Because the way she looked at him was completely off.

Her eyes were practically sparkling with hearts, and a stream of crystal-clear saliva was drooling from the corner of her mouth. After seeing him, her slender legs couldn’t stop rubbing against each other.

That expression, those hearts... *Hiss*.

Lucas Reeve felt there was so much to unpack here.

Anyone who didn’t know better would think he was holding a remote control...

*What kind of doujinshi plot is this?*

”Doctor, can you give me some of your blood? I can barely hold back, you know? Do you know how empty I’ve been on all those nights without you? I’m always thinking about your blood. If you can, even just a bag, or even a mouthful is fine, I can accept it!! Ahh! That hurts, Kal’tsit!!”

Warfarin clutched her smoking head and squatted in a corner.

Kal’tsit snorted. ”Act normal!”

*Hiss...*

*This old monster is so violent...*

Lucas Reeve couldn’t help but complain internally.

”This is Blaze, our new Elite Operator at Rhodes Island. This should be your first time meeting.”

The lively and beautiful big cat, Blaze, energetically stood up, made a gesture towards Lucas Reeve, and said with a smile.

”Nice to meet you, Mr. Doctor. I’ve actually heard tales about you from Amiya for a long time. You’re younger and more handsome than I imagined~ Let’s go for a drink sometime.”

”Mhm.”

Lucas Reeve nodded. Lastly, it was Kal’tsit’s turn.

Kal’tsit still wore her indifferent cat-faced bastard expression, casually glancing at Lucas Reeve. That look... it seemed she and this person called ’Doctor’ did not get along at all.

*Does she have a grudge against this ’Doctor’?*

”Doctor, this is Dr. Kal’tsit...”

Amiya was about to continue her introduction.

Suddenly, Kal’tsit interrupted her.

”No need for me.”

”If you can remember, then remember. If you can’t, then so be it. You should be glad you have amnesia, Doctor. If you didn’t, no matter what Amiya and the others said, I would never have allowed you to return to Rhodes Island!”

”Dr. Kal’tsit!”

Amiya hadn’t expected Kal’tsit’s words to be so sharp and quickly tried to smooth things over.

Lucas Reeve’s mouth twitched uncontrollably, a hint of annoyance rising within him.

*Who the hell are you?*

*Do I know you? Who are you trying to impress, putting on airs right from the start?*

Lucas Reeve crossed his arms and stood directly in front of Kal’tsit, looking down at her.

”Miss Kal’tsit? Might I ask how exactly I offended you in the past?”

Lucas Reeve’s tone made Amiya extremely anxious. She hadn’t expected the Doctor to be so confrontational, directly challenging Dr. Kal’tsit.

Nearby, Warfarin was enjoying the drama, thinking to herself.

*Finally, someone dares to talk back to this old woman! Hehehe, this feels good.*

As for Blaze, she took on the role of a spectator, happily watching the show from the side.

”Um, Doctor...”

Amiya took Lucas Reeve’s hand, trying to pull him away.

”I’m sorry, Dr. Kal’tsit’s personality has always been like this. And, well, you two did have some friction in the past... so... so...”

Kal’tsit snorted coldly, turned her head away, and didn’t speak to Lucas Reeve.

Lucas Reeve sat down next to Amiya.

Lucas Reeve currently had absolutely no memories of the past; he could be described as a complete outsider. For someone to deliberately put on airs right from the start would make even the most calm person feel at least a little annoyed.

If it weren’t for his consideration of Kal’tsit’s status as a millennia-old monster, Lucas Reeve might not have been so polite just now.

Rhodes Island was located next to Lungmen.

The flight from Columbia to Lungmen would take about three hours.

”Doctor, we’re almost there. Ahead of us is where we live now, the Rhodes Island landship.”

Amiya took Lucas Reeve’s hand and pointed out the aircraft window.

Lucas Reeve glanced casually, not saying a word.

He had seen the Rhodes Island landship before, back when he was on a mission with the girls from Penguin Logistics. At the time, he had even made a mental flag.

*’I will almost certainly never have anything to do with this company, Rhodes Island.’*

Thinking back on it now.

Lucas Reeve felt that his past self was like an old general on a stage, planting flags all over the place. He was practically flying flags.

Unexpectedly.

That flag had been fulfilled so quickly.

Lucas Reeve originally thought he would never have any dealings with Rhodes Island in his life, and now... he was about to live there.

Along the way.

Lucas Reeve also asked Amiya many questions about this body, about the Doctor, and about his past self’s deeds.

Unexpectedly, it was quite a rich history.

For example, his past self was ridiculously brilliant.

A leading scholar in Oripathy treatment and Catastrophe research, holding doctorates in biology, neuro-engineering, and so on.

Tsk tsk...

