Devouring Evolution: Devouring Nuclear Bombs at the Start

174: Chapter 174 Yeros, the True GodAmidst Saidai’s pious prayers, an ethereal voice reached his ears.

”I am aware of this matter. You need not worry; simply protect yourselves.”

The voice was like a benevolent mother comforting a panicked child, devoid of divine majesty.

But when Saidai heard this voice, his entire body trembled with excitement.

The Lord had replied to him; the planet was saved.

Steadying his mind, Saidai withdrew from his state of prayer.

The bishop nearby hurried over at that moment.

Knowing that Saidai’s prayer had received a divine response, the bishop stood respectfully by Saidai’s side, waiting for him to convey the oracle.

However, Saidai didn’t seem to have any intention of speaking the oracle.

He shook his head at the bishop, then turned to the priests present and the residents who had come to the church for refuge, saying loudly:

”You all just need to protect yourselves. Do not ask about anything else.”

...

When Lin Sheng was bored, he would usually fiddle with the skull he had found earlier. Over the past few days, he had polished it so much that its value was about to skyrocket.

”A demigod’s skull... it must have been rough all these years, right?”

Some fragmented information surfaced in Lin Sheng’s mind. Most of the time, he treated this information like stories.

Gradually, after seeing enough of it, he was able to piece the story together.

”Knock, knock.”

”Rona, go open the door.”

Hearing the knocking at the door, Lin Sheng gave the order without even looking up.

Rona went to open the door, and Lin Sheng turned his curious gaze toward the entrance.

It was still night, and in an environment where pollution was spreading, anyone who could come here was definitely not ordinary.

Rona placed his hand on the doorknob, and the shop door opened.

Seeing the person standing at the door, Rona reflexively took a step back.

When Lin Sheng saw the person at the door, he also stood up from his chair.

Standing at the door was a young girl dressed in a platinum-white gown.

The girl had waist-length hair that faded from silver-white to pale blue. Her features were delicate, and her skin was very fair.

She was like a work of art sculpted by a god themselves, but even the most perfect work of art would have some flaws.

Lin Sheng noticed from the start that for some reason, a black cloth strip was wrapped around the girl’s eyes.

This cloth strip completely covered her eyes, making it impossible for Lin Sheng to see them with his naked eye.

But the cloth strip could not block her vision.

Because this girl was a True God.

And a powerful True God at that. Rona’s own strength was at the upper levels of a True God, yet he still instinctively took a step back upon seeing her.

Standing at the door, the girl seemed to isolate the entire space, such that the surrounding pollution could not approach.

”Boss, have we been discovered?”

Rona quietly retreated behind Lin Sheng, peeking out with half his head and staring warily at the girl at the door.

The girl paid no mind to Rona’s words. She just stood quietly at the entrance, as if she would not step through the door without Lin Sheng’s permission.

Lin Sheng didn’t know what the girl was thinking, but seeing her standing there, he quickly spoke up to greet her.

”Come in and have a seat.”

As soon as Lin Sheng finished speaking, the girl nodded slightly and then strolled into the shop.

She didn’t sit on the shop’s chairs but instead stood before Lin Sheng.

The girl looked up, seemingly gazing at Lin Sheng.

Under her gaze, Lin Sheng knew that his body had been seen through.

He hadn’t hidden anything about this body. As long as one paid enough attention, any normal god-level existence could see that Lin Sheng’s body was essentially transformed from an Evil God.

Moreover, the girl was a True God stronger than Rona, so it was expected that she would see through Lin Sheng’s body.

While the girl watched Lin Sheng, he was also watching her.

It had to be said, the girl was truly beautiful and genuinely tempting.

The more he looked at her, the more his appetite grew.

Just as Lin Sheng was wondering whether to take a quiet bite of her while she was off guard, the girl seemed to realize something.

She briefly withdrew her gaze from Lin Sheng before looking at him once more.

A gentle, pleasant voice came from her mouth:

”My name is ’Yeros’. I am a True God of the Church. I will assist you in resolving this pollution.”

Hearing what the girl said, Lin Sheng was momentarily stunned.

The fact that the girl didn’t immediately attack him after learning his identity was already surprising enough to Lin Sheng.

But what surprised him even more was what she had just said.

”Assist him in resolving this pollution.”

Lin Sheng didn’t think the Ximi God would be foolish enough to send a True God to assist an unknown deity like himself in handling the pollution in their own territory. There might be some hidden motive behind this.

Or perhaps a conspiracy, though that possibility wasn’t high. After all, given the Ximi God’s personality, it was unlikely they would resort to schemes and plots.

