Devouring Evolution: Devouring Nuclear Bombs at the Start

164: Chapter 164 Lin Sheng’s Identity Exposed?Since it was currently nighttime in the Ximi Starfield, the two believers before him might not be able to withstand it if Lin Sheng spoke the Evil God’s name directly.

Therefore, Lin Sheng took a set of paper and a pen from Archbishop Saidai and wrote down a general account of how he had ”captured” this cultist at the time.

After sealing the piece of paper tainted with the Evil God’s pollution, Lin Sheng left the Great Cathedral.

He did not plan to leave with the Regional Bishop.

And regarding Lin Sheng’s early departure, the Regional Bishop didn’t dare say anything.

He even wanted to give the shuttle to Lin Sheng, but Lin Sheng refused.

...

Three days later, the night receded and daylight arrived, as the divinity of the Ximi God once again enveloped the entire Ximi Starfield.

Under the shroud of the Ximi God’s divinity, the Regional Bishop and Saidai opened the sack together.

”Hiss—”

Seeing the situation inside the sack, Saidai couldn’t help but suck in a breath of cold air.

Compared to Saidai, the Regional Bishop had already seen the scene inside the sack before, so he appeared much calmer than Saidai.

”With this level of pollution, did this person directly recite the true name of that Old One?”

Looking at the Transcendent whose body was half-rotted and half-turned to bone, Saidai murmured.

He was almost certain that before dying, this Transcendent must have recited the true name (title) of an Evil God.

Otherwise, he definitely wouldn’t have left behind such a level of pollution after death.

If not for these two sacks, the consequences would be unimaginable once this pollution spread.

”Wait, something’s wrong!”

Right then, Saidai suddenly noticed a sense of incongruity.

He looked at the two sacks on the ground before him and suddenly spoke, seemingly murmuring to himself yet also asking the Regional Bishop beside him:

”Tell me, do mortals have the ability to seal the pollutants of an Old One?”

”Can a mortal listen to the true name of an Old One without the protection of a god?”

As soon as these two questions were asked, the Regional Bishop was suddenly stunned on the spot.

He weighed his words and spoke:

”What do you mean?”

Saidai didn’t speak; he raised his gaze and let it fall on the piece of paper to the side.

This was what Lin Sheng had written earlier, the paper containing the account of the situation at the time.

Because this paper mentioned an Old One, it resulted in the paper also carrying pollution that was unbearable for mortals.

When Lin Sheng was writing, he had casually isolated the pollution within it.

Saidai and the Regional Bishop hadn’t realized anything was wrong at that time; after all, during the night, everyone subjectively chose to ”forget” certain things regarding the Old Ones.

This led these people to only know that the Evil God’s pollution level was high during the night, but as for exactly how high, they didn’t dare to think deeply about it.

Now that daylight had arrived, their courage had grown.

Therefore, many incongruous points began to surface.

Saidai picked up the paper where Lin Sheng had isolated the pollution, and as he read the contents, his pupils suddenly constricted.

”This person was previously secretly sacrificing to the ’lord of the spirit remains’ on a street in the busy downtown area; when I found him, he was still secretly sacrificing.”

”When I discovered him, I casually mentioned this lord of the spirit remains, and then this person completely fell apart.”

Lin Sheng had only written two sentences on the paper, but these two sentences alone made Saidai break into a cold sweat.

In just two short sentences, every single one mentioned the ’lord of the spirit remains’!

When reading these two sentences written by Lin Sheng, Saidai simply couldn’t detect any of the tension one should have when facing an Old One from Lin Sheng’s tone.

Instead, he felt that this Old One, in Lin Sheng’s heart, seemed...

to be just that?

As soon as this thought emerged, Saidai was instantly drenched in a cold sweat.

The Regional Bishop beside him wasn’t doing much better at the moment. Although he hadn’t thought as much as Rona, he could guess the gist of it after seeing Lin Sheng’s attitude toward the Old One in the message.

”Archbishop, should we report this matter to the Central Cathedral?”

Seeing Saidai staring blankly at the paper, the Regional Bishop spoke up, pulling Rona’s thoughts back.

He didn’t dare to make wild conjectures, but in his heart, Lin Sheng’s true realm had already reached the level of a ”True God.”

”Whew.”

His thoughts pulled back to reality, Saidai took a deep breath before continuing:

”You don’t need to worry about this matter, nor do you need to disturb that existence.”

”When dealing with that existence, don’t be too deliberate; just treat Him as a Half-step Legend.”

”I will report this matter, but as for exactly what to do, we must wait for the God’s reply.”

Saidai knew that since Lin Sheng had been pretending to be an ordinary person, he definitely was unwilling to expose his identity.

Before they received instructions, they only needed to continue treating Lin Sheng as a Half-step Legend powerhouse.

But even so, when Saidai referred to Lin Sheng, he had changed the pronoun to the divine ’He’.

”Understood.”

The Regional Bishop nodded solemnly.

He had already decided that once he returned, he would delete the memory concerning ”Lord Ye Kuhai being a deity.”

Anyway, for him, whether it was a Half-step Legend or a God, they were both levels he could never reach.

Facing an existence of this level, the Regional Bishop would always face them with a hundred and twenty percent respectful attitude.

...

Under the witness of the Ximi statue of god, platinum-colored Holy Flames enveloped the pollutants and the victim’s remains. In an instant, the pollution was eradicated, and the remains turned into spots of light that dissipated from the world.

Saidai finished dealing with the pollutants, but he kept the sack Lin Sheng had brought, as well as the message left by the other party.

To a mortal like Saidai, these were already rare treasures; if he encountered an irresistible danger in the future, perhaps they could be of use.

The Regional Bishop had already left the Great Cathedral, and now only Archbishop Saidai remained in the church.

Looking toward the Ximi statue of god before him, Saidai knelt on the ground and began to pray devoutly to the deity.

”Lord, your devout child implores you to cast your gaze down.”

”Your child has encountered an unimaginable existence. That existence may hold goodwill, but your child does not know how to face the goodwill of such an existence.”

”Great Lord, please descend your decree and tell your child how to face that existence.”

Saidai murmured, as specks of milky-white divine light gathered around him.

After a long time, an almost imperceptible gaze seemed to take notice of this place.

When this gaze appeared, Saidai’s whole body trembled.

This was from excitement.

Because, in his devout prayer, the Lord’s gaze had truly fallen upon him.

In order not to waste the Lord’s time, Saidai quickly recounted the matters regarding Lin Sheng.

After finishing, Saidai maintained his kneeling posture, waiting for the Lord’s reply.

”No need to care.”
