117: Chapter 117 The Mysterious Red MoonLi Hai was an ordinary elementary school teacher and also an astronomy enthusiast.

Upon learning that a once-in-a-few-decades Super Red Moon would occur today, he rushed to the rooftop of his residential building, eager to admire this rare astronomical phenomenon.

Although the Great Xia authorities had issued nationwide notices over the past two or three days, urging citizens not to go out and to stay at home during the ”Super Red Moon” event, most people still went out that night to satisfy their curiosity and desire for novelty.

After all, in people’s subconscious, cities were considered safe.

At this moment, the crimson red moon hung in the sky, and the entire Northern Hemisphere was shrouded in its deep red light!

Even in the Southern Hemisphere, where it was still daytime, the strange phenomenon of two ”red suns” appearing side-by-side occurred.

Li Hai stood on the rooftop of the high-rise building, using the astronomical telescope he had scrimped and saved to buy, observing the crimson red moon hanging in the sky.

With the help of the telescope, his field of vision was greatly enhanced, allowing him to observe the crimson red moon more clearly than the average person.

He could clearly see how the crimson red that appeared abruptly at the corner of the moon was rapidly eroding the dim moon.

He muttered to himself.

”The Super Red Moon is just like a starving ghost...”

”The lunar eclipse was completed in less than a minute...”

”But come to think of it, isn’t the duration of this red moon eclipse a bit too long?”

He took his eyes off the telescope and glanced at the watch on his right wrist.

”A normal lunar eclipse doesn’t last more than two minutes... it’s been nearly five minutes now, why hasn’t this red moon eclipse ended yet?”

He looked around at the scenery.

Standing on the rooftop of the residential building, his field of vision was very wide.

In his view, this modern city of reinforced concrete was draped in a layer of red gauze by the light emitted from the eclipsed red moon, reflecting dim crimson glows on the glass of every household; the red light filling the sky and covering the earth appeared somewhat eerie, causing an involuntary sense of unease in people’s hearts.

Li Hai, who had been staring at this scene for a long time, was somewhat mesmerized, but suddenly a cool breeze blew, making his body shiver and bringing him back to his senses.

He looked up at the crimson red moon still hanging high, then looked down at the watch on his wrist: ”Another minute or two have passed, it’s been five or six minutes now, why hasn’t this red moon eclipse ended?”

”It’s all blood red everywhere! I’m so scared, Brother Wang, do you think there are ghosts in this world?”

”Hahaha! Of course not!”

”The blood moon the ancients talked about is just the red moon eclipse we are seeing now. Back then, the ancients were feudal and said that encountering a blood moon would lead to demons wreaking havoc and the people suffering...”

”What era is it now? Don’t worry, Little Mei, even if there are demons or ghosts, I will protect you for the rest of my life!”

”Brother Wang, you are so kind...”

Li Hai looked at the couple embracing each other nearby, whispering sweet nothings, and his face darkened.

”Another pair of lovebirds!”

He gave the man holding the young girl a sour look, then turned his gaze to the surroundings.

The rooftop had not just been occupied by Li Hai from the beginning; it was full of people who had come to watch this rare Super Red Moon astronomical phenomenon.

An astronomy enthusiast suddenly asked the person next to him:

”Brother, do you feel anything strange about the Super Red Moon in the sky?”

”What?” The big guy who was asked was in the middle of uploading the photo of the red moon he had just taken to his social media, looking confused. He looked up at the red moon in the sky.

He replied.

”What’s strange about this? Isn’t it just a color change from the previous white moon?”

The astronomy enthusiast shivered, ”But I feel like the light emitted by this red moon is quite cold when it shines on my body.”

The big guy frowned, looked the astronomy enthusiast up and down, and suddenly a look of disdain appeared in his eyes.

”Look at how weak you are. Feeling cold on a summer night? You should do less handiwork in the future, otherwise when you...”

”Wait! Big brother, don’t say it! Let’s pretend I didn’t ask anything!” The astronomy enthusiast interrupted the big guy’s words, looking ashamed.

Suddenly,

”Hiss... so cold!”

”Me too... strange, it’s mid-summer, and there isn’t much wind here... how could the temperature drop so sharply all of a sudden...”

”Phew... so cold...”

Everyone on the rooftop couldn’t help but shiver. The surrounding temperature seemed to have dropped sharply, making their bodies suddenly feel uncomfortable.

Someone turned on their phone to test the surrounding temperature and shouted in confusion:

”Damn! Is my phone broken?! The surrounding temperature is still at twenty-five degrees, it hasn’t changed at all!”

”Damn it! My phone is showing the same thing!”

”What is going on...”

The red light emitted by the crimson red moon in the sky shone on everyone, covering everyone’s faces.

Now that this strange temperature phenomenon had appeared, it made everyone even more uneasy. Coupled with the environment filled with crimson red light, this eerie atmosphere started to make them panic.

In the panicked and noisy crowd, the astronomy enthusiast and the big guy stared at each other with wide eyes.

The big guy’s lips trembled, and his body shivered, ”I’m feeling a bit cold now too. Could this be a haunting?!”

The astronomy enthusiast gritted his teeth and looked up at the crimson red moon emitting red light in the night sky.

”It’s the reason for the Super Red Moon!”

”Go! Everyone, leave this place quickly... This red moon is not safe!”

The astronomy enthusiast roared, but suddenly stopped, because the previously noisy human voices had suddenly disappeared.

He looked around; everyone was like a marionette that had lost its strings, standing blankly on the spot, all looking up at the sky together.

The people in the surrounding environment were like walking corpses, having lost their souls; he was the only one left on the scene who could still move!

”Brother... how could they...”

When the astronomy enthusiast looked at the big guy in front of him with a seeking gaze, he was surprised to find that the big guy had also become like a wooden statue, just like everyone else, staring straight at the red moon with unfocused pupils, ignoring his call.

”How could it be like this... what exactly happened...”

”Could it be that I have entered a ghost wall, or am I hallucinating?!”

”This is not scientific! This must be fake! I must be dreaming!”

His voice gradually grew louder to bolster his courage!

Suddenly, his consciousness began to fade...

”What happened to me...”

His consciousness completely plunged into darkness...

A few seconds later, his body unconsciously, as if driven by something, stood straight on the spot, his chin slowly lifted, maintaining the same posture as the people around him, gazing up at the crimson red moon in the sky...

If one were to look closely, they would find that in the unfocused eyes of everyone, the reflection of the Super Red Moon had appeared...
