A God-tier Counter-damage Priest, I am the Master!

9: The Assassin Vantis’s Sneak AttackRegarding Bai Tian’s refusal of her proactive offer of help, Jade Star Painting Moon gave a faint, non-committal twitch of her sexy red lips.

As one of the executives of Reaching the Pinnacle, she had her own poise and pride; she naturally wouldn’t go too far out of her way to curry favor, as that would be beneath her.

Furthermore, after seeing with her own eyes that Brilliant, the one who took the First Kill on the BOSS, was merely a Priest, he had actually lost points in her estimation.

—

Because of the reminders from Glorious World and Jade Star Painting Moon, Bai Tian had been secretly keeping an eye out since leaving the novice village.

But until he reached the forest teeming with Jungle Blood Leopards, nothing unexpected had happened.

Could it be that the assassin Vantis saw his level was too high and gave up?

Bai Tian didn’t think too much about it; from time to time, Jungle Blood Leopards would pounce out from the surroundings to attack him.

Now at Level 8, Bai Tian naturally found facing these Level 7 Jungle Blood Leopards to be effortless.

However, Bai Tian also discovered one thing: the Rebound talent did not increase his leveling progress when killing monsters lower than his own level.

Since the experience given by a Jungle Blood Leopard was now too low, Bai Tian had even less interest in them.

Just as Bai Tian prepared to speed up and force his way through this patch of forest...

Suddenly, three Jungle Blood Leopards appeared from three different directions, pouncing in a coordinated encirclement.

Bai Tian felt a slight sense of doubt about this.

He remembered that there was only one Jungle Blood Leopard every 50 meters, and they basically acted alone.

But he was fearless. Bai Tian waved his hand in a basic attack, hitting the Jungle Blood Leopard charging from the front.

Damage: -290!

Bai Tian currently possessed a Magic Attack as high as 340 points; his output was not low at all.

— ”(Ding-dong!)”

”(You have maliciously attacked player Vantis’s controlled creature; the opponent has gained the right to a legitimate counterattack.)”

”(If you are counter-killed, the penalty will be doubled.)”

Upon suddenly hearing this notification, Bai Tian was momentarily stunned.

In the next moment, a yellow-haired man with triangular eyes suddenly appeared behind Bai Tian, a sinister smile hanging on his face.

He thrust out a Stealth-Breaking Kill at Bai Tian.

”Pah, what ’Big Shot Brilliant’? Just a piece of trash fishing for fame.”

”In front of me, you’re just a big fat sheep.”

While Vantis was sneering inwardly and preparing to finish Bai Tian off with a combo, his vision suddenly went black.

Critical Damage: -488!

20x Rebound: -9760!

Vantis, who had only managed a single sneak attack stab at Bai Tian’s back, was instantly killed by the Rebound on the spot. His health bar cleared to zero, and he collapsed where he stood with a bewildered look on his face, even dropping his black-glow weapon.

Once Vantis died, the three Jungle Blood Leopards that were originally charging at Bai Tian immediately stopped in their tracks, their eyes looking somewhat dazed.

Vantis possessed a B-rank talent—Beast Mastery—which allowed him to briefly control wild monsters no more than two levels above him for his own use.

Relying on this startling talent, he had been solo grinding and had already reached Level 7.

No, he should be Level 6 now; he dropped a level after being killed by Bai Tian’s Rebound.

Bai Tian cast a Healing Spell on himself, then turned to look at Vantis’s corpse.

He had to admit, this guy was quite insidious.

He had likely been following him in the shadows ever since he left the novice village.

Seeing that the timing was right just now, he launched a sudden surprise attack.

A single critical hit could take off 488 of his health; this guy’s damage was very fierce!

At the current stage, he estimated that besides a few high-level Tanks with full Constitution builds, he was the only one in the entire Novice Island who could survive a single stab from him.

The opponent could even control wild monsters for his own use; this talent was quite interesting.

In fact, after receiving the reminder from Glorious World and the other, Bai Tian had already converted 1000 points of Mana into Vitality.

It was no exaggeration to say that his current Vitality would make even a Tank’s eyes pop out of their head.

Bai Tian picked up the black-glow dagger Vantis had dropped to inspect it.

— Cold Iron Short Blade!

(Leather Armor Class Weapon)

Quality: Black

Attack: +66

Agility: +2

Durability: 37/50

Requirement: Assassin-type classes.

Not bad!

For the current stage, it was absolutely a top-tier novice assassin weapon.

No wonder that insidious guy’s attack power was so high.

Bai Tian happily put away the Cold Iron Short Blade and simultaneously finished off the three Jungle Blood Leopards that had lost their control.

Just as he was wondering how much this assassin weapon could sell for...

In the chat channel, Vantis, who had died and returned to the novice village, was frantically @-ing him.

Vantis was notorious; only a day after the server opened, he had already hunted down many players in this Novice Island who had dropped equipment, killing them to steal their goods.

When such a universally hated guy kept @-ing Brilliant, countless observant people immediately guessed what had happened.

”Hahaha... Vantis, you dog, why do you keep @-ing Big Shot Brilliant? Did you get wrecked by the big shot?”

”Brothers! Good news! I saw that bastard Vantis walking out of the respawn point, and he even dropped a level.”

”As expected, justice may be late, but it never fails to arrive. How heart-warming!”

”Vantis, you stinking rat, you finally have your day.”

”...”

It had to be said that Vantis’s reputation was indeed rotten to the core; he was like a street rat that everyone wanted to hit.

Being cursed by name by so many people, Vantis immediately flew into a rage: ”Motherf*ckers! Jinghong Qi, Dashuikeng, you two bastards are shouting pretty loud, aren’t you? I’ll be targeting you two from now on!”

The two guys who had cursed him the loudest were instantly marked by Vantis’s resentment.

Jinghong Qi and Dashuikeng were not to be outdone: ”Come rain or shine, your grandfathers will be waiting for you.”

Upon learning that Vantis had been counter-killed by Bai Tian and sent back to town, both Glorious World and Jade Star Painting Moon were slightly startled.

Vantis’s character wasn’t great, but his strength was beyond doubt.

Brilliant was a Priest, and an Assassin was practically his natural counter, yet he was still able to slaughter Vantis.

This immediately made the two of them very curious about what kind of top-tier talent Brilliant had actually obtained.

When Bai Tian saw Vantis’s exasperation, he felt quite amused and also understood the reason why the guy was so anxious to @ him.

After thinking for a moment, Bai Tian took the initiative to send a friend request to Vantis.

This guy must have tried to add him many times, but Bai Tian had long ago set his settings to refuse friend requests, which was why he had been @-ing him in the chat area.

It was accepted almost instantly.

After adding him, Vantis, with a dark face, quickly sent a voice message.

”Give me back my weapon, and I promise I’ll never provoke you again.”

Hearing this, Bai Tian immediately laughed: ”You really do have a sense of humor!”

”Do you think that’s possible?”

Speaking of which, Vantis was also unlucky; when he died, he just happened to drop his most important piece of equipment.

If any other piece of equipment on his body had dropped, he wouldn’t be this anxious.
