Peninsula: Director of Public Prosecutions Starts with Daily Intelligence

:A white lie?!”Are you alright?” Lee Se-hyun asked, concerned about the rather disheveled You Mo.

Lee Yu-mok shook her head, indicating she was fine, and started to clean up the mess on the floor.

”Your cooking is really excellent,” Lee Se-hyun said after finishing the last sip of soy milk, praising her, ”I really like it.”

Lee Yu-mok’s cooking was indeed excellent; she could easily open a breakfast shop.

He found it strange that someone as talented as Lee Yu-mok would be content with being a housekeeper.

Lee Se-hyun carefully observed Lee Yu-mok. She had an oval face and well-defined features, but there was a hint of melancholy about her.

The first impression she gave was one of inferiority! Lack of confidence! And then, a very negative overall demeanor.

The three great sorrows of life, early wisdom yet weak in power, probably described someone like Lee Yu-mok.

Born into an ordinary family, or even a lower standard of living.

People raised in such an environment can usually be judged by their appearance.

They typically carry a look of hardship and inferiority, like the Lee Yu-mok before him.

Lee Se-hyun asked curiously, ”You Mo, at your age, shouldn’t you be studying?”

”Ah?” Lee Yu-mok replied nervously, ”I... because of family reasons, I stopped studying after high school.”

Lee Yu-mok’s resume submitted to the domestic helper agency already stated this, so she didn’t need to hide her high school education.

If it weren’t for her lack of higher education, she wouldn’t have applied for a domestic helper job.

These days, The Peninsula is very competitive. Without a university degree, you can’t even apply for the most basic clerical positions at a company.

You don’t even have the qualification to submit a resume!

And in the nation’s capital, Capital City, an economic hub where university students are as common as dogs and graduate students are everywhere.

Lee Yu-mok’s high school diploma could almost be considered illiteracy.

The issue of her education became a lifelong pain point for Lee Yu-mok.

At this moment, Lee Se-hyun suddenly asked about it, and Lee Yu-mok felt a surge of inferiority. Her hands, which were cleaning, trembled slightly.

”Is that so?” Lee Se-hyun said regretfully, ”That’s truly a pity.”

”For someone as talented as You Mo, not continuing to university and instead working as a domestic helper seems like a waste of talent.”

Judging from the meticulously prepared breakfast by Lee Yu-mok, her learning ability was still very strong.

Being able to quickly grasp a new skill in a very short time—that’s talent!

The best way to test a person’s intelligence is to have them learn a skill, from zero foundation to proficiency.

How much time is spent during this period, what learning methods are used, and what learning efficiency is ultimately achieved.

Based on this, Lee Yu-mok should be the kind of student who excels in academics.

Her appearance also matched Lee Se-hyun’s ideal of a high school student—studious, academically strong, a high school crush.

Hearing Lee Se-hyun’s praise, Lee Yu-mok’s face showed a bitter smile. Only she knew the sorrow behind it.

Due to special family circumstances since childhood, she was originally a child from a deaf-mute family.

From a young age, her parents supported her schooling by hand-washing expensive clothes for others.

Why special circumstances?

A special family and special experiences: when Lee Yu-mok was in elementary school, she was adopted by a Pretty Country couple.

The Pretty Country parents consisted of a father who was an officer stationed on The Peninsula, and a mother from a noble family in Pretty Country.

When God closes a door, he always opens a window for you.

Young Lee Yu-mok, starting from a deaf-mute family, instantly became a noble young lady.

Her Pretty Country mother taught Lee Yu-mok noble etiquette, raising her to be a noble young lady.

Lee Yu-mok lived up to expectations, demonstrating intelligent learning abilities from a young age, which greatly pleased her noble mother.

Lee Yu-mok originally thought she would grow up as a noble young lady, but the reality was... sweet dreams eventually wake up!

One rainy night, her Pretty Country parents divorced after an argument.

Lee Yu-mok once again fell from an angel in heaven to the human world, returning to the slums.

Fate can be very cruel sometimes!

