The System Arrives: Leading My Clan to Become the Strongest

44: Chapter 44 Selecting Potential Clan MembersSoon, Jiang Chen withdrew his Divine Sense; he hadn’t found any Golden Core Realm Wild Beasts, though there were a few Foundation Establishment Realm ones.

Jiang Chen took to the air, heading straight for those few Foundation Establishment Realm Wild Beasts. Before long, they all collapsed to the ground, bleeding profusely.

Without any Wild Beasts above the Foundation Establishment Realm, this place was a perfect training ground for the War Hall Disciples.

After confirming there were no more Foundation Establishment Realm Wild Beasts, Jiang Chen soared into the air toward Qingyun Mountain.

Not long after, Jiang Chen returned to the Jiang Family.

”Grand Elder, come to the Main Hall.”

Jiang Chen sat in the seat of honor, sending a voice transmission as he waited for the Grand Elder’s arrival.

Shortly after, the Grand Elder arrived at the Main Hall.

”Clan Chief, you were looking for me?”

Jiang Xuanting looked at Jiang Chen as he walked over. He had been overwhelmed with work these past few days, yet this Clan Chief still summoned him from time to time to give various orders. He was only human, not a god.

At that thought, Jiang Xuanting looked at Jiang Chen with a resentful expression, making Jiang Chen feel a bit embarrassed.

It couldn’t be helped; the Second Elder was in seclusion for healing, and the Third and Fourth Elders were in seclusion for a Breakthrough. As for the Fifth Elder, Jiang Beiyuan—well, he should also be allowed to break through to Foundation Establishment early. Asking him to handle these trivial matters would be like playing a lute to a cow.

”Grand Elder, you know that all the other Elders are currently either in seclusion for healing or for Breakthroughs. Once they come out, some of these matters can be handed over to them. For now, please bear with it; those who are capable must work more, after all.”

Jiang Chen consoled him with a chuckle.

”Then I wonder what the Clan Chief wants me to do this time.”

Jiang Xuanting asked directly, not bothering with pleasantries. Business was more important right now.

”Well, I just wanted to ask if the resources suitable for the Clan Members to Cultivate have been distributed yet?”

Jiang Chen inquired. He primarily felt that the Clan Members’ cultivation progress was too slow, which was seriously dragging down his own progress.

”Not yet. I’ve been supervising the construction at the Market these past few days and haven’t had any time to manage that.”

The Grand Elder said somewhat helplessly.

”What about those Immortal Caves? How many people are using them now? And how is the construction of the Immortal Caves over at the Market going?”

Jiang Chen asked again.

”The ten Immortal Caves at the Market have all been excavated; only the connection to the Spiritual Vein remains. As for our Family’s Immortal Caves, only the Grand Elder, Second Elder, Third Elder, Fourth Elder, and that Ling Xuanye are using them, leaving five vacant.”

The Grand Elder said after a moment of thought.

”Starting today, Clan Members will go to the Immortal Caves in batches to Cultivate. I will go and open up the Spiritual Vein for the Market’s Immortal Caves. Once that’s done, arrange for Clan Members to Cultivate there as well. Also, all the cultivation resources I gave you must be distributed by tomorrow.”

Jiang Chen gave his orders directly.

”But Clan Chief, although the resources are sufficient, they aren’t enough when distributed among all the Clan Members. This...”

Hearing Jiang Chen’s command, the Grand Elder was a bit conflicted. All the Clan Members were like Family, though he wouldn’t mind giving his grandson more resources if there were enough. His grandson had already reached the fifth level of Qi Refining, while others his age had only just entered the fourth level.

To be at the fifth level of Qi Refining at eleven years old was not only because his grandson was talented but, more importantly, because he had sufficient resources.

But that was during the early stages. Now that the Family had stabilized, continuing this way would lead to criticism from the other Clan Members.

Hearing the Grand Elder’s words, Jiang Chen immediately realized the situation. Indeed, as the number of Clan Members increased in the future, resources would definitely need to be prioritized.

”How do you think they should be distributed?”

Jiang Chen asked. He personally didn’t care; as long as some Clan Members could break through quickly, it was all the same to him.

”I think we should establish a system. Otherwise, if Clan Members can receive resources from the Clan Chief without effort, what will those who have contributed to the Family think?”

