Becoming Their Guiding Spirit

# Chapter 155: I’m up, one-shot kill, what’s there to say? ”Boss... what do we do?!”

The Mafia member at the door spoke with a slight nervousness. Of course, it wasn’t because he was facing his boss, but because he had witnessed the entire process through the monitors, and it was nothing short of brutal.

This was the first time this Mafia member had witnessed what it meant to fight one against a hundred.

The experimental base was extremely important, so for the sake of secrecy and security, the Mafia members stationed here were basically the elite of the [Wolf Fang] family. Out in the world, they were generally experts capable of taking on two or three opponents at once. But in front of this man...

They were as weak as little lambs.

He mowed them down with incredible ease. There were no flashy skills, only simple, unadorned slashes and effortless dodges against all sorts of crossbow attacks.

What kind of monster is he!!!

The cold-faced Mafia boss angrily kicked his subordinate to the ground. The unlucky fellow rolled a long way before stopping, a sharp pain in his chest indicating a probable rib fracture.

”Useless!! There’s only one opponent and look how scared you are!!”

What angered the boss was that his carefully trained subordinates were actually frightened by a single enemy.

”I don’t believe it!!”

Meanwhile, the subordinate curled up on the ground was screaming internally.

*It’s not just one person!!*

*There are two little girls too.*

*And that Perro girl is just as ferocious!!*

The Patriarch of [Wolf Fang] went to the base’s main control room and brought up the surveillance feeds from various parts of the base. All he saw were bodies littering the ground. From the entrance to the corridors, bodies were piled up, at least a few hundred of them.

*Gulp...*

The Patriarch’s heart skipped a beat.

It’s actually true?!

He then frantically ordered his men to switch the cameras to find the intruder.

In a short while,

the man and the two little girls were located on the third underground level’s surveillance feed.

The man’s face was completely unfamiliar to the boss; he had never seen him before. Not just Lucas Reeve, but the two little girls with him as well. He couldn’t remember provoking such a character. After all, to be able to kill several hundred experts in a direct confrontation, even the legendary assassins of Siracusa were far from capable of this.

The Patriarch of [Wolf Fang] couldn’t figure it out.

This base was sufficiently secret. He was certain that not even the Sicily family could possibly know about it. So why!

This experimental base had been established for a very, very long time, conducting unspeakable human experiments for the [Wolf Fang] family. One of the family’s well-known secret forces, the ’Wolf Pack’, was a product of this very base.

They would capture children under the age of three from the territories they controlled or from other families’ territories. Then, almost every meal would consist of special experimental drugs and hormones, which not only accelerated their growth but also gave them superhuman strength. These special hormones were also a product of the lab.

In two years, a three-year-old child could grow to look like a sixteen-year-old. Of course, the price was obvious: a lifespan of only three years.

For them, three years was enough. Their relatively low intelligence made them easier to control. They only needed to know who to listen to and who to kill. After one batch died, another would be cultivated. The process was cruel, but over the years, these many ’Wolf Pack’ death-sworn had rendered countless services to the family, including multiple suicide attacks.

The laboratory was divided into eighteen underground levels.

It was designed and built by the patriarch with inspiration from the legendary eighteen levels of hell. The deeper you went, the higher the risk of the experiments, and the more cruel they became. As for the girl who could supposedly connect to the ’underworld,’ she was locked up on the seventeenth level.

This experimental base had been the [Wolf Fang] family’s greatest reliance for many years, and it was their capital in their attempt to rule all of Siracusa.

Suddenly,

he noticed a little girl next to Lucas Reeve, carrying a huge, unfamiliar black ’staff’ on her back and holding a firearm.

That face....

Due to the camera’s resolution, he couldn’t see the finer details of her face. He immediately ordered his subordinates to take a screenshot of the girl and analyze it clearly.

Nine tails?

A nine-tailed fox?!!

Paired with that somewhat familiar face.

In an instant,

the Patriarch seemed to think of something. Nine-tailed foxes were too rare in Siracusa, even beyond the scope of rare. Perhaps there was only this one.

Vulpisfoglia’s daughter?!

Actually, he was also a bit interested in the assassin Vulpisfoglia. After all, no one would complain about having too many cards in their hand.

Since Vulpisfoglia’s daughter had delivered herself to his doorstep, he couldn’t be blamed for being impolite.

