Peninsula: Director of Public Prosecutions Starts with Daily Intelligence

: Difficult? If it’s difficult, don’t do it!!!“As long as you’re happy.” Lee Se-hyun smiled. Ideals were beautiful, but reality was harsh.

He hoped Kim Minjeong could always maintain such innocence.

“Thank you.” Kim Minjeong showed her small canine teeth and smiled sweetly.

“Which company are you a trainee at?” Lee Se-hyun asked curiously.

“Ms Entertainment!” Kim Minjeong replied.

“Ms Entertainment?” Lee Se-hyun exclaimed in surprise. He really hadn’t expected Kim Minjeong to be a trainee at Ms.

Just a while ago, he had even called President Kim to ask him to look after Choi Jinri.

“What’s wrong?” Kim Minjeong’s expression was odd; she didn’t understand why Lee Se-hyun reacted so strongly to Ms Entertainment.

“Nothing, just focus on being an Idol trainee.”

“If I may ask, how long have you been training for your debut?”

“It’s been two and a half years in total.” Kim Minjeong didn’t think the question was rude at all.

Two and a half years, what a quick pace!

Trainees on The Peninsula usually trained for several years before debuting in the center position; two and a half years was already extremely fast.

“I will repay you for saving my father.” Kim Minjeong suddenly said.

Lee Se-hyun was caught off guard: “Huh? Oh!”

“I will definitely repay you!” Kim Minjeong reiterated seriously.

“How do you plan to repay me?” Lee Se-hyun teased.

He was a distinguished Prosecutor; what could a small Idol like Kim Minjeong do to help him?

Forget about repayment; it would be good if she didn’t cause trouble for Lee Se-hyun.

Kim Minjeong said bitterly: “I haven’t thought of it yet!”

“Once our aespa group becomes hugely popular on The Peninsula, I’ll earn lots and lots of money, and then I’ll give it to you!”

“Wow.” Lee Se-hyun feigned surprise: “Then I’ll wait for that day.”

“Dongtian (Winter), you are the best!”

Kim Minjeong’s confidence wasn’t just in herself, but also in Ryu Jimin, and even the entire aespa group.

She believed that one day, they would reach the pinnacle of The Peninsula’s entertainment industry, just like Girls’ Generation, becoming a trending Girl Group, famous across the land.

This was Kim Minjeong’s dream, and also the dream of every member of aespa.

Kim Minjeong was also very grateful to Lee Se-hyun. If it hadn’t been for Lee Se-hyun, Kim Kunam would probably have been in jail for several years, and the father and daughter, who had just reunited, would have been separated again.

Kim Minjeong’s mother had already died of illness, and her father was in prison, which would have been a devastating blow.

A deceased mother, an imprisoned father, and her as a trainee.

While Kim Minjeong might tease Lee Se-hyun verbally, seeming a bit disrespectful, deep down, at some point, Lee Se-hyun had firmly occupied a corner of her heart.

Lee Se-hyun didn’t take Kim Minjeong’s words to heart. Even if Kim Minjeong really did become as popular as a second-generation Girls’ Generation one day...

To Lee Se-hyun, it was just that. Was Girls’ Generation really that amazing?

At the end of the day, weren’t they just performers?

In the face of power, they were as weak as ants, characters that could be crushed at will... After several rounds of drinks.

“Chief Li, if you have any problems in the future, you can always come to me, your elder brother.” Secretary Wang patted his chest and guaranteed: “We are all on the same side, so please don’t be shy.”

“No problem, no problem.” Lee Se-hyun raised a glass: “Working under the same roof from now on, I’ll have to trouble you a lot, Elder Brother Wang.”

“Cheers!” Secretary Wang raised his glass. Clearly, Secretary Wang was a bit tipsy, and the glass in his hand swayed precariously.

“Bottoms up!” Lee Se-hyun said with clear eyes, raising his glass.

“Drink again!”

“Bottoms up again!”

One glass of craft beer after another went down, and Secretary Wang’s face was slightly hazy; he was already in a state of mild intoxication.

“I’m older than you, so it’s not too much for me to call you little brother, is it?”

“Well… whatever makes you happy.” Lee Se-hyun wasn’t going to argue with a drunk person.

Secretary Wang was Chief Prosecutor Cheng’s confidant. Although he wasn’t a Prosecutor, he was certainly old enough to be Lee Se-hyun’s older brother.

He was even old enough to be his uncle!

At Secretary Wang’s age, Kim Minjeong would have to call him uncle.

Secretary Wang put down his glass and said seriously: “Good! Since you acknowledge me as your elder brother.”

“Elder brother has to remind you of something.”

“What is it?” Lee Se-hyun asked, puzzled.

Secretary Wang put down his glass and said vaguely: “You’ve just arrived at the Eastern Prosecutor’s Office, and there are many things you don’t know.”

“The waters here are very deep, and there are many intricacies.”

“For years, I’ve walked on thin ice, been cautious in my words and actions, and only step by step have I reached my current position.”

“Do you know what I relied on?”

Facing Secretary Wang’s question, Lee Se-hyun quickly answered: “Walking on thin ice.”

“That’s right! It’s like… cough cough, it’s being cautious in words and actions, and being low-key.” Secretary Wang almost choked on his drink.

