Reincarnation of the Strongest Healer

Chapter 1037: Handsome Chao

In the past timeline, Handsome Chao was always regarded as some narcissistic and eccentric old man by players. Not only was his shipyard extremely small, but he also refused to rent or sell any of them out.

This was already during the time when most shipyards had opened up to players and allowed them to rent ships to travel the sea.

Thus, his small shipyard’s popularity dipped drastically and many avoided him like a plague.

That was until one player who was clueless and did many missions to earn Evershade Merits stumbled across the old man.

The old man was able to sense the merits of the player and swiftly requested for an exchange. The said player was initially reluctant, still holding a misconception that his merits were worth a lot.

Hence, the player rejected, only to realize the merits were useless everywhere besides the old man who showed great interest. Without a choice, the player shamefully returned to the old man and obtained an Epic Ranked Warship.

Since then, the player realized their great fortune and thanked the old man.

As for how this came to light, the player repeatedly boasted about it and revealed information after the public paid him generously to spill the beans.

And since this player was a clueless type, they naturally failed to understand the significance of an Epic Ranked Warship.

What made the player beyond fortunate was that the Epic Ranked Warship could only be obtained once.

To summarize, thanks to their luck, the said player earned a massive fortune and became an elite member of a reputed guild by offering the Epic Ranked Warship.

However, that was the end of this said player’s fortune now that Xu Feng had taken advantage of it.

’Don’t blame me for using it to my benefit.’ Xu Feng silently thought.

He would truly be a fool if he never used his advanced knowledge to widen the gap of other players. It would be even more ridiculous if he allowed others to catch up to his progress when he got such a cheat.

To be fair though, Xu Feng still interacted with Handsome Chao after learning of the news. He might have failed to obtain an Epic Ranked Warship, but he still managed to snag a Bronze Ranked Warship after toiling.

Hence, he really couldn’t be considered taking advantage of someone else this time.

”Well, I can’t believe someone actually manages to earn these merits that have nowhere to spend.” Chao Shen laughed heartily and stood up, his hand holding onto his folding fan. ”Anyway, I won’t let your effort go in vain. Come follow me.”

Sometime later, Xu Feng followed him and entered the interior. The interior of Night Ship was restricted, so unless granted permission by the owner, no players would be able to enter it. This was why Handsome Chao was such a topic in Evershade City.

His Night Ship was the only shipyard that barred customers from trying to enter and patronize him.𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖

But the premise was that only Handsome Chao’s shipyard had the best product available in the middle stages.

After entering, Xu Feng realized there was another dimension concealed within the shipyard.

’This must be the place where he kept the Epic Ranked Warship.’ He deduced silently.

”Don’t touch anything.” Chao Shen warned solemnly. ”I won’t take any responsibility if you trigger any of the traps and get yourself killed.”

”I understand,” Xu Feng nodded and made sure to keep his hands still.

He was now more certain that this secret dimension was the storage compartment.

Sure enough, he witnessed Chao Shen manipulate multiple mechanisms during their pathing. Amidst their pathing, there were numerous items that were on display on the shelves. Each one was more valuable than the previous one.

Now, some might begin to harbor thoughts of striking Chao Shen and taking these items for themselves.

However, that was the mindset of a fool. NPCs weren’t stupid or foolish in the Divine World.

This was especially true when the NPC was extremely powerful.

And Handsome Chao’s strength was on par with City Lord Magnus. No, maybe it was even higher than City Lord Magnus.

City Lord Magnus had the strength of Tier 5 and ruled Star Falls City. Xu Feng had to tread carefully when dealing with Magnus, much less talk about Chao Shen, who was even more fearsome.

In hindsight, those who dared to vie for Handsome Chao’s treasures always ended up in a state worse than death.

As Xu Feng kept a nonchalant expression and didn’t bat an eyelid on the treasures that they walked past, Handsome Chao was a bit intrigued.

’Interesting...’ Chao Shen smirked. With a simple glance, he could tell the gears that the youngster wore in front of him were quite mediocre, except for the staff. He had thought that the youngster would at least take a closer look at each treasure shown on the shelves.

”Do you not fancy any of my treasures?” Chao Shen raised the question and pointed at a robe-looking item. ”This robe is quite the magical element. It has sturdy defense and enables Mages to cast spells faster thanks to its rune.”

”It’s a good item, but I think my robes are decent enough.” Xu Feng lightly said. He flung his sleeve and flashed his robes, indicating that he was satisfied with his current equipment.

”Are you sure? This robe is at least several levels higher than you and it’s not for sale.” Chao Shen explained, essentially turning into a salesman. He proceeded to open the display shelf and retrieved the robe.

”Come and feel this fabric. Isn’t it very smooth and silky?” He trailed his finger around the robe and sniffed it well, expressing an ecstatic face.

”...”

Instead of being impressed or amazed, Xu Feng felt creeped out by his behavior. It was as if he had just witnessed an old man crossdressing as some magical girl character.

”No, thank you, Handsome Chao.” He shook his head and refused adamantly. Needless to say, Xu Feng was certain that this old man was up to no good and wanted to bait him into some trap.
