The System Arrives: Leading My Clan to Become the Strongest

12: Chapter 12 Alchemist Ling Xuanye”I can gather a maximum of one hundred thousand units.”

Shopkeeper Huang said helplessly.

”That will do. Help me prepare these one hundred thousand units first. Also, how much azure wood do you have?”

Jiang Chen thought for a moment. Most of the residences in the clan lands could be built with mysterious iron wood, but buildings like the main hall could use better Materials. The Jiang Family’s main hall couldn’t be too shabby.

”Understood. As for azure wood, there are still fifty thousand units.”

”Then pack up the azure wood as well.”

Jiang Chen said grandly.

”Very well. Please wait a moment, you two.”

Shopkeeper Huang walked toward the backyard, leaving only Jiang Chen and his grandfather in the shop for a moment.

”Chener, do we have enough Spirit Stones?”

At this moment, Jiang Suhai walked to Jiang Chen’s side and asked in a low voice.

He knew a bit about the Jiang Family’s assets; all together, they had at most 300,000 Low-Grade Spirit Stones. Now Jiang Chen was not only buying one hundred thousand units of mysterious iron wood but also fifty thousand units of azure wood, with another nine hundred thousand units of mysterious iron wood coming in a week.

This made him feel somewhat anxious and uneasy.

”Don’t worry, Grandfather. It will be fine. Trust your grandson.”

Seeing his grandfather’s worry, Jiang Chen comforted Jiang Suhai.

Seeing his grandson so full of confidence, Jiang Suhai finally let his heart settle.

His grandson had indeed changed a lot these past few days. Perhaps he had some secrets he didn’t know about, but it looked like there shouldn’t be any major issues.

Before long, Shopkeeper Huang came out and handed Jiang Chen a Storage Pouch.

”Inside are one hundred thousand units of mysterious iron wood and fifty thousand units of azure wood. Please check them; each has been sealed in this Storage Pouch using a compression formation.”

Jiang Chen’s Divine Sense entered the Storage Pouch. Seeing the spiritual Materials piled high inside, he felt relieved; the quantity was correct.

”Here are 350,000 Low-Grade Spirit Stones. Please count them carefully.”

Jiang Chen handed the other party a Storage Pouch after speaking.

Just moments ago, Jiang Chen had asked the System to exchange ten of his Top-Grade Spirit Stones for Low-Grade Spirit Stones, obtaining a total of 1 billion Low-Grade Spirit Stones.

Shopkeeper Huang took it and swept it with his Divine Sense. Not one stone more, not one stone less—it was exactly right.

”Very well. The remaining 900,000 units of mysterious iron wood will be gathered in one week.”

Shopkeeper Huang said with a smile.

”Then I’ll trouble Shopkeeper Huang. We will return in one week. Farewell.”

Having finished speaking, Jiang Chen and Jiang Suhai walked toward the door.

”I’ll see you out.”

Shopkeeper Huang said as he escorted the two out the main door.

Leaving the shop, the two did not linger and immediately departed from Tianfeng City.

Once outside Tianfeng City, the two rose into the air and flew toward the distance.

A short while after they left, a group of people hurriedly chased after them. However, seeing the empty landscape with no sign of anyone, they all looked at each other in bewilderment.

”They actually got away. We didn’t catch up.”

”Damn it, a big fish got away.”

”Jia the Third, are you sure you saw them trading with Shopkeeper Huang?”

A middle-aged man with a face full of stubble asked harshly. Judging by the aura radiating from his body, he was at the Peak of the Ninth Level of Qi Refining.

”I’m sure! I happened to see them trading when I passed by Shopkeeper Huang’s shop. They used Storage Pouches for the transaction. They’re definitely fat sheep. I came to report to you immediately.”

A man with a monkey-like face said flatteringly.

”Boss, should we still chase?”

A lackey inquired.

”Chase my foot! Do you even know which way to chase? Keep a close eye on the market. If these two appear again, report it immediately.”

The burly man finished speaking and walked back inside.

Seeing the man leave, everyone followed suit and disappeared at the city gate.

