How am I Being a Gigolo When I'm Doing Door-to-door Sales?

109: A dead pig is not afraid of boiling waterAnother colleague couldn’t watch any longer and warned him in a low voice, ”Lin Guodong, do you really have a death wish?”

”How dare you badmouth Supervisor Lin behind his back like that!”

At this moment, Lin Guodong was so immersed in the joy of his ”brilliant achievement” that he couldn’t listen to any advice.

He stiffened his neck, adopting the posture of a dead pig that didn’t fear scalding water.

”So what if I talk about him?”

”Can a supervisor just be lawless? Can a supervisor just openly skip work?”

Before he could finish his sentence, the entire office area suddenly fell into a deathly silence.

It felt as if someone had suddenly pressed the pause button on a fast-forwarding movie.

All the noisy chatter vanished in an instant.

Everyone’s movements froze at that very moment.

Eyes filled with terror in an instant, and everyone looked in unison behind Lin Guodong.

Only Lin Guodong remained completely oblivious.

He even thought his domineering aura had intimidated the whole room, and the smug expression on his face grew even more intense.

He cleared his throat, preparing to continue his long-winded speech.

However, a cold, almost tangible chill climbed from his spine all the way to the back of his head without any warning.

His back... felt a bit cold.

Lin Guodong’s expression froze, his throat feeling as if it were being choked by an invisible hand, and he couldn’t utter another word.

His neck, like a set of rusty gears, made a ”creak-creak” sound as it turned back inch by inch with great difficulty.

Then, he saw a face.

A face with a faint smile.

That smile, however, was more bone-chilling than a Siberian wind.

Lin Guodong’s pupils instantly shrank to the size of pinpoints!

”Su... Su... Supervisor Lin...”

His blood seemed to freeze completely at that moment, and his lips trembled, making him unable to form a complete sentence.

”You... you’re here?”

The smile on Lin Chao’s face deepened by another notch.

He looked down at Lin Guodong’s face, which had instantly turned as pale as paper; there was no anger or mockery in his eyes, only a bottomless calm.

That calm was more terrifying than any storm.

His thin lips parted slightly, and his voice wasn’t loud, but it struck everyone’s heart like a heavy hammer.

”Are you finished?”

Lin Guodong’s mind instantly went blank.

That arrogant air he had just been flaunting was instantly extinguished, as if a bucket of ice water had been poured over him from head to toe!

However, after the extreme fear, what surged up was the madness of someone who had nothing left to lose!

He stiffened his neck and roared back with false bravado, ”I... I’m not wrong!”

”This morning, you definitely skipped work!”

He was going all out!

Since they had already fallen out anyway, he might as well make a huge scene in front of everyone!

Hearing this, the slight smile on Lin Chao’s face didn’t change in the slightest.

He just spoke indifferently, as if stating a fact, ”I went to see a client.”

”See a client?”

Those three words seemed like a huge joke, and Lin Guodong suddenly burst out laughing in mockery!

In his mind, the image of following Lin Chao yesterday and seeing him enter the high-end ”Qinglan Garden” flashed!

An entire afternoon!

This kid stayed inside the whole time and didn’t come out!

Heaven knows what kind of shady business he was doing with that client inside!

Maybe he was just selling his body!

Although Lin Chao did close a deal yesterday, that kind of deal must have been exchanged for with his body!

What about today? Had he used the same old trick again?

Lin Guodong’s eyes were full of disdain and certainty as he launched a direct provocation in a shrill voice.

”Then did Supervisor Lin close a deal today?” His voice was full of undisguised schadenfreude. ”It couldn’t be that you met a client but failed to reach an agreement, right?”

Lin Chao’s gaze finally shifted from calm to a hint of playfulness.

As if watching a monkey jumping around, he asked back with interest, ”You care so much about my performance?”

”What, did you close several more deals this morning?”

”I...” Lin Guodong’s face instantly turned the color of pig liver, and a breath was stuck in his throat, almost not coming up!

This morning, let alone closing a deal, he hadn’t even managed to get through to a single potential client!

But he would never admit defeat verbally!

He forced a change of subject, adopting a ”the weak are always right” posture.

”You’re the supervisor! How can I compare to you!”

Lin Chao nodded and actually agreed quite seriously, ”That’s true.”

He paused and added the second half, ”After all, my base salary is much higher than yours.”

”Pfft—”

Lin Guodong felt as if his heart had been stabbed hard!

The insult in this sentence was a hundred times stronger than calling him useless directly!

His face instantly turned from red to black, like the charcoal at the bottom of a pot!

A surge of anger rushed to his head; he completely lost his reason and started speaking with reckless sarcasm.

”Who knows if you really went to see a client!”

”The company doesn’t have a rule saying that if you say you’re seeing a client, you’re actually seeing a client!”

Lin Chao seemed ”inspired” by Lin Guodong’s words and nodded thoughtfully, ”Based on what you’re saying, are you suggesting the company equip every outgoing employee with a Body Camera in the future?”

He looked around, his voice not loud but clearly reaching every colleague’s ears, ”That way, we can clearly see who is really meeting clients and who is out slacking off.”

As soon as the words left his mouth!

Swish—!

In an instant, over a dozen angry glares in the office were fixed on Lin Guodong like sharp swords!

This bastard! He doesn’t close deals himself and wants to drag everyone else down with him!

If they really were equipped with Body Cameras, who would dare to handle personal matters or slack off while meeting clients in the future?

Lin Guodong instantly became the public enemy of Market Department Two!

Lin Chao looked at his panicked face, the curve of his lips growing colder.

He took a step forward, and the invisible pressure made Lin Guodong instinctively shrink back.

”Judging others by one’s own standards is a good phrase,” Lin Chao’s voice sounded faintly, as if talking to himself or pronouncing judgment on everyone. ”You think I didn’t go to see a client today, could it be...”

He intentionally drew out his tone, ”...that’s how you usually do things, isn’t it?”

Without waiting for Lin Guodong to retort, Lin Chao turned directly to their Team Leader.

”Team Leader Zhang.”

The middle-aged man who was called out shuddered and quickly stood up.

”Supervisor Lin.”

Lin Chao’s tone remained flat, ”During Lin Guodong’s usual working hours, does he go out often under the guise of meeting clients?”

Team Leader Zhang’s face stiffened, and a layer of cold sweat instantly broke out on his forehead.

He glanced at the deathly pale Lin Guodong, then met Lin Chao’s unquestionable gaze, and finally gritted his teeth and nodded with difficulty.

”It’s... it’s quite a lot.”

”Oh?” Lin Chao drew out the sound, slowly turning his head, his gaze like a knife as it fell back onto Lin Guodong.