Staring down at the girl’s forehead, Lin Sheng didn’t hide his confusion and asked bluntly:

”As a True God, can’t you resolve the pollution yourself? Why do you need my help?”

”Tell me the truth, do you have another motive?”

Lin Sheng’s words were very direct. He thought the girl might think of an excuse, but without a second thought, she replied directly:

”The power you possess is above mine. Here, I will listen to you.”

”There is no other motive. You can rest assured.”

”I see~”

Although he couldn’t see her eyes, Lin Sheng felt that she wasn’t lying to him.

He could see that the girl seemed to possess only ”divinity” and no ”humanity.”

Whether in body or soul, she was a pure god.

Her emotions and what she wanted to express were all written on her face.

Unless she had truly and completely deceived Lin Sheng, her words were definitely true.

And completely deceiving Lin Sheng?

That was impossible.

But then again, Lin Sheng realized he seemed to have been led in circles by the girl.

After a few seconds of pondering, he suddenly spoke:

”When did I ever say I would help you resolve the pollution?”

”Hmm?”

The girl looked up, staring fixedly at the slight curl of Lin Sheng’s lips.

As a pure god, she didn’t have such a thing as ”emotional intelligence.”

Everything she did was based on the optimal judgment of her divinity.

Faced with an existence like Lin Sheng who didn’t play by the rules, the girl was stunned on the spot.

Lin Sheng felt like she had...

Crashed?

Lin Sheng reached out a finger, wanting to touch her seemingly smooth and tender cheek.

But just as his finger was about to touch her face, she tilted her head slightly and avoided his touch.

By now, the girl had recovered from her ”crash.” Her expression seemed somewhat puzzled. Looking up into Lin Sheng’s eyes, she asked in confusion:

”Resolving the pollution will save these mortals. Don’t you want to save them?”

Her words were full of conviction, as if this was simply what ought to be done.

After hearing her words, Lin Sheng instinctively muttered:

”Damn it, another Light Lord.”

”Are all the gods here like this?”

If it were a normal person, their refusal would likely be much more subtle.

However, Lin Sheng knew that being subtle or not held no meaning for this girl who only possessed divinity.

He shook his head directly.

”I will not act.”

Whether it was because Lin Sheng’s refusal was too direct or for some other reason, his words plunged the girl into silence once more.

Seeing her standing there in silence, Lin Sheng didn’t bother her.

He sat back down in his chair and resumed fiddling with the skull in his hand.

But gradually, Lin Sheng realized something was wrong.

The girl had been standing there for nearly half an hour, and she still hadn’t moved.

Lin Sheng looked up and saw that she was still standing in front of him. Due to the influence of her divinity, there was no expression on her face.

”Why haven’t you left yet?”

Lin Sheng asked in surprise.

”I cannot find the source of the pollution.”

She shook her head, still expressionless.

”I want you to help me find the source of the pollution.”

”What if I don’t help?”

The girl said nothing.

She knew that forcing Lin Sheng would be difficult for him, so she just stood there without speaking.

But she didn’t realize that doing this was also a form of coercion.

However, Lin Sheng didn’t mind.

He didn’t blame her.

After all, in Lin Sheng’s eyes, existences like her who were entirely driven by divinity were just a bunch of people with mental issues.

Faced with such existences, Lin Sheng was quite tolerant as long as they didn’t keep pestering him.

Still, she was sent by the Church to handle the pollution, and leaving her hanging here indefinitely wasn’t a solution.

Lin Sheng thought for a moment and asked:

”Can’t the Ximi God find the source of the pollution either?”

The girl shook her head, then nodded.

”It can be roughly located, but I cannot reach it.”

”In other words, the source of the pollution has been hidden by power at the level of a Main God, right?”

What she said matched the results of Rona’s previous investigation.

Since Rona said he couldn’t find the source and the girl said she couldn’t reach it, the source was definitely hidden by a Main God.

”Yes.”

”I can go with you to take a look at the approximate location of the pollution source.”

Lin Sheng glanced at the skull on the table and suddenly spoke.

He felt that the way the skull was sealed was similar to how the pollution source was hidden.

Both were hidden by power at the level of a Main God.

With Lin Sheng’s current power, the seal on the skull was not easy to break.

As for the pollution source, although Lin Sheng was unlikely to act, he could still go and take a look.

However, in Lin Sheng’s view, instead of laboriously trying to resolve that pollution source, it would be better to simply abandon this planet.

Resolving the pollution source required at least power at the level of a Main God.

But if they were to relocate the living beings of this planet, at most, they would only need to send a Legend-level expert.