As long as he captured Vulpisfoglia’s daughter, he could easily use the kinship he disdained to force Vulpisfoglia to appear and serve them.

However,

the man leading them seemed to be very strong. He had his subordinates pull up the previous surveillance footage for a brief review. He had killed so many of his men almost purely with the sword in his hand, one by one.

In an instant, the Patriarch became interested in Lucas Reeve as well. Such a powerful person had just walked in. If he could be captured and brainwashed, he could be of great use. A peak expert was much more useful than a few hundred lackeys. After all, lackeys could be recruited easily, but experts were rare.

The Patriarch picked up the microphone in the control room and gave an order to his secretary.

”Order everyone, the regular grunts don’t need to engage. Lure him to the ninth level and send out three CT-135 test subjects. Don’t kill the man and the nine-tailed fox girl; capture them with heavy injuries. As for the other Perro girl, it doesn’t matter. Just let her be today’s meal for the CT-135s.”

”Yes, sir!!!”

”Mr. Reeve! How come there are no more enemies?”

Lisa cautiously followed behind Lucas Reeve, her pistol held in a ready-to-fire stance as she advanced slowly. Ceobe, on the other hand, was much more relaxed. She walked with a skip in her step, as if she were on a tour. Perhaps that was just Ceobe’s personality.

After killing who knows how many Mafia members on the third level, the endless stream of them seemed to have stopped coming.

Lucas Reeve had now descended several levels, reaching the eighth, but he hadn’t seen a single person. Some rooms even had steaming cups of coffee, open computers, and scattered slippers, making it clear that the people here had deliberately retreated under orders not to directly confront him.

Moreover, Lucas Reeve had seen many cameras along the way. He figured the person in control of this base must be watching him from a monitoring room deep inside.

Facing the last camera on the eighth floor, Lucas Reeve gave it the middle finger. Ceobe, imitating him, pulled down her eyelid and stuck her tongue out at the camera.

If nothing unexpected happens,

the controller of this base probably intends for me to reach a designated area and then send out a boss. Lucas Reeve was all too familiar with this routine. Besides, he wasn’t just walking; he also had a habit of searching the rooms. In some labs, he found some simple experiment reports, a full eighty percent of which were about human experiments. This truly disgusted him.

So many human experiment reports... how many people must have been victimized...

Even.

On the eighth underground level, Lucas Reeve found a cold storage unit specifically for human organs.

An unknown number of large refrigerated units were filled with all sorts of human organs. There were even many beating hearts in nutrient solutions. So many hearts, who knows how many people they had killed.

[Wolf Fang], was it?

This Mafia...

Lucas Reeve felt they no longer needed to exist.

If this kind of Mafia were to unify all of Siracusa, hmph...

the great nation would probably turn into a living hell.

No wonder Lisa’s mother wanted to make a change.

Perhaps she had long known of the evil of these Mafia families...

But her own strength was ultimately insufficient, so she had to settle for joining a slightly more peaceful faction.

Furthermore, as Lucas Reeve went deeper, the spiritual thread seen through his spiritual sight became more and more distinct, and a girl’s voice once again echoed in his ear.

It was very faint, but seemed to be filled with apology.

”So... sorry...”

An apology?

And within the apology, there was a hint of helplessness.

She wants me to save her, but has no other way, so she had to resort to this?

Her attitude is decent.

As long as Jessica and the other three are ultimately safe, Lucas Reeve wouldn’t mind demanding some compensation and letting the matter slide. After all, making him take such a risk, even going up against a large Mafia family, was not a small price. If he didn’t demand some compensation, Lucas Reeve would feel like he was doing charity.

Taking the elevator, Lucas Reeve arrived at the ninth level.

When the elevator doors opened,

the ninth level was empty. It was completely different from the office areas of the other floors. The moment the elevator doors opened on the ninth floor, there was a huge fighting arena...

And.

The guidance of the spiritual thread also pointed downwards.

Oh boy...

The old routine...

This floor is one hundred percent a boss fight.

Lucas Reeve smiled faintly. Instead of walking out, he dishonorably pressed the button for a lower floor. However, the button didn’t work.

Locked, is it....

Forcing me to go through the ninth floor...

Lucas Reeve told Lisa to be careful. After all, although her combat experience and physical fitness were good, she was still far from being an Elite Operator. He instructed Ceobe to protect Lisa.

