Chapter 1369: Chapter 1363 Discussing Going to Village_1 Chapter 1369: Chapter 1363 Discussing Going to Village_1 “Miss, are you going out?” The man who was just here saw Qin Xue and Qing Teng coming out, and asked Qing Teng.

“Mm, tell the elders that I have found the Holy Maiden, as well as her descendants. We will return as soon as possible.” Qing Teng commanded.

“Miss, is it true? That’s great.” The man’s serious face didn’t match his excited tone.

“Mm, go. I need to go out with Miss Qin for a bit. I will let you know when we’ve set a time.” Qing Teng didn’t reveal Qin Xue’s identity. Some things were not yet appropriate to disclose.

“Alright, Miss, please be careful.” The man stepped aside, reminding Qing Teng.

“Mm, go and get to work.” Qing Teng nodded.

“This man really listens to you.” Qin Xue glanced at the obedient man, who didn’t resemble his earlier self at all.

“That’s the rule where I come from; he dares not disobey my orders.” said Qing Teng. Despite having left the village many years ago, her status was recognized. Who would dare not to obey?

“It seems you hold a high rank in your village.” Upon hearing about ‘rules,’ Qin Xue understood that it must be an ancient place. A location referred to as a ‘clan’ could not be very modern, it was certain to preserve old customs and traditions.

“It’s alright.” Qing Teng was the guardian of the Holy Maiden. Aside from the Holy Maiden, it was her, then the elders. Any insubordination was an act of rebellion, punishable by extreme torture.

It was a lineage passed down generation by generation, from her grandmother to her mother, and then to her. Once she reached a certain age, she would marry and bear the next guardian. And then her life would come to an end.

She didn’t know how long this lineage had existed, but she had known about it since her childhood. She was considered late in marrying, having not yet borne a successor at the age of twenty. She was unsure if she would be forced to conceive a child with a man once she returned with the Holy Maiden.

The man was here to inform her that no matter whether she had found the Holy Maiden, she must return to the village by the end of the year to marry and bear a child. If her life ended before she had a successor, the line of the Holy Maiden’s guardians would be broken.

Qing Teng was wondering what to do. She couldn’t bring herself to marry and have a child with a man she didn’t love. She even thought about conceiving a child with a man she found tolerable without falling in love, so she wouldn’t get hurt when he died.

Though it was a terrifying and cruel idea, she had no other choice. She loved An Xiaofeng, she couldn’t bear to see him hurt. Yet, she could not disobey the duty she was bestowed. Hence, she had to find another way.

For Qing Teng, the only solution was to conceive a child by borrowing a seed so that she wouldn’t be affected even if the man died.

Qin Xue was unaware of Qing Teng’s thoughts, otherwise, she would never agree to her plan. After all, other people’s lives also mattered; how could she do such a thing for her personal reasons?

Qin Xue also didn’t know about such a tradition in their village. It was unfair to many, and in particular, to people like Qing Teng.

Qin Xue only had two sons herself. If she were truly the Holy Maiden, would she have to bear another child? That wouldn’t be good for her. She also didn’t like being forced to do things she didn’t want to do.
