Reincarnation of the Strongest Healer

Chapter 367: Conspiracy

Carmen realized she was definitely going to get scolded repeatedly after ghosting Veronica yet again.

”Ugh, this is all your fault, Guild Leader!” Carmen glared at Xu Feng. ”Why is it that everytime I adventured with you, the time is always going by so fast?”

”Eh?” Startled, Xu Feng didnʼt expect to be scolded for that. He was innocent in this aspect as well.

It was not like he asked to be sent into a different time operating session.

Still, as the guild leader, it was his responsibility.

”Did something happen again?” Xu Feng asked in a concerned tone. ”If there is, just tell me and Iʼll see what I can do about it.”

Hearing that, Carmen also realized it was wrong of her to blame everything on Xu Feng.

”Sigh, itʼs not really your fault either, Guild Leader.” Carmen lowered her head slightly and proceeded to explain how she planned on poaching her friend, Veronica, but ghosted her again.

Once she finished relaying the events, Xu Feng was also rendered speechless by the unlucky timing. Two times, Carmen failed to respond to her friend because of the Divine Worldʼs unconventional time zone difference.

Having understood the gist of her situation, Xu Feng could sympathize with her outburst.

After all, he had once been on the receiving end as being the person getting ghosted. To retaliate against them, Xu Feng even gave them a fierce punch in the face to release his anger.

That said person was none other than Zhao Kai, which was why the situation was quite awkward. Given that the ”Zhao Kai” now was Carmen, even he was somewhat helpless by the situation. Stay updated with empire

In the end, Xu Feng patted Carmenʼs shoulder and said, ”Just say your guild leader, aka me, was being a pain in the butt and took most of your time.”

”Eh?” Dumbfounded, Carmen didnʼt expect him to really take the blame for her.

”Are you sure about that?” Her eyes sparkled in joy, almost as if she had found a scapegoat for her crisis.

Seeing her excitement, Xu Feng facepalmed. It appeared that she truly wished to push the blame on him. ”Yes, so just go and pacify your friend now.ʼ

”I can leave right now?” Uncertain about it, Carmen turned her attention to Earthrender.

”Aside from this man, the two of you are free to leave,” Earthrender said in a friendly tone.

”Eh, but what about the task Conductor Yaren assigned me?” Crimson Heart asked in a doubtful tone.

The reason why they were here in the first place was to gather Silver Glyph Fragments. Yet she hadnʼt even gathered one of them after all this time.

”Yarenʼs assignment?” Confused for a moment, Earthrender asked, ”Are you talking about the Silver Glyph Fragment?”

Nodding, Crimson Heart continued, ”Yes, Conductor Yaren said we can only return if we gathered enough. Otherwise, itʼs considered a failure. We donʼt need to return to the stage and just wait for the reward afterward.”

”Oh, then you can relax. Yaren got it already and she merely said it to ensure you all wonʼt slack off.” Earthrender slammed its tail on the ground, seemingly amused by Yarenʼs shrewdness.

”Bruh…” Crimson Heart was rendered speechless. She had taken this task with extreme determination to win, but to her disbelief, Yaren never expected them to succeed.

”So everything from the beginning was a conspiracy to make us undergo this test of yours?”

Earthrender nodded and proceeded to explain why he even bothered to compensate them. To ensure the immersion, they purposely concealed the matter and deceived them.

However, it kind of got ruined thanks to a certain smarty-pant.

Recalling how Xu Feng not only sabotaged the other potential successor but also the illusion test indirectly, Earthrender glared at him fiercely.

”Are you going to make a move against your successor?” Feeling a slight killing intent, Xu Feng remained calm and asked softly.

Knowing that Earthrender couldnʼt make a move against him, Xu Feng was rather bold and courageous.

After all, finding another successor was definitely not going to be easy.

Additionally, he was positive that it was somehow rushing for time, given that it had collaborated with Yaren in scheming at the Paradise Plains main competition.

Such a risk, if exposed and learned by the officials, its Abyssal Rift habitat would be raided. This concerned the reputation and honor of Paradise Plains after all.

Thus, Earthrenderʼs gifts were not simply an apology, but a bribery to keep their mouths shut.

”Yaren mentioned that you are free to return once youʼre done and she will internally let the two of you decide on who is the ultimate winner,” Earthrender explained and removed the restriction on the area.

”But for now, the two of you can exit here. I still have some private discussion with this man here.”

”I have a name, okay. You can call me Feng, or even a healer would be better.” Xu Feng chimed in.

”Whatever, man.” Earthrender snorted and patiently waited for Carmen and Crimson Heart to leave.

”I guess we can decide who will win once youʼre out.” Crimson Heart said and teleported away. Based on her expression alone, it was evident that she wanted to inspect the two items she had received.

As for Carmen, she simply waved her hands and said, ”I might leave Paradise Plains early, Guild Leader.”

”Go ahead and tell your friend she is free to enjoy a 20 percent discount on all Vanguard-related business if she were to arrive at Star Falls City.” Xu Feng exclaimed.

”You canʼt go back on your words then.” Carmen smiled blissfully and teleported away a few seconds later.

Now the area only had Xu Feng and Earthrender remaining in the area.

”So my reward—”

Before Xu Feng could finish his words, Earthrender interrupted him and conjured a portal.

”Follow me and make sure to not unleash your mana,” Earthrender warned sternly. ”Weʼre going to a sensitive place and any mana fluctuation could affect the environment.”

A bit startled, Xu Feng was confused but still nodded in response and followed him.
