Becoming Their Guiding Spirit

# Chapter 159: The Demise of 【Wolf Fang】 Lucas Reeve spent several hours completely clearing out the [Wolf Fang]’s experimental base. He even had the unmanned transport aircraft land from the sky at the base’s entrance. Large bundles of experimental data and other useful items were all loaded onto the aircraft by Lucas Reeve, ready to be shipped back to Columbia.

It had to be said.

No wonder Ursus was so keen on expansion. This was indeed a fast way to make money.

Since this experimental base was the core of this ruling family, in addition to human and other life experiments, it also stored a massive amount of wealth. An entire warehouse was filled with gold bars, vast quantities of Lungmen Dollars, and rare High-Purity Originium.

The total value of the gold bars and Lungmen Dollars amounted to tens of billions.

So much money.

Franka was certainly green with envy. She even did a quick calculation: based on her annual salary of four million, it would take her ten thousand years of working without eating or drinking to earn that much.

Of course.

While these things were coveted by others.

For Lucas Reeve and Jessica, they were the most useless items.

One didn’t need money, and the other wasn’t short on it.

Neither of them had any interest in money.

Lucas Reeve certainly wasn’t going to take this money. Instead, he planned to use it to compensate the families torn apart by the [Wolf Fang] family.

Of course.

To truly defeat an enemy, one must first crush their spirit.

Before ransacking the entire base, Lucas Reeve woke up the [Wolf Fang] Patriarch and made him witness the entire process of him clearing out the base.

The Patriarch’s expression was truly a sight to behold.

Especially when Lucas Reeve kicked open the warehouse storing the gold bars and Lungmen Dollars.

He was so angry he nearly fainted. And when Lucas Reeve said he planned to use the money to compensate the victims’ families, the Patriarch cursed Lucas Reeve ten thousand times in his heart. His face twisted into a grotesque expression, turning completely red. This method of psychological torture was even more effective than killing him directly.

What could be moved was taken; what couldn’t be was left behind.

As for the researchers and surviving test subjects who had been forcibly imprisoned in the experimental base, they didn’t leave either. They gathered in the forest. After all, the outside was wilderness, and traveling on foot had a 50% mortality rate. Having survived so much, they didn’t want to die on the road to escape.

Lucas Reeve also entrusted Jessica with notifying the Raythean Industries branch office in Siracusa.

Among this large group of people were many scientific researchers from various fields with solid professional knowledge, who could be recruited into the Raythean Industries branch. As for the lucky surviving test subjects, Lucas Reeve gave each of them a large sum of money and let them leave with the Raythean Industries transport, each returning to their own hometown.

During this time.

The effect of the sedative on the little girl wore off. She sat up, somewhat at a loss. After all, although her body had been unable to move, she could see and hear, so she naturally knew what had happened during this period.

”Little girl, what’s your name?”

Jessica crouched in front of the little girl, a gentle smile on her face. Her personality now seemed more gentle and mature, likely influenced to some extent by the dream.

After learning about the little girl’s ordeal from Lucas Reeve, Jessica felt very sorry for her.

She didn’t speak, just stared blankly at Jessica, who looked like a gentle angel before her. Although... she wasn’t much taller than herself, her figure wasn’t very mature, and her appearance was very cute. At first glance, she looked only a little older than her.

Her pale lips moved, wanting to speak, but in the end, nothing came out.

”Shamare~”

The teddy bear next to the little girl bounced up and spoke on her behalf.

Shamare was very cute, with rare, natural long pink hair, pink eyes, and pink fox ears. Behind her was a pink fox tail. Her face showed no expression, a classic three-wants girl.

At the same time.

Without the control of the Originium Arts inhibitor.

The immense power that had accumulated within Shamare was involuntarily released.

Suddenly.

Jessica felt a little cold. When she turned her head, she noticed that at some point, various malevolent spirits of different appearances had appeared around Shamare.

An ordinary person might have been scared, but not only was Jessica not afraid, she was quite curious.

Not far away, Lucas Reeve, who was inventorying the spoils, seemed to sense something. He glanced over, and instantly, the malevolent spirits that had been floating outside all scattered and dissipated as if they were mice seeing a cat.

