Devouring Evolution: Devouring Nuclear Bombs at the Start

171: Chapter 171 Strange BeastsIn the end, although Rona did not go home with Yisa, he helped her clear the pollution from her body.

Seeing Rona handle the pollution—which even the High Priests of the Church were helpless against—so easily, even Yisa, no matter how slow she was, realized that Rona’s identity was definitely not simple.

A surge of inferiority couldn’t help but rise in the depths of her heart.

So the gap between her and the other party was actually this large; no wonder he never paid her any mind.

Yisa kept her head down the entire time she was walking home, and before she knew it, she had arrived at her front door.

Looking at the sign of the shop at the entrance, Yisa gently pushed open the door to her home.

Her parents had returned home early at some point.

Seeing Yisa looking somewhat downcast, her Elf parents quickly walked over and asked with concern:

”Yisa, when did you go out? Do you know how dangerous it is outside right now?”

”How are you feeling? Do you feel unwell anywhere?”

The parents clearly knew about the current situation, and seeing Yisa’s low spirits, the two of them were also quite nervous.

They were worried that Yisa was also one of the people who had been polluted.

”Father, Mother, I’m fine.”

”I felt unwell today, so I went to the church. After coming back, my body felt much better.”

Yisa simply told her parents about where she had been. She wasn’t good at lying, so she told the truth but omitted Rona and the matter of the treatment.

”Thanks to the Old... the Lord’s mercy, you are very lucky, daughter.”

When Yisa mentioned her body having issues, her parents showed a visible look of worry.

But upon learning that Yisa had been cured, a smile returned to her father’s face.

”Father, Mother, what about you? Were you polluted?”

Seeing the heartfelt concern on her parents’ faces, Yisa felt a warmth in her heart.

Only then did she realize she hadn’t asked about her parents’ situation yet.

”Thanks to the Lord’s mercy, your mother and I are also fine.”

Hearing his daughter’s concerned inquiry, the Elf Father replied with a smile.

After learning that her parents were also fine, Yisa breathed a sigh of relief.

After chatting with her parents for a few more minutes, she returned to her room.

Too much had happened today, and she needed some time to process it all.

...

”Boss, I’ve brought something good back for you.”

Rona’s excited voice drifted into the shop from the entrance.

Lin Sheng looked up at the shop door. Under his gaze, Rona presented a bloodshot eyeball before him as if showing off a treasure.

”What is this?”

Looking at this particularly nasty-looking eyeball, Lin Sheng asked with a frown.

”Something delicious!”

Rona held the eyeball in both hands, taking credit with an expression that said ’hurry up and praise me’.

”I got this specially for you.”

”You’re calling this something delicious?”

Hearing what Rona said, Lin Sheng’s face turned a bit dark.

But at this moment, Rona’s eyes were not on Lin Sheng’s face, so he did not see that Lin Sheng’s expression had already darkened.

”That’s right.”

Rona nodded and said with great certainty.

”Then you eat it.”

Lin Sheng glanced at the eyeball Rona was holding in both hands and, regardless of whether the other party would resist, directly waved his hand at him.

The eyeball instantly flew out of Rona’s hands and shot toward his mouth.

Rona was about to close his mouth when he met Lin Sheng’s threatening gaze.

”Open your mouth wider. I told you to open your mouth wider.”

Although Lin Sheng’s voice was light, these words fell into Rona’s ears as terrifyingly as the whispers of the Old Days.

He didn’t dare to resist and could only open his mouth as if resigning himself to fate.

A bizarre texture was transmitted to Rona’s consciousness through his tongue. Just as Rona was about to swallow it, he heard Lin Sheng continue:

”Chew a few times.”

”Venerable God, I...”

Rona originally wanted to resist a little; after all, the texture of this thing was not great.

But when he saw the vertical slit on Lin Sheng that split from his mouth down to his abdomen, the words he wanted to say were forced back down.

*Munch munch.*

Several chewing sounds came from Rona’s mouth. During this time, the pained expression on his face never disappeared.

”Someone is coming to find me. Go and bring him here for me.”

After Rona swallowed the ’delicious’ thing he had brought, Lin Sheng waved his hand at him.

Rona said nothing and left the place with a pained expression.

He didn’t ask Lin Sheng who was coming or where they were.

As a god, Rona didn’t need to ask Lin Sheng about such a small matter.

...

Traveling at night was already a dangerous thing, not to mention that the current planet was not peaceful either.

The planet was now filled with pollution at the demigod level. Intelligent beings who believed in the Ximi God could resist this pollution through faith, but the strange beasts on the planet knew nothing of the Ximi God.

Strange beasts were different from magical beasts; their intelligence was only at the level of wild animals. Before this pollution incident even appeared, many strange beasts on this planet had already been polluted.