On the other side, Jiang Chen and his grandfather were flying at full speed. Before long, they passed the outer perimeter and headed deeper.

*Boom!*

Before they had flown far, a booming sound came from the front left. Clearly, a battle was taking place.

However, the two did not plan to pay it any mind and continued flying forward. Yet, things did not go as they wished.

A young man came running toward them from the front left. Seeing the two in the sky, he was instantly overjoyed.

”Senior, save me! I, Ling Xuanye, will surely repay you!”

Ling Xuanye shouted as he rushed in front of the two.

Hearing themselves being called out to, it would be a bit too much to simply ignore him.

Jiang Chen and Jiang Suhai slowly descended, looking at Ling Xuanye.

”Senior, save me.”

Seeing the two descend, Ling Xuanye’s hanging heart finally relaxed. In his view, the fact that these two were willing to stop was equivalent to agreeing to save him.

*Roar!*

Just then, a beast’s roar sounded from behind Ling Xuanye.

”Senior, save me!”

Hearing the roar, Ling Xuanye jumped up and quickly ran behind the two.

”What’s in it for me if I save you?”

Jiang Chen looked at Ling Xuanye behind him with amusement.

This Ling Xuanye was not simple either. He was very young, looking only eighteen or nineteen, yet he was already at the Qi Refining Seventh Layer.

At this age, he actually dared to venture deep into the Great Desolation. One didn’t know whether to call him bold and reckless or simply fearless.

Hearing Jiang Chen’s words, Ling Xuanye was stunned. This was not how he imagined it would go.

In his mind, helping others was a joy, and saving a life was a noble deed. Wasn’t that how it was supposed to be? Why did he have to offer a reward? Wasn’t this taking advantage of someone’s peril!

Although he thought this in his heart, he couldn’t possibly say it out loud.

*Roar!*

Just then, a huge beastly shadow appeared.

A creature with the head of an ox, the tail of a fish, and the body of a pig appeared before the three of them, snarling at them.

”It’s actually a Savage Boar Ox. Judging by its aura, it has the strength of the eighth level of Qi Refining. No wonder you were crying for help, kid.”

Seeing this desolate beast appear, Jiang Suhai looked at Ling Xuanye and said with a slight smile.

One must know that desolate beasts have thick hides and tough flesh. At the same level of strength, a desolate beast would completely overwhelm a human. Moreover, this beast had reached the eighth level of Qi Refining. For this kid, who was only at the seventh level of Qi Refining, to be able to escape was no simple feat.

*Roar!*

Seeing the three people ignoring it, the desolate beast grew furious. It took step after step toward them, gathering its strength and preparing to pounce at any moment.

”I am an Alchemist! I can refine pills. I will refine Second Grade Medicinal Pills as a reward for saving my life!”

Seeing the Savage Boar Ox approaching step by step, Ling Xuanye panicked. He spoke without thinking, terrified that the two would leave him and run.

”You are a Second Grade Alchemist?”

Jiang Chen looked at Ling Xuanye in surprise. He really couldn’t tell that this young man was an Alchemist, let alone a Second Grade one.

”Uh, well, not right now, but I will be in the future.”

Ling Xuanye said somewhat awkwardly, his voice getting smaller as he spoke.

”Tch...”

Hearing this, Jiang Chen felt a bit of disdain. He hadn’t expected this young man to actually lie to his face.

”Although I’m not one now, it won’t be long. One month—no, three months, and I will definitely break through to become a Second Grade Alchemist. Right now, I can already refine First Grade High Grade Medicinal Pills.”

Ling Xuanye spoke without reservation. Saving his life was the priority now. Looking at these two, if he didn’t provide some useful information, his life would end today.

”Not enough.”

Hearing Ling Xuanye’s words, Jiang Chen had another thought. As the clan members increased, it seemed he would need to prepare to recruit or train some Alchemists and Artifact Refiners.

However, training them himself was time-consuming and laborious. If there was a ready-made one, it could be considered.

”Still not enough.”

Jiang Chen said, looking at Ling Xuanye.

”What do you want?”

Hearing Jiang Chen’s words, Ling Xuanye knew there was hope; the stakes just weren’t high enough yet.
