A God-tier Counter-damage Priest, I am the Master!

8: overtures from the two major guildsBai Tian slept very soundly this time, not waking up until three in the afternoon.

He didn’t know if his Close Friend had rested at all, but the guy was already online; he was really pushing himself.

When he saw the 500 yuan transferred to him by his Close Friend on WX, Bai Tian grinned.

It wasn’t about the amount of money, but the gesture from his Close Friend made Bai Tian’s heart feel a slight warmth.

After washing up and taking care of personal hygiene, and finishing off a steaming bowl of instant noodles, Bai Tian quickly logged on.

Having slept for so long, he was somewhat worried that his level would be surpassed by others.

— ”(Ding-dong!)”

”(Welcome back to [Vast Heaven], we wish you a pleasant game!)”

The location where he logged on was still inside the Abyss Valley where the Level 9 Elite White Wolves were located.

This was considered a dangerous leveling area within Novice Island. Even though Bai Tian had slept for over 6 hours, no other players had appeared here yet.

But because of this, as soon as Bai Tian logged on, he appeared right in the middle of a Refreshed wolf pack.

”Awoo!”

At least thirty-odd White Wolves locked onto Bai Tian, each with glowing green eyes and protruding fangs.

Holy crap!

Bai Tian let out a strange cry and decisively converted 1,500 mana points into vitality, bringing his total health to 1,830.

Then he ran towards two man-sized rocks behind him.

The thirty-odd White Wolves swarmed forward. If he were surrounded by them, Bai Tian would be at risk of being finished off completely.

Although Bai Tian was already Level 8, he had put all his points into Intelligence. While his magic attack was high, his agility and speed were not as good as the White Wolves’.

Soon, a pain shot through his back as he was bitten several times.

Damage: -206, -207, -208, Critical -416!

He lost 1,037 health on the spot.

But the 20x Rebound effect also killed all four White Wolves that had bitten Bai Tian.

Bai Tian dove into the gap between the two rocks and then cast a Healing Spell on himself. Health recovered: +400!

By taking advantage of the terrain, at most only one White Wolf could attack him at any given time.

A minute later, Bai Tian had only 214 health left and was out of mana, but he had finally killed all the White Wolves.

That was close!

If it weren’t for those two big rocks nearby, he would have definitely died under the wolves’ fangs.

Of course, it was mainly because he had run out of low-level mana potions, otherwise he wouldn’t have been in such a pathetic state.

Although the fufeng long robe was socketed with a [level 1 magic gem], the recovery rate of 1 mana point per second was simply not enough.

Now that Bai Tian was Level 8, the experience he gained from killing a Level 9 Elite White Wolf had become 86 points, which was much less.

Oh!

Something dropped.

While Bai Tian was pushing aside a wolf corpse to pick up copper coins, he pulled out an exquisite white necklace.

— [Wolf Fang Necklace]!

Quality: Black

Attack: +10

(Strength, Stamina, Intelligence, Agility): +2

Durability: 50/50

Usage Requirement: Universal for all classes.

Sweet!

In [Vast Heaven], jewelry is divided into necklaces and left/right rings, all of which are universal equipment for all classes.

Furthermore, players from the closed beta had leaked that weapons and jewelry were the hardest equipment to get as drops.

His luck today was pretty good!

He had just logged on and already a rare necklace had dropped.

Bai Tian put on the [Wolf Fang Necklace] on the spot, and his attributes immediately rose by a small margin.

”Haha...”

Bai Tian suddenly laughed out loud in excitement.

Because under another wolf corpse, a Town Portal Scroll had actually dropped.

This was exactly what Bai Tian needed most right now; his free return skill was still on cooldown.

With this good item, he could return to town immediately.

After cleaning up, Bai Tian immediately used the Town Portal Scroll to return to the Novice Village.

—

”Level 5 Mage with a C-rank talent leading a team, just need one fair-skinned and beautiful Female Priestess to start grinding.”

”Integrity Studio offering paid power-leveling, 100 yuan per hour, stable and efficient grinding of Level 5 Boars, get on board quickly.”

”Stable team looking for a permanent Priest, requires at least 12 hours online daily, cute girls with long legs and big chests prioritized.”

”...”

As soon as Bai Tian returned to town, his ears were filled with shouts and cries as countless players called out for teams.

The drop rate in [Vast Heaven] was outrageously low, resulting in most people in the Novice Village still wearing the free two-piece set provided by the system.

When Bai Tian returned to town dressed in his black-patterned fufeng long robe, he stood out like a crane among chickens, immediately attracting the attention of countless people.

