Peninsula: Director of Public Prosecutions Starts with Daily Intelligence

Is Jessica Jung your daughter?! (Please give me a monthly ticket)”Find someone!”

Lee Se-hyun finished speaking and threw out a pack of marlboro.

The security guard was stunned for a moment, then said with a better expression, ”Brother, it’s not that I don’t want to let you in, but there’s a regulation from above.”

”Except for residents, outside vehicles need to register and contact the resident you’re looking for.”

”Only then can we let you in. Please understand.”

Lee Se-hyun pulled out his Prosecutor’s ID and said, ”Prosecutor’s Office. I won’t get out of the car. Please help me register.”

”Prosecutor’s Office?” The security guard hesitated, ”Are you a... Prosecutor?”

The security guard scurried out of the guardhouse, carefully examined the ID, and immediately saluted.

The security guard flattered, ”Prosecutor Sir! Please come in!”

”No need to register?”

The security guard looked at Lee Se-hyun in the car, quickly shook his head. Ask a Prosecutor to get out and register? Isn’t that asking for death?

”No need, no need! I’ll open it for you personally!”

”Thanks!”

Lee Se-hyun started the engine. Once the barrier lifted, he sped off, quickly disappearing from sight.

The security guard remained in place, puzzled. A Chief Prosecutor came just now, and now a Prosecutor. What exactly is going on? Did he poke a hornet’s nest of Prosecutors today?

Remember us, 101kanshu.com.

The security guard held the marlboro in his hand and muttered to himself, ’This Prosecutor is quite respectful, unlike that Chief Prosecutor whose driver was arrogant and looked down on them.’

Security guards are people too, okay! They have feelings too!

After Lee Se-hyun parked the car in the garage, he carried large and small bags, an ’82 vintage red wine in his left hand, and the sunset wild geese painting in his right.

Old man, how can I not thoroughly win you over now?!

Ding-dong ~

The doorbell rang, and Lee Se-hyun waited outside the door.

”Who is it?”

A kind old man’s voice came through.

As Director Zheng opened the door, he saw an unfamiliar young man carrying gifts, and wondered who this young man was.

Seeing Director Zheng’s confusion, Lee Se-hyun introduced himself, ”Elder Zheng! It’s me! Little Li from the Seoul Central Prosecutor’s Office!”

”From the Prosecutor’s Office?” Director Zheng scrutinized him. The young man in front of him was handsome and from the Prosecutor’s Office. He suddenly remembered.

Director Zheng said politely, ”You... you’re from the Strategy Department, aren’t you? I remember now. Didn’t I see you in Minister Han’s office that day?”

Lee Se-hyun nodded, ”Yes, you still remember? I’m one of Minister Han’s subordinates.”

”Why are you here?” Director Zheng was very puzzled. Why would Han’s subordinate come to his door?

Lee Se-hyun lifted the gifts and explained, ”Elder Zheng is my senior. I just happened to be passing by this area and thought I’d pay you a visit.”

”Axi! Just come, why bring anything? You’ve really gone to a lot of trouble!” Director Zheng quickly declined.

”Hey!” Lee Se-hyun explained, ”This wine was personally brewed by my wife. It’s not worth much!”

Director Zheng exclaimed, ”Prosecutor Li’s wife can even brew wine? She’s truly talented, I’m so envious, this old man.”

Park Yeonjin could brew a pile of crap wine, drinking it was more like it. Lee Se-hyun smiled against his will.

”Come! Prosecutor Li, please come in quickly!” Director Zheng enthusiastically greeted, ”Old wife, we have a distinguished guest today, stir-fry a few more dishes!”

One doesn’t hit a smiling person. Lee Se-hyun was so polite and brought gifts to his door, so how could Director Zheng possibly turn him away?

Moreover, Lee Se-hyun was part of the Prosecutor system and a capable subordinate of Han Kang-sik, the rising star.

Naturally, he was a distinguished guest.