He himself walked at the very front.

*Psssh!*

As the three of them walked to the center of the arena, the metal gate not far away suddenly made a noise as if it were about to open. Then, with a loud rumble, the metal gate opened to both sides.

The eerie atmosphere made the vast arena seem incredibly terrifying.

Lisa, a little scared, held the sniper rifle from her back in her hands, ready to give whatever monster was about to come a bullet. Ceobe, on the other hand, was bouncing with excitement. She seemed to smell a fresh, unfamiliar scent from within the darkness of the gate, like a beast encountering prey it had never seen before—curious and eager to fight.

Three dark shadows shot out from the gate like lightning.

These three were very fast.

An ordinary person would find it difficult to even catch their shadows, but under Lucas Reeve’s Transparent World, this little bit of speed was not enough to impress.

The three monsters clung to the wall with their sharp claws.

They were humanoid, but their bodies were completely devoid of skin, revealing only red muscles. These muscles were thick and as hard as steel, each fiber seemingly containing superhuman strength. Their bone density was also many times higher than that of an ordinary person.

Due to the lack of skin,

their bloody faces were even more ferocious, and you could even see the brain tissue inside.

”Ah!!”

Lisa cried out in alarm.

She had never seen such a disgusting monster.

It was clearly a person!

But it had been skinned alive and then transformed into such a weapon of slaughter through cruel experiments.

Lucas Reeve frowned slightly. They looked a bit like the Lickers from a game in his past life, except their bodies were larger. Roughly estimating, if converted to human height, each was about three meters tall.

And at this moment,

the Patriarch in the command room was extremely satisfied with his experimental product.

Although it had never been revealed to the public, it had already undergone several rounds of live combat testing. Each one had the strength to kill two hundred people. Although they had no skin, their specially enhanced muscles could withstand a lot of attacks. Even a headshot or a pierced chest would not kill them easily.

Although there were only twelve in total,

this was one of the [Wolf Fang] family’s proudest weapons. In the future, if they were to have another deathmatch with the Sicily family, he was very much looking forward to the role this ’weapon’ would play on the battlefield.

The Patriarch of [Wolf Fang] didn’t think Lucas Reeve could defeat three of these monsters, especially with two burdens in tow. He just hoped they wouldn’t die too quickly, that they would last long enough for him to intervene at the critical moment.

And in the arena,

Lucas Reeve naturally didn’t know what the person behind the scenes was thinking.

But looking through the muscle tissue and bones of these three monsters with his Transparent World, honestly, they were indeed much stronger than ordinary operators.

However,

Lucas Reeve’s evaluation was: mediocre...

Let alone him personally taking action,

this kind of monster would be a one-shot kill for certain operators.

For example, Franka.

Her Thermite Blade ignored all defenses, rendering this monster’s proud muscle strength effectively useless. It was basically a one-hit-kill fodder. Of course, against ordinary operators, this monster would be at a massacre level.

Lucas Reeve sighed. He had thought they would send out some powerful boss.

One look and he identified them as: purely mediocre fodder.

Since there was a slightly stronger elite monster, Lucas Reeve decided to let Lisa accumulate some combat experience. He stepped to the side and said to her.

”Come on, Little Lisa, you handle them.”

Lisa was a bit nervous. She immediately stood up straight.

”Yes, Mr. Reeve!”

Then, her body instinctively raised the sniper rifle in her hands, and the next second, she pulled the trigger. The powerful recoil sent Lisa falling backward onto the ground.

The specially made Originium Rounds instantly left the barrel, tearing through the air. The speed was so fast that even these monsters with their enhanced senses couldn’t react. The next second, one of the monsters was shot in the head. Under the powerful impact of the special Originium Rounds, its entire upper body exploded.

The large corpse fell powerlessly to the ground.

One-shot kill, what’s there to say.

This result seemed to have been within Lucas Reeve’s expectations. After all, he was well aware of the power of the sniper rifle he had personally crafted. For a fleshy creature like this, if it couldn’t be one-shotted, Lucas Reeve would even suspect that there was something wrong with his forging skills.

And through the camera,

the Patriarch of [Wolf Fang]’s mouth was agape like a goose egg, his face filled with shock.

Just... one-shotted like that?!!

What kind of weapon is that!!

My biological weapons that I’ve researched for so many years can’t even compare to a big black tube?!!
