The System Arrives: Leading My Clan to Become the Strongest

1: The Zhang family faces a crisis; they receive a pioneering order.”F*ck, web novels misled me—”

Yuan Kingdom.

Tianlin City.

The Jiang Family Main Hall.

Jiang Chen slumped in the Clan Chief’s throne, his eyes vacant as he stared at the ceiling.

In his previous life, he was just an office worker, a corporate drone working nine-to-five. Although he didn’t earn much, his life was quite comfortable.

An accident led to him being reborn in this world, becoming one of the Jiang Family Clansmen.

Although his parents in this life were just ordinary Mortals, he was lucky that his grandfather was the head of the Jiang Family and a powerful Cultivator at the Qi Refining Seventh Layer.

When he was tested and found to have Cultivation Aptitude, his grandfather took him in to personally train him.

His grandfather would bring him along to every Family meeting. Relying on his memories and knowledge from his previous life, he once proposed an insight during a meeting that was actually adopted.

Since then, his grandfather would ask for his opinion at every meeting, and the other Elders would look at him with expectation.

In this way, the Jiang Family slowly developed, earning nearly twice as many Spirit Stones as before.

Because of him, the Jiang Family acquired more and more resources, and its Clan Members achieved Breakthroughs in their Realms one after another.

His grandfather even used this momentum to achieve a Breakthrough to the Ninth Level of Qi Refining.

After his grandfather achieved a Breakthrough to the Ninth Level of Qi Refining, he passed the position of Family Head to Jiang Bingcheng, Jiang Chen’s uncle, and Jiang Chen was established as the Young Clan Chief.

However, just a few days ago, a major incident occurred in the Lin Family, one of the four Foundation Establishment Families of Tianlin City.

The Young Clan Chief, Lin Tian, had his engagement broken off.

Jiang Chen learned that Lin Tian’s fiancée was Zhongli Feiyan, the Young Miss of the Zhongli Family, one of the four Foundation Establishment Families. The reason for the broken engagement was that Zhongli Feiyan had entered the Tianxuan Sect, become a True Disciple, and even achieved a Breakthrough to the Foundation Establishment Realm.

Because of this, Zhongli Feiyan, now a True Disciple of the Tianxuan Sect, looked down on Lin Tian, who was only at the Qi Refining Seventh Layer, and went to the Lin Family to break off the engagement.

For a time, this news caused an uproar in Tianlin City, becoming known to everyone.

Initially, Jiang Chen didn’t care much; it was just a broken engagement. In his previous life, divorce was commonplace, let alone breaking off an engagement.

But then he heard that during the breakup, Lin Tian of the Lin Family had declared on that very day, “Thirty years east of the river, thirty years west of the river. Do not bully a young man into poverty.”

His intuition told him that he had encountered the Son of Destiny from the web novels of his previous life. His Jiang Family needed to cling to this great thigh and soar ninety thousand miles straight up along it.

Therefore, he immediately had his uncle, who was the Family Head, take most of the Jiang Family’s resources to the Lin Family, preparing to pledge allegiance to them.

Originally, his uncle and the assembled Elders disagreed. Anyone with sense knew that pledging allegiance to the Zhongli Family was the best choice in the current situation.

”Uncle, Elders, have I ever made a mistake in all these years? We must pledge allegiance to the Lin Family. Sending charcoal in the snow is far more precious and moving than adding flowers to the brocade.”

”You all know Lin Tian of the Lin Family. He achieved a Breakthrough to the Qi Refining Seventh Layer years ago. It’s just that for some unknown reason, he has remained stuck at the Qi Refining Seventh Layer without a Breakthrough. But I believe this person will eventually emerge like a Hidden Dragon from the abyss, and when that happens, our Jiang Family will also soar to the heavens.”

...Under Jiang Chen’s strenuous argument, everyone was convinced. This was mainly because Jiang Chen had never made a mistake before.

However, things did not proceed as Jiang Chen had expected. Just now, shortly after his uncle went to the Lin Family,

An aura belonging to a Golden Core True Person burst forth from the Zhongli Family, suppressing Tianlin City. A gigantic, heaven-supporting hand crushed down from the sky.

In an instant, the Lin Family was reduced to ashes, and the declaration of ’Do not bully a young man into poverty’ died in the womb before it even had a chance to warm up.

News just arrived that his uncle was reduced to ashes along with the Lin Family.