“Holy crap! That’s—Brilliant!”

“Amazing! The great Brilliant is already Level 8. I’ve been grinding since the server opened and I’m only Level 5. How did he level up?”

“No way! The great Brilliant is actually a Priest?”

“Is the Priest class that fierce at leveling? He even took the First Kill on a BOSS?”

“...”

Bai Tian hadn’t hidden his ID. When people discovered he was Brilliant, it immediately caused a massive stir among the countless players in the Novice Village.

“Great Brilliant, add me as a friend.”

“Brilliant, let’s be CP.”

“Brilliant, paid power-leveling! Take me to level up, I’ll pay you 300 bucks an hour.”

“...”

Countless players scrambled to crowd around Bai Tian.

Holy crap!

Is this the celebrity effect?

Bai Tian had a bit of a headache. He quickly hid his ID like an ostrich burying its head in the sand and then rushed towards the Village Chief’s place.

Of course, it was a bit late to hide his ID now, and many people followed him like sticky plasters.

When Bai Tian arrived at the Village Chief’s courtyard, the originally expressionless old Village Chief suddenly had a change in expression.

“This aura?”

The white-bearded old Village Chief suddenly waved his large sleeve, and an invisible force spread out, actually pushing all the players in the courtyard out, except for Bai Tian.

Even the few players who were looking for the Village Chief to pick up daily minor tasks were blasted out.

“Damn! What the hell is the NPC Village Chief doing? I haven’t even turned in my quest yet.”

“What’s going on? We can’t enter the Village Chief’s courtyard anymore; there’s a barrier blocking it.”

“What’s the situation?”

“...”

The players who were suddenly blasted out were all dumbfounded.

“Everyone look, how come we were all blasted out, but there’s still one person standing in the Village Chief’s courtyard?”

Some people who had followed Bai Tian there shouted: “You don’t know jack, that’s the great Brilliant, can he be the same as us?”

“The great Brilliant probably triggered some hidden quest, right?”

“...”

The players outside the courtyard immediately burst into discussion.

At this moment, Bai Tian was also very surprised. He hadn’t expected his appearance would cause the Village Chief to blast all the other players out.

“Young adventurer, I perceive a familiar aura on your person. Have you brought something?”

The NPC Village Chief looked at Bai Tian with an excited face, just like a living person.

Bai Tian took out the quest scroll from his bag.

The old Village Chief’s eyes immediately shook: “The Hero’s Letter.”

After the old Village Chief snatched the quest scroll, his old eyes immediately turned red, and his expression showed grief.

“Sigh...”

The old Village Chief grieved: “Brother! I told you back then, we had already lost contact with the [Vast Heaven Realm] for hundreds of years and became a Lost Land.”

“But you wouldn’t listen to me and insisted on taking the ancestral [Hero’s Letter] to travel outside to find the [Vast Heaven Realm].”

“Now look, the [Vast Heaven Realm] hasn’t been found, and your soul has already dissipated...”

The old Village Chief cried as he spoke, making Bai Tian on the side feel very awkward.

He didn’t come here to listen to your stories; he just wanted to pick up the hidden quest!

The old Village Chief cried for a good while before wiping away his tears and then looking at Bai Tian.

“Young adventurer, thank you for bringing back my brother’s relic.”

— ”(Ding-dong!)”

”(You brought back the [Hero’s Letter], the Village Chief rewards you with Experience: +3000, Silver Coins: +2.)”

When he saw the old Village Chief preparing to walk into the house, Bai Tian was stunned.

No way!

No follow-up?

Bai Tian hurriedly called out: “Old Village Chief...”

But the old Village Chief didn’t pay him any mind and went into the house on his own.

Just as Bai Tian was speechless, the old Village Chief came back holding a dusty, old object.

“Young adventurer, that you could bring back my brother’s relic proves you are fated with him.”

“Back then, he went his own way, ignoring my advice, obsessively searching for the lost Vast Heaven Realm to go to a broader world.”

“Seeing his resolve was firm, I secretly forged an item for him, hoping it would assist him.”

“Unexpectedly, he left without saying goodbye, and the item I had half-forged was ultimately never delivered into his hands.”

Speaking, the old Village Chief looked at Bai Tian: “In you, I see the shadow of his youth.”

“If you can find my brother’s remains for me, I will give this thing to you, how about it?”

— ”(Ding-dong!)”

”(You have triggered a unique hidden quest: Find the remains of the Village Chief’s brother.)”

