Reborn in the Eighties as a Housewife with a Space

Chapter 1949: Chapter 1943: Going Through Adoption Procedures

After Qin Xue finished eating, she went to handle the paperwork for Cohen. She carried her bag and household registration book, along with any other documents she might need, and headed to the bureau.

”Hello, could you please tell me where the adoption paperwork window is?” Upon entering, Qin Xue saw that everyone was busy, so she had no choice but to ask a staff member on the side.

”Over there.” The staff member glanced at who was asking and then pointed in a direction.

”Thank you.” Qin Xue expressed her gratitude and headed towards the indicated place.

”Hello, I’m here to process adoption paperwork.” Qin Xue entered an office and saw some familiar faces.

”It’s you. You’re here to adopt? Is it the child living with your family?” Wu Jie remembered Qin Xue, mainly because the couple had acted faster than them that night. By the time they arrived, the situation was under control, leaving no chance for anyone to escape, making it hard not to have an impression of such standout individuals.

”Yes, we’ve been waiting for his family to come, but they never did, and there’s been no news from your side either. So my husband and I thought of adopting him and giving him a household registration. He’s growing every day, and he’ll need it for school, after all.” Qin Xue explained her reasons for adopting, primarily because she found Cohen too pitiful and wanted to give him a home.

”That makes sense. So, have you both agreed on this?” Wu Jie asked Qin Xue.

”Yes, this is the agreement with the child, this is the household registration book, and here is proof of our work units. We have the capability to raise him well.” Qin Xue took out all the documents and agreements she had brought and placed them in front of Wu Jie and the others one by one.

”Since you’re both willing, we have nothing to say. But if his family comes looking for him in the future, this...” Wu Jie also knew that the child couldn’t be taken care of by others without conditions indefinitely.

It’s true that the child’s family hadn’t come looking for him, and what they could do was merely send him to some welfare organization. But in that case, they couldn’t guarantee what kind of life the child would have, and if his family never came for him, he would ultimately be adopted by someone else.

”We’ve thought about that too. No matter when, if his family comes and he wishes to return with them, we definitely won’t stop him. Everything respects the child’s own wishes.” Qin Xue was also aware that what they were doing now was out of necessity.

Cohen is still young and wouldn’t consider much now, but when he grows up and remembers where his home is and wants to return, they wouldn’t stop him.

”Good, it’s great that you’ve thought this through. I’ll handle it for you then. I just worry if his family comes looking, it might cause you trouble.” Wu Jie worried that if the child’s family came later and neither side wanted to let go, the one who would get hurt most would be the child.

Upon hearing Qin Xue’s words, he understood that their decision was maturely thought out, so there was no need to oppose it. After all, they, as staff, couldn’t take the child home to raise themselves. Their salaries weren’t high, and they had their own children and families to support; adding another child would be quite a burden. Therefore, seeing them willing to adopt, they were naturally very pleased.

Moreover, Wu Jie could tell that Qin Xue and her family were good people. After all, ever since the child first met them, he instinctively followed them. That’s why Wu Jie allowed him to go with them, and now this outcome was something everyone was happy to see.

As a result, Wu Jie and the others quickly processed the paperwork for Qin Xue. Qin Xue looked at the household registration book, seeing the full name Chu Yichen, formerly known as Cohen, in one column. She finally felt relieved, as a major issue was settled.
