Reborn in the Eighties as a Housewife with a Space

Chapter 2027: Chapter 2021: Playing Porter

”You’re too modest, ma’am. I’m telling the truth. Ma’am, if there’s nothing else, I’ll take my leave. I still need to buy some other things, so I won’t bother you anymore.” Qin Xue didn’t know what else to say to Liu Fen, so she had to bid farewell.

”Alright, take care of yourself. Go on with your errands, don’t worry about this old lady.” Liu Fen had no choice but to accept her age; others her age already have grandchildren, but her daughter-in-law hasn’t even shown up yet, still doesn’t know who’s raising her.

”Goodbye.” Qin Xue nodded, planning to buy ingredients to make steamed cake for her sons.

”Aunt, what are you looking at?” Qin Ying looked at Liu Fen as she was peering into the crowd.

”Yeah, mom, weren’t you buying groceries? What are you looking at?” Qin Lang followed his mother’s gaze. There was nothing special apart from the coming and going of people.

”Nothing, just ran into an acquaintance.” Liu Fen looked at her son and niece, speaking softly.

”Who did you see? You look so reluctant to part.” Ying had never seen her aunt with such an expression.

”The girl who saved your mother, just chatted a bit. Let’s go, we should buy groceries. Your dad and the others will come back for dinner today, so let’s buy the ingredients early to cook.” Today is the Qins’ monthly family gathering day. They agreed as long as the old man is around, both families would have dinner once a month. After he passes, it’s up to them, and today is the gathering day.

”Alright, it’s a pity mom hasn’t been discharged yet and can’t join us for the meal, but it’s okay. I’ll go to the hospital to take care of her after dinner.” Ying thought of Cao Rui, lonely in the hospital, worrying for her mother.

”You’ve worked hard, having to work while also taking care of the patient.” Liu Fen looked at her sensible niece, feeling for her.

”It’s my responsibility. I just regret that as a daughter, I didn’t protect my mother well enough, allowing her to get hurt. It’s my failure.” Ying said with some guilt. She had been too busy lately, leaving no time to be with her mother, otherwise she wouldn’t have been in an accident.

”It was an accident; who would’ve thought just a shopping trip would run into a thief? Fortunately, the thief was caught in the end; otherwise, who knows how many would suffer with him free?” Liu Fen hadn’t expected such a thing to happen. Luckily, her sister-in-law was fine, or she would have been very upset.

”Mom, you met Qin Xue. Did she come alone or with someone?” Qin Lang didn’t expect the acquaintance his mother mentioned would be Qin Xue.

”She came alone, why? Do you know her?” Liu Fen looked at her son with curiosity.

”Yes, I know her; she’s Chu Molin’s wife. How could I not know her?” Qin Lang hadn’t told his mom or others that Qin Xue was his second uncle’s daughter. Now that his mom asked, he just said he knew her through Chu Molin. When the truth couldn’t be hidden anymore, he would explain. Besides, he has two big figures to back him, so what’s there to fear?

”I see.” Liu Fen always thought her son didn’t know Qin Xue was part of the Chus. Hearing him ask now, she found it strange, but understanding dawned on her.

”Yes, mom, let’s go buy groceries. Didn’t you call me out today to be a laborer? So buy whatever you want, leave carrying things to me.” Qin Lang came back on vacation, not expecting to be dragged out early to the market by his mom. Sadly, he couldn’t complain, resigned to be the porter.

”Alright, let’s go.” Liu Fen laughed. Her son’s words were indeed woeful. She just wanted to spend more time with him, just shopping, not truly making him a laborer.
