How am I Being a Gigolo When I'm Doing Door-to-door Sales?

126: Have a drink with my sisterThe woman had a slender figure and long, flowing hair like a waterfall. Even in her loungewear, she couldn’t hide the elegance and nobility ingrained in her bones.

She was Lan Qingyu’s mother, Lan Yanran.

When she saw Lin Chao entering the door carrying a strange girl, her beautiful phoenix eyes were instantly filled with astonishment.

Lin Chao was also taken aback.

He hadn’t expected that Lan Yanran would still be awake so late at night.

“Sister Yanran, you’re home?”

He spoke subconsciously, his tone carrying a hint of awkwardness that even he didn’t notice.

Lan Yanran’s gaze swept from Wu Xiuxiu in his arms to her own daughter, who was covered with a blanket on the sofa.

Her surprise instantly turned into suspicion: “Little brother, what’s going on here?”

Holding Wu Xiuxiu, Lin Chao tilted his chin toward the sofa with a mix of laughter and helplessness.

“Qingyu and her classmate drank too much.”

“I was passing by, so I brought them both back together.”

Upon hearing the words ’drank too much,’ Lan Yanran’s face darkened instantly.

Lin Chao’s heart skipped a beat, and he quickly explained, “Sister Yanran, please don’t misunderstand.”

“I wasn’t the one who made them drink.”

“It was Qingyu; she insisted she had a high alcohol tolerance and was invincible under heaven, but she passed out after just two cans of beer...”

His words carried a bit of helpless teasing.

After listening, Lan Yanran held her forehead and let out a long sigh.

“This troublesome girl...”

She looked at Lin Chao, her eyes filled with apology and gratitude.

“Little brother, thank you so much for tonight.”

“Qingyu mentioned to me before that she wanted to treat you to a meal to properly thank you. I didn’t expect it would be in this manner...”

Lan Yanran paused, her gaze landing on Wu Xiuxiu.

“Xiuxiu also lives in this community, but it’s still a bit far away.”

“Since she’s drunk like this too, let her sleep in the same room as Qingyu tonight. I’ll call her mother in a bit to let her know she’s safe.”

“However, I can’t move the two of them by myself.”

“I’ll have to trouble you a bit more to carry them up to Qingyu’s room on the second floor.”

Lin Chao immediately nodded: “No problem.”

Carrying Wu Xiuxiu, he followed Lan Yanran up to the second floor.

Under Lan Yanran’s guidance, he gently placed Wu Xiuxiu onto Lan Qingyu’s huge princess bed.

Afterward, he went downstairs again, picked up Lan Qingyu from the sofa, and brought her back to her room.

Having finally settled the two ’drunk cats,’ Lin Chao let out a long breath.

He walked out of the room, saw Lan Yanran waiting at the door, and prepared to take his leave.

“Sister Yanran, then... if there’s nothing else, I’ll head back first?”

Lan Yanran nodded slightly and reached out to pull her daughter’s door partially shut.

She turned around, leaning against the doorframe, her beautiful eyes quietly watching Lin Chao.

“Leaving just like that?”

Her voice was very soft, with a hint of lazy hoarseness. In this silent night, it was like a feather, gently scratching at the tip of one’s heart.

Tonight, she was the only one in the massive villa.

With her daughter not at home, she had eaten something simple alone and even opened a bottle of red wine.

Slightly tipsy, she had already been feeling a bit empty inside.

Just as she was preparing to go up to sleep, she heard the commotion downstairs.

She hadn’t expected the person coming would be him.

The moment she saw Lin Chao, that inexplicable loneliness in the depths of Lan Yanran’s heart seemed to find an outlet, making her suddenly feel an impulse to keep him there.

Lin Chao felt a bit uncomfortable under her gaze and scratched his head.

“That... the designated driver is still waiting for me outside!”

Upon hearing this, a faint smile played at the corners of Lan Yanran’s lips.

That smile carried the unique charm and allure of a mature woman.

“Let him go.”

She paused, her eyes burning as she looked at Lin Chao, finally saying what she truly wanted to say.

“Why don’t... you stay.”

“And have a drink with me?”

Looking at her eyes, which were startlingly bright in the dim light, Lin Chao’s heart stirred slightly.

Without almost any hesitation, he smiled and nodded.

“Alright.”

He said this word lightly and naturally, as if it were a matter of course.

Having received an affirmative answer, Lan Yanran was actually stunned for a moment. Then, as if to hide something, she looked away and gave a soft ’Mhm.’

“Then I’ll... go dismiss the driver.”

Lin Chao turned and walked toward the door.

His tall back quickly disappeared into the shadows of the foyer.

It wasn’t until the sound of the front door being gently closed came through that Lan Yanran seemed to have all her strength drained away. Her body softened slightly, and she leaned against the doorframe behind her.

She raised her hand and pressed her temples with some frustration.

What on earth was she doing?

Was she crazy?

In the middle of the night, a lone man and woman... keeping a man at home for drinks?

Lan Yanran, have you had too much to drink? Is your head not clear?

A strong impulse instantly surged in her heart to rush out and tell Lin Chao to forget it and just go home quickly.

However, her feet seemed nailed to the spot, too heavy to move even an inch.

Reason was screaming frantically that this was inappropriate.

But the loneliness deep in her heart, which had been suppressed for too long, was like a vine, tightly entwining her, making it impossible for her to refuse this sudden companionship that carried a hint of danger.

Just as she was having an internal struggle.

“Click.”

The door lock turned again.

Lin Chao pushed the door open and walked in.

He looked at Lan Yanran, who was still leaning against her daughter’s bedroom door on the second floor, with a gentle smile on his face.

“It’s settled.”

“The master has happily headed home on his folding bicycle.”

His relaxed tone instantly dissipated the faint awkwardness in the air.

Lan Yanran’s tense nerves also relaxed.

She took a deep breath, suppressed all the stray thoughts in her mind, and put back on the composure and elegance belonging to the mistress of the house.

Holding the stair railing, she walked down gracefully.

The champagne-colored silk nightgown outlined breathtaking curves as she moved, shimmering with a soft luster under the dim lights.

“What would you like to drink?”

She walked to the massive wine cabinet in the center of the living room, looked back, and smiled with enchanting grace.

Lin Chao’s gaze met hers openly, without the slightest flinch.

The corners of his mouth curled up, and his voice carried a perfect amount of respect and casualness.

“I’ll drink whatever Sister Yanran wants to treat me to.”

This answer pleased Lan Yanran very much.

She turned around, opened a glass cabinet door, and her slender fingers slid slowly over rows of expensive wine collections.

Finally, she took down a bottle of whisky.

“Pop.”

The crystal stopper was pulled out, making a crisp, muffled sound.

The amber liquid was slowly poured into two crystal glasses carved with intricate patterns.

She added ice spheres. As the liquid swirled, the ice clinked against the glass walls, making a pleasant tinkling sound that was exceptionally clear in the silent night.