[Secretary Wang’s negative emotional value +10]

Lee Se-hyun nodded, indicating his full agreement with the propositions of Brother Thin Ice and Brother Low-Key.

Because Secretary Wang was describing himself; being cautious in words and actions and being low-key were synonymous with Lee Se-hyun.

Lee Se-hyun had always been a very low-key person.

The kind who didn’t even leave his name when doing good deeds as a child, at most saying, “I am Lei Feng.”

Doing good deeds without leaving a name! That’s Lee Se-hyun!

Lee Se-hyun raised a glass of water: “Elder Brother Wang! For these few words of wisdom on how to live, I’ll drink to that!”

“As you wish!”

Lee Se-hyun chugged another glass, making Secretary Wang stare in a daze. How many glasses was that?

Secretary Wang could no longer remember, only that he had chugged and chugged, and the table was covered with empty bottles.

He wondered in surprise, was this Lee Se-hyun even human? He had drunk so much yet his expression was as normal, not feeling anything at all?

Lee Se-hyun suddenly asked: “Elder Brother Wang, I hear you have something more to say. Could you elaborate?”

“Has Shixian offended you in any way?”

Lee Se-hyun felt that Secretary Wang was pouring out his grievances to him. Normally, when Chief Prosecutor Cheng went to attend the Federal Conference,

the accompanying person should have been Secretary Wang. But this time, a dark horse appeared out of nowhere.

Chief Prosecutor Cheng took Lee Se-hyun instead.

Didn’t this ruin Secretary Wang’s good opportunity?

This was the Federal Conference! Secretary Wang indicated that he also wanted to go! But he couldn’t.

Secretary Wang pretended to be profound: “Actually, you weren’t the only candidate to accompany Chief Prosecutor Cheng to the Federal Conference this time.”

Uh… it wouldn’t be you too, would it?

Lee Se-hyun thought to himself, it was indeed about the Federal Conference, but he didn’t think Secretary Wang was a petty person.

He wouldn’t hold a grudge against Lee Se-hyun over this matter.

If Secretary Wang really disliked Lee Se-hyun, he wouldn’t have accepted his dinner invitation.

A glint of shrewdness flashed in Secretary Wang’s eyes as he said: “You know Minister Cui, right?”

“This time, Minister Cui was originally supposed to accompany Chief Prosecutor Cheng to the Federal Conference.”

“Unfortunately…”

“Minister Cui?” An archive file appeared in Lee Se-hyun’s mind, and he asked: “Is it Minister Cui of the First Criminal Department?”

Before coming, Lee Se-hyun had already thoroughly understood the basic situation of the Eastern Prosecutor’s Office.

He had a rough idea of the leaders of the main departments, how many factions there were, and a few folk songs.

This Minister Cui was the head of the First Criminal Department and also Chief Prosecutor Cheng’s man, a confidant among confidants.

Compared to Secretary Wang, who was merely a general assistant, Minister Cui was the successor Chief Prosecutor Cheng was grooming.

Normally, this trip to Pretty Country should have been Minister Cui accompanying Chief Prosecutor Cheng.

Then, inexplicably, Lee Se-hyun, the Chief Prosecutor, replaced him.

Secretary Wang thought to himself, either this younger brother in front of him was Chief Prosecutor Cheng’s illegitimate child, or he had an incredibly powerful background and was here for a temporary assignment.

Secretary Wang had also briefly reviewed Lee Se-hyun’s file, which was very ordinary, even somewhat unremarkable.

Born in an orphanage, later adopted by parents in Pretty Country and went to study there, then returned to the country to take university entrance exams.

He successfully passed the Seoul University entrance exam, followed by the judicial exam, and was smoothly assigned to the Seoul Central Prosecutor’s Office.

Moreover, he was in the highly prestigious Strategy Department, under Han Kang-sik, the new star of Strategy Department One.

His life could be described as smooth sailing, like he had a cheat code, a pure cheat!

Aside from having a wife, which was somewhat controversial, he was a textbook example of a life winner.

Secretary Wang even suspected that the file was fake!

Because it was just too… indescribably strange.

It was as if Lee Se-hyun had been cared for by God since childhood, everything going smoothly, without experiencing a single hardship.

Secretary Wang didn’t believe it, unless there was definitely an invisible human hand manipulating everything behind the scenes!

Lee Se-hyun saw Secretary Wang nod, not denying it, and understood in his heart.

He had just arrived and done nothing, yet he immediately gained Minister Cui’s favor.

Negative favor!

What to do now?

He, the Chief Prosecutor, happened to be assigned to the First Criminal Department, under Minister Cui.

Strictly speaking, this Minister Cui was still his direct superior.

He was in for it now!

Lee Se-hyun shook his head, not wanting to think about all that nonsense. It was simply a matter of meeting challenges as they came.

Just a department head at the Eastern Prosecutor’s Office!

He wasn’t afraid of a department head at the Seoul Central Prosecutor’s Office.

Would Lee Se-hyun be afraid of a department head from a rural Prosecutor’s Office?

Besides, he was now a Chief Prosecutor, just one step away from entering the department.

Just a mere department head.

Just as Secretary Wang and Lee Se-hyun were about to clink glasses again, a noisy commotion came from outside.

“Difficult? If it’s difficult, then don’t do it!!!”