Lee Se-hyun said politely, ”Elder Zheng, you are a senior, you can just call me Little Li.”

”Haha!” Director Zheng laughed, ”Then I’ll presume to be older, and in my old age, I’ll call you Little Li.”

Director Zheng gestured, ”Please sit, please sit.”

Lee Se-hyun sat upright and properly to the side, a little reserved, unsure of what to say.

Director Zheng also couldn’t figure out why Lee Se-hyun was visiting today. Nothing happens without a reason, and unusual circumstances often hide something sinister.

The two were somewhat silent. Logically speaking, this was only their second meeting, and the atmosphere was a bit awkward.

Lee Se-hyun simply cut to the chase, pulling out a magnificent classical box from the gift box in his left hand.

Then he took out the sunset wild geese painting from inside and presented it to Director Zheng.

”This is?!” Director Zheng exclaimed, immediately standing up and saying in disbelief, ”Could this be the legendary sunset wild geese painting?”

The sunset wild geese painting, he definitely hadn’t seen wrong! What Lee Se-hyun held was actually a genuine work by Tang Yin!

As an art fanatic, nothing was more captivating than a masterpiece painting.

Lee Se-hyun said, ”I’ve long heard that Elder Zheng enjoys painting. Yesterday, a friend happened to give me this sunset wild geese painting, which is also said to be a genuine work by Tang Yin.”

”I don’t really understand painting, but I heard that Elder Zheng is quite accomplished in the art of painting.”

”Since I was passing by today, I wanted to ask you to appraise it!”

”Appraise?” At this moment, Director Zheng’s eyes seemed about to fall into the painting. He laughed, ”I didn’t expect you, young man, to be quite well-informed.”

”You Prosecutors who deal with intelligence just love to peek into other people’s private information.”

They, journalists and news workers, are called paparazzi by outsiders. They have extremely low moral standards, specializing in digging up dirt and intelligence on others.

But frankly, weren’t these Prosecutors also paparazzi?

They also dug up dirt on others, and then dealt with them!

The difference was that one had the power to enforce laws and convict, while the other was just ordinary citizens. Both relied on intelligence for their livelihood.

Director Zheng shook his head, gently caressing the sample of the sunset wild geese painting and said, ”I wouldn’t call myself an expert; I’m just an enthusiast who loves painting.”

Lee Se-hyun, understanding, spread the painting flat so Director Zheng could appreciate it better. Director Zheng took off his glasses and continuously stroked the painting, sighing.

”Good! Truly a masterpiece by Master Tang. The painting technique, the spiritual conception, are extraordinary and remarkable!”

”The unity of heaven and man, the noble idea of harmonious coexistence with nature, blended with the author’s longing for his hometown...”

”Good! Very good!”

Director Zheng kept exclaiming, making Lee Se-hyun on the side wonder, ’Is it really that good?’

Lee Se-hyun didn’t understand painting; he only knew what looked good and what didn’t. If he were to appreciate it, he certainly wouldn’t be able to articulate it or understand it as well as Director Zheng.

He probably understood the creative process and thoughts better than the author himself.

”But...” Director Zheng suddenly wondered, ”If this old man remembers correctly, shouldn’t Tang Yin’s sunset wild geese painting be in the museum in Xia Country?”

”How did it end up in your hands, Little Li?”

Director Zheng wasn’t questioning whether Lee Se-hyun had given him a fake painting; that would be too disrespectful. Lee Se-hyun shouldn’t be that foolish, right?

Since he was a Prosecutor, he should know his level of painting expertise. If he really brought a fake to fool him, Director Zheng would be very angry.

The consequences would be severe!

Even if you are a Prosecutor, you can’t fool this old man like that!

”Abba! I’m home ~”

At this moment, a voice came from outside the door, along with the sound of a key unlocking it.

The door opened, and a graceful figure appeared.

Hmm?!

It was her!

Jessica Jung of Girls’ Generation?!