The Grand Elder said in a low voice.

”Very well. The other three Elders should be coming out of seclusion in the next day or two. Discuss it among yourselves and come up with a protocol as soon as possible. For now, select ten potential Clan Members and prioritize giving them resources. Have them temporarily set aside their duties and go into seclusion in the Immortal Caves to break through.”

Jiang Chen thought for a moment and then instructed the Elder.

”This...”

The Grand Elder was a bit dazed. One moment he was told to wait for the other Elders to discuss a Family system, and the next he was told to select potential Clan Members for prioritized resources. He couldn’t understand why.

Seeing the Grand Elder’s confusion, Jiang Chen explained directly:

”The Yuan Kingdom is holding the Qingfeng Martial Meet in two months. Let those Clan Members go and try. If they succeed, it will make a name for our Qingyun Mountain Jiang Family. If not, then so be it.”

However, he thought that even if they didn’t succeed, he was still there. A Golden Core cultivator would be impossible to ignore even in the capital, and people might even come to build friendly relations.

”I understand, Clan Chief. I will go and make the arrangements now.”

Hearing Jiang Chen’s words, Jiang Xuanting understood the benefits. As for any voices of opposition, his prestige as the Grand Elder for so many years was enough to suppress them. As long as these people could make a name for themselves at the Qingfeng Martial Meet, none of this would matter.

The Grand Elder left the Main Hall. This time, he didn’t go straight to the Market but headed to the Clan Members’ gathering place.

Ten people—there were only about sixty Jiang Family Clansmen in total. Picking one out of six was quite generous. His grandson would definitely get a spot.

As for others with potential... at that thought, his mouth twitched.

Most of those currently in the clan were the old, weak, sick, or disabled. Those with potential had already been picked by Jiang Liejun for the War Hall. If his grandson hadn’t been so young, Jiang Liejun would have packed him off as well.

Jiang Chen didn’t care what Jiang Xuanting was thinking. He had already arrived at the Market and soon saw the ten Immortal Caves excavated on the cliff behind it.

The stone doors of the ten Immortal Caves were all open. Jiang Chen entered and began creating stone chamber channels to the Spiritual Vein in each one.

Fortunately, now that he was in the Golden Core Stage, he had enough power to connect the stone chambers above without damaging the Earth Vein.

Soon, surges of Spiritual Qi gushed out from the channels.

Jiang Chen walked out of the Immortal Caves and closed the stone doors tightly to prevent the Spiritual Qi from leaking out.

Standing before the Immortal Caves and looking down at the Market, he saw that the last two important buildings were nearly finished, with only the roofs left to be completed. He could still see the busy figures of Clan Members atop the buildings.

After watching for a while, Jiang Chen left. With their cultivation at the fifth or sixth level of Qi Refining, building the Qingyun Pavilion restaurant was child’s play for them.

The next day, at the Main Hall.

Not long after Jiang Chen arrived, the Grand Elder brought ten people to the Main Hall.

Jiang Chen had asked him to select ten potential Clan Members. Having finally finished the selection today, he naturally had to bring them for the Clan Chief’s confirmation.

”Clan Chief, these are the ten potential Clan Members I have selected. Please have a look.”

After saying this, the Grand Elder stepped aside slightly, revealing the ten figures behind him.

”Greetings, Clan Chief.”

The ten of them bowed in unison.

”Rise.”

Jiang Chen raised his left hand slightly, and everyone immediately felt as if a giant hand was lifting them up.

Jiang Chen looked at the ten people before him. Most of them were familiar—no, he knew all of them. Seven were actually War Hall Disciples, and the other three were children.

Among the seven from the War Hall, Jiang Dali was prominently present. Jiang Xuanting really had no other choice; how could one truly see ”potential”? He could only assume that the younger and more highly cultivated they were, the more potential they had.

As for Jiang Dali, he was the person with the highest Realm besides the Elders, already at the Peak of the eighth level of Qi Refining.

As for the children, the Grand Elder’s grandson, Jiang Feng, was among them, along with that Little Girl named Jiang Xueqin, who had actually broken through to the fifth level of Qi Refining.

The last one was a little boy dressed entirely in black with bright, dark eyes, though his cultivation was only at the fourth level of Qi Refining.