”(Quest Difficulty: D-rank.)”

”(Quest completion reward: one semi-finished weapon. Failure will result in a 1-level deduction. Do you accept?)”

A unique hidden quest?!

He’d be an idiot not to accept.

With his Rebound Talent, Bai Tian was confident that a mere D-rank difficulty quest was nothing, so he immediately chose to accept.

— ”(Ding-dong!)”

”(You have successfully accepted the quest. Time limit: 3 days to complete.)”

Seeing Bai Tian accept, the old Village Chief smiled gratefully: “Young adventurer, then everything is in your hands.”

With that, he turned and walked back into the house.

He’s just leaving like that without giving any hints?

Bai Tian’s face was full of black lines.

The Hero’s Letter dropped from the Crocodile King BOSS; perhaps returning there would provide some clues.

Bai Tian thought to himself.

Once Bai Tian had finished accepting the quest, the barrier outside the Village Chief’s courtyard also dissipated.

But no large group of players crowded in to harass Bai Tian.

Instead, a man and a woman walked in together at the same time.

The man’s ID was Glorious World, and his level was as high as Level 6.

In his hand, he held a weapon with a cold, black light, emitting a soul-stirring aura.

His gaze was firm and sharp, as if it could see through everything.

And the weapon in his hand was exactly the one Bai Tian had sold—the sharp steel sword.

The other person was a woman with short, neat hair and features as if carved, full of heroic spirit.

Her ID was Jade Star Painting Moon, a Level 7 Archer.

Bai Tian had a bit of an impression of her. Last night at the Brown-Haired Wild Ox map, he had seen her exquisite maneuvers as she solo-farmed the Brown-Haired Wild Oxen.

“Brilliant!”

“I am Glorious World, a Hall Master of the [Brilliance Guild].”

Glorious World immediately stated his purpose: “I heard you picked up a hidden quest. If you can take me along, I can pay you a sum that will satisfy you.”

Jade Star Painting Moon was one of the managers of [Reaching the Pinnacle], and her purpose for coming here was much the same.

Jade Star Painting Moon said with a slight smile: “I came here with the same intention.”

These two were both managers of large guilds, and each possessed a certain aura.

It seemed the reason no one had come to harass him was likely due to these two.

Bai Tian didn’t hide it either; after all, it couldn’t be hidden, and they weren’t fools.

He said: “Sorry, my quest cannot be shared, there’s no way to take you along.”

Hearing Bai Tian say this, Glorious World and Jade Star Painting Moon were not annoyed either, lightly smiling.

“No matter, can we add each other as friends?”

“Perhaps when there’s an opportunity, we can level up together.”

The managers of two great guilds had personally come to visit and hadn’t acted overbearingly; it wouldn’t be good to not give them any face.

Furthermore, if Bai Tian obtained more equipment in the future that he couldn’t use, he might be able to sell it to them.

He immediately nodded and said: “Sure.”

After adding Glorious World and the other as friends, Bai Tian gave them a slight nod and prepared to leave.

But surprisingly, the two didn’t try to keep him at all.

After Bai Tian left, Glorious World spoke first: “Isn’t your [Reaching the Pinnacle] here to poach talent? You’re being quite patient.”

Jade Star Painting Moon said coldly: “You’re the same.”

Both being managers of major guilds, they each had their own depth and bearing.

Bai Tian was indeed a talent!

Both great guilds wanted to pull him into their respective guilds.

But they both knew that some things couldn’t be rushed.

—

At this time, Bai Tian had arrived at the pharmacy. He planned to buy enough potions and then head out to do his quest and level up, striving to leave Novice Island as soon as possible.

At this moment, two messages popped up in his friend list one after another.

Glorious World: “There’s an Assassin player on our Novice Island with terrible conduct called Vantis.”

“He participated in the closed beta and reportedly obtained a B-rank talent this time. He loves hunting down players who have good equipment. Be careful when you go out to level up; our people just saw him return to town.”

Jade Star Painting Moon: “Brilliant, a notorious fellow seems to have his eye on you. If you need, I can bring people to protect you and help you leave safely.”

Clearly, both of them were showing goodwill.

Vantis?!

An Assassin with a B-rank talent?

The corner of Bai Tian’s mouth curled up; he was no soft persimmon.

A notorious Assassin? I’d like to see what he’s capable of.

Bai Tian replied to Glorious World and Jade Star Painting Moon: “Thanks for the warning.”

After buying enough potions, Bai Tian strode out of the village without hesitation.