After such a dramatic life, Lee Yu-mok’s mental state was already very good to not have committed suicide.

It’s easy to go from frugality to luxury, but hard to go from luxury to frugality!

How could a young lady who had experienced a noble life be content to be a Cinderella in the slums?

Thus, amidst these intertwined extreme circumstances, Lee Yu-mok learned a fatal skill.

That was lying!

This skill accompanied her throughout her life!

This also led to her tragic first half of life!

Lying gives rise to a series of negative effects, accompanied by weakness, cowardice, inferiority, and so on... ”Kamsahamnida,” Lee Yu-mok thanked him, then, out of vanity, added, ”But I’ve been preparing for Night University exams recently.”

Night University?

Lee Se-hyun’s memory brought up the explanation of this term. Did The Peninsula also have adult universities?

That’s right, not just The Peninsula, but the whole world should have them.

Many people, for various reasons, never attended a regular university, which is a regret.

Therefore, where there’s a market, there’s a demand. Diplomas from institutions like Night University and correspondence courses emerged.

They stem from people’s desire for academic qualifications, for social recognition!

For that piece of paper that even a swallow would find too crude to wipe its bottom with!!!

”When is your exam then?” Lee Se-hyun asked, ”Do you have an ideal school in mind right now?”

”Which university are you planning to apply to?”

”Capital City... Ewha Womans University,” Lee Yu-mok lied.

She had originally wanted to say Seoul University, but then she thought, wasn’t the Lee Se-hyun in front of her a graduate of Seoul University?

That would be like showing off one’s axe before Lu Ban.

It was better to be a bit more modest, lowering the prestige from Seoul University, and saying she was applying to Ewha Womans University.

Ewha Womans University is also very famous on The Peninsula; it’s a university that only admits female students.

Commonly known as a girls’ school.

If Seoul University’s status on The Peninsula is akin to Tsinghua University or Peking University in China.

Ewha Womans University would be a legitimate C9 league institution.

It wouldn’t be embarrassing at all to show off to relatives, with its high ranking.

In fact, Lee Yu-mok’s ideal during high school was to get into Ewha Womans University.

Unfortunately, due to various reasons, she failed!

She was only a step away from her dream, just a few points short of the score needed to get into Ewha Womans University.

”You’re quite ambitious,” Lee Se-hyun said in surprise.

Although Lee Yu-mok wasn’t pursuing a regular degree, a Night University diploma from Ewha Womans University was still challenging.

It still required examinations in subjects like mathematics and English, and the total score had to reach the passing line for admission.

It wasn’t as simple as people imagined.

The Peninsula is known as the most competitive country in the world!

”In return for the delicious breakfast you made, which I was very satisfied with, if you encounter any difficulties, you can come to me.”

Lee Se-hyun promised. In fact, in his previous life, he was also a small-town test-taker, crossing a single-plank bridge with thousands of others.

He barely managed to get into a second-tier university.

Naturally, he had an inexplicable fondness for people who worked hard to improve themselves.

Perhaps it was empathy.

”Kamsahamnida!” Lee Yu-mok bowed. Regardless of whether Lee Se-hyun’s words were polite or something else.

She was genuinely grateful for Lee Se-hyun’s concern.

Lee Se-hyun’s impression in her mind had been good from start to finish.

A top student from Seoul University!

Who passed the judicial examination, known for its hellish pass rate in the world.

A young, promising, handsome Prosecutor with a boundless future!

No matter which identity, they were beyond Lee Yu-mok’s reach.

It could be said that with just a word from Lee Se-hyun, she could immediately cross class boundaries.

Do not doubt the social power Lee Se-hyun possessed; perhaps Lee Se-hyun himself didn’t even know.

When he took over as Prosecutor Brother, assuming the identity of a Prosecutor, his single word already held the power to determine someone’s fate.

Lee Yu-mok gazed at Lee Se-hyun’s retreating figure, lost in thought.

Her heart was currently undergoing a tremendous struggle.

Perhaps the lies she told before were for vanity, but now her heart was uncertain.

Was she going to keep lying forever?!!!
