All Gods: Starting with Two Families

Chapter 47 Testing the Waters”Respected guest, apologies for the intrusion. One of our major clients is extremely interested in the ’gold of the desert’ Spice you sold previously and wishes to purchase a large quantity.”

”If you are willing to sell, please visit our shop to discuss; we will certainly provide the best possible price.”

It reeked of a trap.

Zhou Zheng was silent for a moment. The black markings constantly spreading on the crystal walls of his Divine Domain were like a death warrant.

He was in desperate need of resources and assistance related to the rainbow staircase. Even knowing it might be bait, he had to take the risk and bite.

Upon arriving at the flowing rainbow palace again, the high-ranking Water Elemental Deity saw him, and a more genuine smile seemed to ripple across its transparent water-like face, its eyes brightening slightly.

It greeted him enthusiastically, ”This is wonderful. A long-time client of the shop has entrusted me to facilitate this connection. He is willing to purchase a large quantity at 20% above the market price in faith points!”

It paused, observing Zhou Zheng’s reaction, and continued, ”This client is still lingering in the Plane at the moment. If you are interested, I can introduce you right now. Please rest assured, we only charge the minimum intermediary fee.”

Zhou Zheng’s brow raised beneath his projection, feigning interest while showing a hint of hesitation. He shook his head slowly and responded via Divine Thought: ”faith points... I don’t have much need for them right now. I would prefer to exchange for items or knowledge that could help with climbing the rainbow staircase.”

The Water Elemental Deity wore an expression that said, ”Just as I thought, I already anticipated this for you,” and even winked playfully at Zhou Zheng.

”This client is a Senior who personally participated in the previous rainbow staircase! He definitely has the good things you need. I’ll talk it over for you in a moment; I’ll certainly get some real goods out of his pocket!”

Its words were earnest, looking entirely as if it were fighting for Zhou Zheng’s interests: ”You don’t need to feel embarrassed. Since I’ve taken a commission, I naturally have to put in the effort to ensure you return satisfied.”

Zhou Zheng sneered inwardly, but on the surface, he cooperated by showing gratitude and anticipation: ”In that case, thank you for your trouble.”

The Water Elemental Deity lifted its slender hand and stirred the air gently.

What seemed like a casual movement actually triggered the surrounding Water Elemental Law, and an invisible ripple rapidly expanded from it as the center, clearly a special means of communication.

After doing this, it led Zhou Zheng to a more elegant and quiet private room inside the palace to wait.

Taking advantage of the gap, Zhou Zheng did not stand on ceremony and seized the time to ask many questions about the details of the rainbow staircase trials and techniques for elemental comprehension. The Water Elemental Deity answered everything without reservation.

Before long, the door to the private room was pushed open by a heavy and steady force.

A stout divine thought projection made of dark brown rock walked in. His movements seemed a bit clumsy; after entering, he honestly scratched the back of his angular head, his voice as muffled as rolling stones:

”I came as fast as I could after getting the message. Is this big brother the seller?”

The Water Elemental Deity immediately gave Zhou Zheng a ”leave it to me” look, then turned around and began to haggle with the Earth Elemental Deity over the price, quantity, and payment method of the Spice.

The Earth Elemental Deity appeared clumsy and tongue-tied, retreating step by step under the Water Elemental Deity’s machine-gun-like verbal offensive, conceding price after price.

He seemed pushed to the point of desperation and interrupted in a muffled voice: ”Stop, stop, stop! I give up! The price you said is fine! But... but if I have to throw in an extra precious elemental gem, it’s not impossible...”

His tone shifted, and those stone eyes flickering with yellow light ”looked at” Zhou Zheng: ”But this big brother must at least take off the cloak so I can see who I’m trading with, let’s make friends! I’m only willing to give benefits to friends!”

The Water Elemental Deity immediately looked displeased, its voice filled with reproach: ”This deity wears a cloak for his own reasons; your request is too rude!”

However, the Earth Elemental Deity seemed dead set on this, exceptionally insistent, and his simple, honest tone carried an unnegotiable stubbornness: ”I don’t care. If no face is shown and no trust is established, I won’t give the gem.”

After such a long detour, the true intention was finally revealed—they were waiting right here!
