Reborn in the Eighties as a Housewife with a Space

Chapter 1378: Chapter 1372: Fish Mint Root_1 Chapter 1378: Chapter 1372: Fish Mint Root_1 It went without saying that Qin Xue didn’t have to worry about pleasing some while ignoring others.

“Oh, Ms. Chu, you’re here for grocery shopping! What kind of vegetables do you need today? They’re freshly picked.” The last time Chu Xiaoqiao had asked the shopkeeper to deliver vegetables to their restaurant. So, whenever the shopkeeper saw Chu Xiaoqiao, she would enthusiastically greet her.

“Today, I’m here with my sister-in-law, not to pick vegetables for the restaurant. Your veggies are indeed good, I can rely on you.” Chu Xiaoqiao was confident in her work and it saved her a lot of worry. Wu Tianci also said that her prices hadn’t risen much, remaining quite stable.

“Well, you can choose whatever you want.” After hearing what Chu Xiaoqiao said, the shopkeeper’s enthusiasm didn’t change. Her smooth talk was very comforting.

Qin Xue took a look at the shopkeeper. She was a good businesswoman. No wonder her stand was doing better than others. To be able to talk smoothly was indeed an art.

Qin Xue silently approved in her heart. It seemed that they could interact more with this shop in the future. It didn’t matter if a good person charged a little more.

Qin Xue picked out the veggies she wanted to eat and weighed each one, thinking about what else to buy before going home.

“Sister-in-law, I noticed that there are some fresh fish being sold over there. Could we buy one to take home? My brother loves your Suan Cai Yu (Fish with Pickled Cabbage). Could you cook him some?” Chu Xiaoqiao had spotted the fresh fish and called Qin Xue.

Chu Xiaoqiao also wanted to eat Suan Cai Yu. She found the spicy and sour taste really appetizing and particularly good with rice.

“Okay, you go and buy one, choose whatever size you want, but make sure it can be finished all at once. It wouldn’t taste good reheated.” Qin Xue didn’t mind. However, leftover fish wouldn’t taste good if reheated for the next meal.

“I got it.” Chu Xiaoqiao also realized it. There were other dishes to make, so if they bought a big fish, it might not be finished. She chose one that was about 1.5 kg, large enough for all of them to enjoy, especially her elder brother, who had a special preference for fish. Even if nobody else ate, he alone could have a lot.

“Hey, boss, what’s this kind of vegetable?” An Hao asked the shopkeeper, there were many vegetables she had never seen before.

“That’s fish mint. It’s very fragrant when made into a cold salad, excellent with rice.” The shopkeeper looked at the vegetable that An Hao was pointing at and smiled.

When Qin Xue heard there was fish mint, she also looked over here, then squatted down to choose. This fish mint is also known as the chameleon plant. It’s a good thing, the whole plant can be used as medicine and also for cooking. Most people eat it cold because it has antibacterial and antivirus effects. If one catches a cold, dried fish mint can be used for boiling water and drunk as tea.

The way to eat fish mint is simple. After picking the tender buds and washing them clean, mince ginger, garlic, spring onions, coriander, chili, then add salt, soy sauce, seasoning, vinegar, and sesame oil on top. Pour the hot oil on these seasonings, then stir evenly. That is how you eat it. If the root is too old, it will not be picked for eating, but instead dried and used as medicine at home.

Of course, although fish mint is delicious, it has a unique fishy smell, and many people find this smell unfamiliar. However, once used to it, its taste is very addictive and it’ll be impossible to stop eating. Qin Xue loved this dish.

Since it was available today, she might as well buy some to go home. Cooking it up for everyone to taste, she didn’t know if they would get used to it, but she still wanted them to try it.