To think that he, a mere undergraduate, had somehow obtained not just one, but multiple doctorates. Besides that, his past self also seemed to have been a member of an organization called Babel. Babel was founded by the Sarkaz princess of Kazdel, Theresa, and he had served as Babel’s field commander during the Sarkaz Royal Court civil war. His track record could almost be described as heaven-defying, with all sorts of outrageous tactics. Who knows how many battles he had won against overwhelming odds.

He was even given the title [Ghost of Babel].

After listening to Amiya recount his incredibly illustrious past, Lucas Reeve for the first time thought to himself, *Was I really that smart?* The only drawback was probably his lack of combat ability.

However, his current self was good for nothing but eating.

Let alone tactics.

This body was so weak that Lucas Reeve had not even the slightest desire to fight.

Amiya said a lot, and was even very detailed in some parts, trying to use these detailed memories to awaken the Doctor’s lost ones.

However.

These past memories provided Lucas Reeve with no help whatsoever. His mind remained a complete blank, as if the person Amiya was describing had no connection to him at all. It was a little strange...

And when Lucas Reeve asked why she only described his glorious side, Amiya would stammer and be unable to speak.

As for when he asked about the friction between him and Kal’tsit, Amiya also chose to remain silent.

Probably...

She didn’t want the current amnesiac him to bear the burden of his past mistakes.

The aircraft slowly landed on the flight deck of Rhodes Island.

Amiya took Lucas Reeve’s hand and said cheerfully, ”Come on, Doctor, we’re home. Welcome home~”

”Mhm.”

Lucas Reeve also smiled and ruffled the cute Amiya’s head. Although he didn’t know her, he had a very good impression of this adorable little girl. As for Kal’tsit... uh... forget it. She had spent the whole trip with her white chin held high, legs crossed, refusing to look at him.

From the plane, Rhodes Island might have looked average in size, but upon actually landing, he realized it was truly huge.

Under Amiya’s detailed introduction.

Rhodes Island was divided into five floors.

The first floor was the industrial area, where all the manufacturing stations and such were located. Land-runners, warehouses, and basic power supply units were all concentrated on the bottom floor. There was also a training area for intern operators’ daily training. The second floor was the dining and recreational area, including a bar, a small cinema, a gym, and so on. Of course, the dining hall was free, but places like the bar and gym required money.

The third and fourth floors were the unified medical and residential areas.

The fifth floor was the smallest.

It housed the bridge and conference hall, including Kal’tsit’s dorm and office, Amiya’s dorm and office, and now that Lucas Reeve was back, the fifth floor also had a dorm and office for him.

There were quite a few people inside Rhodes Island, more than he had imagined.

But along the way.

Lucas Reeve felt like something was missing.

Although there were more people than at Jessica’s place.

For some reason, it wasn’t as lively as Jessica’s place.

How many operators were at Jessica’s? It was so lively.

And while there were many people here at Rhodes Island, it inexplicably seemed to lack a certain liveliness.

Since they had come down from the flight deck.

Amiya started the tour from the top. When they reached the medical area on the fourth floor.

Suddenly.

A doctor with dark green hair, wearing a Rhodes Island doctor’s uniform, happened to be passing by.

”Eh? Good afternoon, Amiya~”

The dark green-haired girl jogged over.

”You’re back from Columbia? How did the talks go? Hmm?”

Suddenly.

The dark green-haired girl noticed Lucas Reeve next to Amiya, looking a little puzzled.

”Amiya, who is this? A new operator of ours?”

”No... no, this is the Doctor, the third founder of our Rhodes Island.”

Amiya quickly explained.

Upon hearing the word ”Doctor,” the other person first froze, then had a sudden realization.

”So it’s the Doctor? Nice to meet you for the first time. I’m Gavial, a medical operator at Rhodes Island.”

Gavial’s dark green long hair was very rare, and the crocodile tail behind her, while not overly thick, was very powerful.

”Hello.”

Lucas Reeve nodded.

Suddenly.

He felt that the name Gavial was a little familiar, as if he had heard it somewhere before. He blurted out.

”Miss Gavial, are you from the Sargon rainforest?”

”??”

Gavial was stunned, not expecting this Doctor to be so accurate.

Conversely, Amiya was equally surprised.

*As expected of the Doctor!!*

*To be able to tell Miss Gavial’s origin at first glance during their very first meeting, he’s truly amazing!! Such analytical ability!*

”Do you know me?”

Gavial was a little puzzled.

Lucas Reeve shook his head. ”No, but do you know someone named Zumama?”

”Zumama!!”

Gavial froze on the spot, then became ecstatic and asked, ”Doctor, you know Zumama!!”

Gavial might look thin, but she was incredibly strong. As she grabbed Lucas Reeve’s body, it felt like she was about to shake it apart.

”I have a good relationship with Zumama.”

”Oh!!”

”Doctor, have you been to the Sargon rainforest? How is Zumama now? I haven’t seen her in several years. Is she doing well back home?”

”No... Zumama is studying at Columbia University now. She’s an undergraduate. She just finished all her make-up exams not long ago.”

Gavial: ”???”