Many Orthodox Churches would periodically clear out these mindless strange beasts. However, because the number of strange beasts was too high and their strength far exceeded that of ordinary Transcendents of the same level, strange beasts remained active in this universe to this day.

Some scholars once speculated that strange beasts were also Evil Gods Minions.

After all, strange beasts were born powerful and with low intelligence; such creatures could easily be polluted by the universe’s rules or by Evil Gods.

However, this speculation was quickly refuted.

Because everyone discovered that strange beasts did not carry any pollution at birth.

But even so, scholars still gave strange beasts two titles.

”Natural Evil Gods Minions.”

”Existences Most Likely to Fall into Evil Gods.”

The strength of strange beasts was inherently powerful, and combined with their low intelligence, they would unknowingly grow to an extremely terrifying degree under the pollution of the universe’s rules.

Many Evil Gods below the level of the Old Days were formed by strange beasts growing unknowingly.

Although there were few strange beasts on the planet where Lin Sheng was, it didn’t mean there were none.

These strange beasts themselves possessed a certain degree of pollution. Previously, under the suppression of the Ximi God’s divinity, they could barely refrain from going out to cause trouble during the day.

But this time, the pollution within their bodies, triggered by the demigod-level pollution, directly caused them to lose their sanity completely.

Strange beasts whose minds and bodies were controlled by chaos were very terrifying; Saidai had deep experience with this.

Because right now, he had encountered several strange beasts that had completely lost their sanity.

These strange beasts were madly launching attacks on living things around them, and unfortunately for Saidai, as he was rushing along, his figure happened to appear near these strange beasts.

”What’s going on?”

Sensing these several terrifying auras around him, Saidai was startled.

He was very puzzled.

Although he had been rushing, he would also pay attention to any dangers on the road.

Under such circumstances, it should have been impossible for him to rashly stumble into the vicinity of strange beasts.

Saidai immediately realized where the problem lay.

To become the Archbishop of the planet’s central cathedral, one needed not only great strength but also keen insight.

Saidai knew this was no coincidence.

Someone wanted to use the hands of strange beasts to get rid of him.

As for the purpose of the person behind the scenes, Saidai could guess roughly.

As the Archbishop of the central cathedral, once he died, the planet would inevitably fall into great chaos. Presumably, this was the result the person behind the scenes wanted to see.

As for what the person behind the scenes wanted to do after the planet fell into chaos, Saidai was not clear about that.

But Saidai knew he couldn’t die.

Perhaps due to the existence of the Ximi God, the person behind the scenes didn’t dare to directly attack him, which was also one of his advantages.

As long as he didn’t die, the other party’s plan would not succeed.

With a grave expression, Saidai took out a scepter. This was the symbol of his position as Archbishop and also a combat artifact.

Looking at the several strange beasts surrounding him, Saidai felt a wave of alarm.

The weakest of these strange beasts was at the sixth rank of the Transcendent level, and the largest one had even reached the peak of the eighth rank.

This peak eighth-rank strange beast had a cone-shaped head and a twisted body; the aberration made it so Saidai could no longer see the beast’s original appearance.

Saidai didn’t remember there being such terrifying strange beasts on the planet. If there were, they would have long since been annihilated by the enforcement personnel sent by the Star Sector Central Cathedral.

Judging by the aura emanating from this strange beast, it was clear that its level had been forcibly raised by someone for the purpose of intercepting Saidai here.

Saidai gripped his scepter, staring intently at these strange beasts.

From the moment his figure appeared here until now, only a few seconds had actually passed.

In these few seconds, Saidai had taken out his scepter and thought of a countermeasure.

And in these few seconds, these strange beasts had also shifted their targets to the suddenly appearing Saidai.

The creature before them gave them an extremely uncomfortable feeling.

They desperately wanted to kill him.

”Roar!”

Several strange beasts let out a low roar at Saidai almost at the same time, launching an attack on him without any warning.

Saidai dodged, barely avoiding the attacks of several beasts, but the attack of the peak eighth-rank strange beast was too fast for him to evade.

Saidai could only hold his scepter in front of him, manifesting a transparent barrier in an attempt to block the attack of the eighth-rank beast.

*Clang!*

The strange beast’s body struck the barrier, letting out a long, resonant sound.

Where the body met the barrier, a powerful shockwave spread out, causing even the several sixth-rank strange beasts to be blown back a few steps.

”Hiss—”

Saidai sucked in a breath of cold air.

Although he had blocked this strike from the strange beast, he had also suffered significant injuries because of it.

Blocking the full-strength blow of an eighth-rank strange beast was not as simple as it looked on the surface.

If he hadn’t been worried about an accident, Saidai might have even wanted to use the divinity he had brought with him when he left the cathedral.