In an instant, all the Jiang Family Clansmen were stunned, especially Jiang Chen.

As the saying goes, a country cannot be without a sovereign for a single day, nor a Family without a master.

The Elders pushed the still-dazed Jiang Chen onto the main seat.

Truth be told, since Jiang Chen’s decision resulted in such a severe mistake, all the Elders should have stripped him of his Young Clan Chief position, let alone pushing him to become the Clan Chief.

But they thought of their descendants, who lacked any sophistication, some of whom had lower Cultivation bases than Jiang Chen. More importantly, Jiang Chen’s grandfather was at the Ninth Level of Qi Refining, the highest combat power of their Jiang Family.

”Clan Chief, how should we proceed from here?”

After a long silence, the Grand Elder, Jiang Xuanting, looked at Jiang Chen and asked.

At once, all the Elders turned to look at Jiang Chen.

Although Jiang Chen had made a mistake this time, even sacrificing the previous Family Head, they truly had no other choice now.

Given the Zhongli Family’s attitude, if they found out that the Jiang Family had intended to go to the Lin Family, the Jiang Family would follow the Lin Family’s fate.

”That’s right, Clan Chief, what should we do next?”

Seeing that Jiang Chen didn’t respond, the irritable Second Elder, Jiang Liejun, could hold back no longer and urgently asked again.

”Enough.”

An aged roar exploded in the hall.

Subsequently, a white-robed old man suddenly appeared in the center of the main hall.

”Greetings, Old Patriarch.”

”Greetings, Old Patriarch.”

...Seeing the newcomer, all the Elders bowed in salute.

The person who arrived was none other than the Old Patriarch of the Jiang Family, Jiang Chen’s grandfather, Jiang Suhai.

”Grandfather.”

Only then did Jiang Chen regain his senses. Looking at Jiang Suhai, he hurriedly rose and saluted.

”Alright. From now on, you are the Clan Leader of the Jiang Family. Every decision you make determines the future of the Jiang Family, so you must think three times before acting.”

Jiang Suhai said sternly while looking at Jiang Chen.

”But, Uncle died because of me...”

”No need to say this. Since it happened, we can only say it was his destiny.”

Jiang Chen was about to say that his uncle died because of him, but Jiang Suhai interrupted him.

As Cultivators, everyone understood one principle: no one knows whether tomorrow or an accident will arrive first.

Therefore, doing well in the present is enough.

Jiang Suhai felt that his grandson had been too smooth-sailing before. After this incident, he hoped he could grow up faster.

Although he was now at the Ninth Level of Qi Refining, he was only one step away from Foundation Establishment.

However, that final step was often like an insurmountable chasm.

With his Aptitude, without a foundation establishment pill, he could never hope to achieve a Breakthrough to Foundation Establishment. But foundation establishment pills were monopolized by the Sects.

Even the four great Families of Tianlin City often had to exhaust everything for a single foundation establishment pill, let alone a small Family like theirs.

”What we need to consider is what to do next. If the Zhongli Family doesn’t pursue the matter, then all is well. If they do pursue it, we will have to face the Zhongli Family by tomorrow at the latest, and the result is self-evident.”

Jiang Suhai said with a solemn tone.

Everyone fell silent immediately.

Yes, it would be great if the Zhongli Family didn’t pursue it, but was that possible? Would the person who wiped out the Lin Family with a single slap let them off?

The main point was that slap. Everyone knew that the Zhongli Family now had a Golden Core True Person, and that Immortal Master certainly wouldn’t mind casually wiping out a few Qi Refining Families.

”Then there is only one solution.”

Jiang Chen also said gravely in a deep voice.

”Are you saying...”

Looking at the solemn Jiang Chen, Jiang Suhai seemed to understand what Jiang Chen intended to do and could only confirm again.

Watching the two speaking in riddles, the Elders looked at each other in confusion.

”Exactly. Go to the City Lord’s Mansion and receive the land reclamation token.”

Jiang Chen stated firmly.

Looking at the resolute Jiang Chen, Jiang Suhai pondered for a moment and nodded. There was no other way; in the face of absolute power, this was the only solution.

”No!”

”Absolutely not!”

...However, at this moment, all the Elders voiced their opposition.

Are you kidding? Reclamation—how could land reclamation be so easy? If it were that simple, those Foundation Establishment Families and Golden Core Sects would have gone long ago. How could it be their turn, a Qi Refining Family?
