Reborn in the Eighties as a Housewife with a Space

Chapter 1969: Chapter 1963: Turns Out She Also Prefers Sons Over Daughters

”Mom, are you serious? Do you really think that way?” An Hao looked at Chen Lei in disbelief. Could it be that all the kindness shown to her over the years was fake? To deny her because of a son, what does she count as in the Li family, just a tool for childbirth?

An Hao asked several questions in a row, but each one was something she didn’t want to face. She felt her heart truly cold and aching at that moment.

”Of course, when have I ever lied? If you’re unwilling, then let someone else do it. You can’t hold the position if you refuse to. Look, I’m pretty good to you, but I never thought of you as my daughter-in-law. I originally had someone in mind, but later I was told that my son liked the girl from the An family, so I opposed it.”

What was so good about the An family girl? Her parents didn’t care for her since childhood and left her with the Xiaos. She’s been brought up by the Xiaos, and though they treated her well, she’s not one of the Xiaos. She’s still surnamed An, but my son liked her, so I had no choice but to respect his wish. Who would have thought, An Hao’s belly was not cooperative and bore a girl.

Fine, I’ll accept a girl for the first child, but how could I have expected new policies now? Considering this, I won’t agree anymore. I just wanted them to have another child, but they absolutely refused. No one would accept that, right?

So, I had to ask her to step aside. She doesn’t want to, but plenty of people would. My son Zhaozi has money and everything a person needs. How could An Hao take advantage of him? So, after hearing Ou Keren’s words, I felt she was absolutely right.

So now, looking at An Hao, all I feel is resentment.

”Mom, you’re asking me to divorce Zhaozi because of this. Do you think it’s right?” An Hao never expected that her mother-in-law would say such words, leaving her in shock for a long while.

Even Ou Keren didn’t expect such a twist, totally caught off guard.

”It’s you who are unwilling, and don’t think I’m cold-hearted. If the Li family ends without descendants, how would I face the ancestors of the Li family after I pass away?” Chen Lei, originally feeling a tinge of guilt seeing An Hao like that, felt more justified as she spoke.

”What if I don’t divorce Zhaozi?” An Hao asked with a hint of hope, but the next words shattered all her hopes.

”If you aren’t giving birth or getting a divorce, then you can just wait for my death.” Chen Lei had always had a strong say in the Li family, so no one dared to contradict her.

”What does Zhaozi think?” An Hao just wanted to know what her husband thought.

”I will persuade him myself. You just need to decide whether you want to give birth or get a divorce.” Chen Lei pressured An Hao right in front of Ou Keren.

”I just want to hear Zhaozi’s decision. If he wants a son and is willing to divorce me, I will respect his decision.” An Hao was already somewhat exhausted by now. She always thought her mother-in-law was open-minded, but it turned out she also preferred sons to daughters. With things said to this extent, what else could she say?

After this, An Hao packed her things and took the child back to the Xia family. She didn’t know what Li Zhao would hear from his mother when he returned home. It was only days later that she saw Li Zhao, but she saw him and Ou Keren both fall to the ground. Seeing this scene, An Hao felt her heart die. She had lost.