Little Moti also quickly patted Shamare and apologized to Jessica.

”I’m sorry, Shamare can’t fully control her power yet~”

It was afraid that the god not far away would mistake it for hostile intent, which would be disastrous, so it quickly explained.

”It’s okay.”

Jessica didn’t mind at all and continued to chat with Shamare. Magallan also trotted over. She had naturally seen the large wave of malevolent spirits just now and curiously asked Shamare to release them again. Ceobe also came running over, chirping around Shamare.

Shamare was also a bit surprised at this moment.

Although she was silent and taciturn, it didn’t mean she couldn’t think.

Looking at the group of older sisters chattering around her, she was a little puzzled.

Why...

Why weren’t these people afraid of her.

Even though they had clearly seen the malevolent spirits she had summoned....

In the past, she had lived in a villa for a long time, and everyone was afraid of her. It was this living environment that had shaped Shamare’s current reclusive personality. This... was the first time she had ever met people who weren’t afraid of her...

Little Moti wobbled away from Shamare’s side and came to Lucas Reeve.

”What is it?”

Lucas Reeve was currently loading things onto the drone. He casually asked Little Moti, who had trotted over.

”Thank you for saving us.”

Then, the doll’s little hand tore open the thread on its chest, revealing the cotton inside. Its little hand fumbled inside, and then, a round bead appeared in its palm.

The small bead was crystal clear, shining more brilliantly than any crystal under the sunlight.

”Payment?”

Lucas Reeve couldn’t help but smile and accepted it without ceremony.

”What does it do?”

”It can save your life when you’re on the brink of death.”

It was indeed a treasure.

Although it was probably useless to Lucas Reeve, and he didn’t want to be in a situation where he would need it, having an extra life-saving item meant an extra life. Even if he didn’t need it, someone around him might in the future. After all, in Franka’s previous situation, if Lucas Reeve hadn’t arrived in time, it would have been a certain-death scenario.

”So, what exactly are you?”

Lucas Reeve asked Little Moti while continuing to load the cargo.

Little Moti stitched up its own chest and then scratched its head, saying.

”I don’t know....”

”Then forget it.”

Lucas Reeve didn’t press further. Because, under his spiritual sight, the little girl named Shamare not far away was a bit strange. Her whole being seemed to possess a strange attraction, able to naturally draw in malevolent spirits and also evoke a person’s fear. And this Little Moti seemed to feed on emotions. Lucas Reeve had never seen or even heard of such Originium Arts before.

One could only say that this world was vast, and there were bound to be many ’extraordinary people’.

Jessica had no intention of leaving Shamare in Siracusa. After discussing it with Lucas Reeve and seeing that Shamare didn’t object, she simply decided to adopt the little girl. Her villa was huge anyway. Although Ceobe, Ifrit, Liskarm, and Franka were already living there, there were still plenty of empty rooms. One could only say that the life of the rich was simple, unadorned, and boring.

Moreover.

Lucas Reeve also discovered something special.

Wherever Ceobe was.

The malevolent spirits that constantly lingered around Shamare would consciously stay away, as if they were afraid of something. Also, because Jessica’s body was fused with a part of his soul, these spirits didn’t dare to get close to her either.

Once everything was loaded, Lucas Reeve ordered the drone to return to the Raythean Medica warehouse first, where dedicated staff would handle the unloading.

The special plane from the Raythean Industries Siracusa branch also arrived.

The project leader in charge was sweating nervously, afraid that something had happened to his young miss. Seeing that she was fine, the general manager finally breathed a sigh of relief.

Afterward, following instructions, he transported all the researchers and ordinary survivors back to Siracusa. On the aircraft, he once again asked the scientific researchers for their opinions on whether they were willing to work for Raythean Industries, and received agreement from seventy percent. The other thirty percent were already numb; they just wanted to go home and live ordinary lives.

And the ironclad proof of the [Wolf Fang] Mafia’s crimes was intentionally spread throughout Siracusa by Lucas Reeve, including the bloody human experiments and the methods of cultivating the ’Wolf Pack’. These cruel atrocities completely enraged the people in the area controlled by [Wolf Fang].

And Sicily was very clever. Under the banner of punishing brutality, they quietly launched a fierce attack. Having lost a large number of biological weapons, the [Wolf Fang]’s public headquarters was only manned by ordinary thugs. Under Sicily’s sudden attack, they couldn’t hold out at all. The battle lasted for many days, and [Wolf Fang], once a ruling Mafia behemoth, was completely annihilated.

The other three ruling Mafia families were in a dilemma. If they helped [Wolf Fang], it would be tantamount to publicly admitting their involvement in the human experiments. But if they didn’t intervene, after Sicily swallowed up Wolf Fang, their power would grow significantly, making it even harder to deal with them in the future.

So, they decided to go all in and join Sicily in annihilating [Wolf Fang], desperately scrambling for [Wolf Fang]’s former territory and resources.

And after [Wolf Fang] completely became a thing of the past.

The former Patriarch of [Wolf Fang] was stripped naked and hung on a pole in the center of the mobile city where the family was once based, for the common people to line up and spit on. The Sicily family did nothing to stop it, letting it run its course. The other families were left guessing who was behind it all.

They knew of [Wolf Fang]’s strength. Among the five major Mafia families, it wasn’t the strongest, but it was in the middle tier. It had stood on the land of Siracusa for so many years, only to be wiped out so easily. The other two families, who were weaker than [Wolf Fang], were now on edge, telling their underlings to temporarily halt all their dirty work.

And Lisa’s mother, currently in a remote location within the territory controlled by the [Famiglia Venezia] family, was in complete disbelief after hearing the news.

She certainly wouldn’t believe the rumors circulating among the common folk.

Saying that [Wolf Fang] was utterly evil and had committed heinous crimes, so the other four major Mafia families had teamed up to destroy them.

Was that possible?

Putting Sicily aside.

The destruction of [Wolf Fang] offered no benefit to the other three Mafia families who were allied against Sicily.

In other words, the ones who actually destroyed [Wolf Fang] were someone else.

And another, less widespread legend told of a young man and two little girls who single-handedly destroyed the entire [Wolf Fang]. Because this version was too outrageous, naturally, no one believed it. After all, how could anyone believe that three people could wipe out such a large ruling family? It was too absurd....

And Lisa’s mother, upon hearing this rumor, also thought of her daughter and her Shikigami.

However, after a moment’s thought, she still deemed it impossible.

After all, her daughter was just an ordinary person.

It had only been a month and a half.

One could only say that the world was vast...

Although she was called a legendary assassin in Siracusa, compared to these people, she was nothing. A ruling family that she saw as a behemoth, these people could destroy it as they pleased..... sigh... she wondered how her daughter was doing now.

Since they still had Parvis on their hands.

Jessica had originally wanted to ask Lisa if she wanted to go to Columbia so they could all live together, but Lisa declined. She had more important things to do.

With a sigh.

Jessica and the others also boarded the special plane, carrying Parvis and the artificial infected organ in its container, and left for Columbia.

As for Lucas Reeve, he naturally couldn’t leave Lisa’s side. He accompanied her in the rumbling ”old clunker” to other cities.

With so many people gone at once.

Lisa was still getting used to it.

Although [Wolf Fang] had been destroyed, the darkness in Siracusa had not disappeared. It was just one large black spot that had been erased. After this black spot, there were countless smaller black spots dotting Siracusa.

Lisa knew her strength was weak.

She couldn’t be like Mr. Reeve.

She used her own methods, time and again, to clear away the black spots as best she could. Although she might be following her mother’s old path, her mother was alone back then, while she had Mr. Reeve by her side.

A few hours later.

The aircraft arrived at Raythean Medica in Columbia.

At this time, Silence was discussing the feasibility of the next plan with Shining and Liz. The High Priest was sitting on the medical cart, making his daily ’patrols’, having gone from Raythean Industries to Raythean Medica.

As for Zumama, she was holed up in the library alone, numbly preparing for her make-up exams.

Suddenly.

They saw an aircraft landing in the warehouse not far away.

The group went over to take a look.

However.

Hermer saw a familiar figure coming down from the aircraft.

”Teacher Parvis!!”
