Death Game: Starting as a Trickster, Pretending to Be a God

For Lin Yu, it actually didn’t matter which of the remaining five bullet types he randomly got.

Aside from [Dogma] and [Mercy], aiming the other four bullet types at vital spots would definitely kill people.

After Lin Yu fired his gun, there would only be two outcomes—an eighty percent chance of instant death, and a twenty percent chance of falling into deep sleep.

That’s why Lin Yu said the one-fifth probability of [Mercy] appearing meant the other guy had good luck.

Because [Mercy] was truly ”merciful.”

”Lucky for him too—this guy should be quite useful later. Keeping him alive has its benefits.”

Li Nian picked up the hemp rope and meticulously tied up the man on the ground, speaking to Lin Yu.

Lin Yu raised his eyebrows in surprise.

”What use could he possibly have?”

Li Nian flipped her hand to reveal the card she had stolen from the man earlier, speaking with a cheerful grin.

”Ta-da!”

She read the text on it aloud.

”Truth Corporation Employee Identification Credentials, Name: Punkdo Von Valetti;Gender: Male;Position: Security Department Protection Division Field Team δ Group Leader;Privileges: C-2... This guy has pretty high clearance. While he’s not exactly a big shot within Truth Corporation, he’s at least a mid-level manager.”

Li Nian said this with a playful smile, while Lin Yu looked surprised.

”This guy is actually an internal Truth Corporation member, and even a minor leader.”

Li Nian nodded: ”Exactly. Although I have some knowledge about this ’Despair Train,’ it’s just secondhand rumors and surface-level information. If we can extract useful intel from him later, it might greatly benefit our safe clearance.”

”After all, he’s not just an internal Truth Corporation member—he also seems to have been on this Despair Train for quite a while. Look how worn his uniform is.”

But hearing Li Nian’s plan, Lin Yu raised a new question.

”Judging by his condition and statements during our earlier confrontation, I don’t think he’s in a clear, rational state.”

”If he’s simply gone mad, that’s one thing. But if that’s just his normal personality, communication will be even more difficult.”

Li Nian rubbed her chin.

”That is indeed a tricky problem, but after he wakes up, let me give it a try. I believe there’s still a chance we can get him to cooperate.”

”Alright, we’ve cleared the final checkpoint. We should proceed to the next carriage.”

As she spoke, Li Nian waved toward Chen Zhuo at the end of the carriage.

”Hey—fatty, come do some work!”

Chen Zhuo had already been secretly watching that the battle seemed to be over, but out of caution, the chubby guy kept his shield up while huddled in the corner until Li Nian and Lin Yu personally confirmed it was safe.

Only when Li Nian called him did he fully confirm the situation was secure, so he put away his shield and happily scampered over.

”You actually solved it! As expected of two great experts from the 『Free Alliance』—coming from a major organization really makes a difference!”

”Even someone who doesn’t look simple at all was easily subdued by you—and captured alive at that!”

Looking at the gray-uniformed man sleeping soundly on the ground, Chen Zhuo quickly offered flattering words.

Lin Yu remained relatively calm, but Li Nian couldn’t help putting her hands on her hips and chuckling proudly when praised by Chen Zhuo.

”Quite perceptive there, fatty. But my strength within the 『Free Alliance』 is only mid-to-lower tier at best...”

Lin Yu looked at Li Nian, tilting his head curiously: ”Mid-to-lower? Are you sure you’re not actually bottom tier?”

While acting as ”Zhu Ming,” the woman’s appearance transformed by [False Face] had soft, gentle features and a warm voice, but it was precisely this kind of face and tone that made her words particularly cutting.

Li Nian was instantly provoked to near madness by Lin Yu’s single remark.

”Ahhh—don’t expose me like that!”

She cried out dramatically, then glared angrily at Chen Zhuo.

”You’re responsible for carrying him!”

Li Nian pointed toward the already open carriage door.

”We need to go to the next carriage.”

Beyond the door, the connecting area between carriages was pitch black, completely invisible.

Chen Zhuo looked at the profound darkness and couldn’t help feeling afraid.

However, with Lin Yu and Li Nian providing protection, and the strength they’d just demonstrated surpassing all the cheap hires from his previous two employments...

This might not even be their full capability!

So Chen Zhuo quickly overcame his fear.

And what he needed to overcome next...

Was his own laziness.

Looking at the tall, thin man on the ground, Chen Zhuo took the two rope ends Li Nian had deliberately left for him and tried dragging him.

Although the man was tall and thin, the combat-designed uniform and various equipment added up to considerable weight.

Chen Zhuo was an out-of-shape otaku who barely ran during PE classes—just trying to drag the man twice already left him breathing heavily from exhaustion.

”This... do I really have to drag him?”

As the employer, Chen Zhuo prepared to exercise his rights with these two frightening individuals for the first time.

But before Chen Zhuo could protest this arrangement, Li Nian shut him down with one sentence.

”Otherwise? If Zhu Ming and I carry this guy, our combat effectiveness will be reduced. Should you handle any ambushes yourself then?”

As Li Nian spoke, Chen Zhuo immediately fell silent.

Lin Yu, using Zhu Ming’s gentle big sister persona, smiled and approached Chen Zhuo. Lifting the sleeping tall man from the ground, he said: ”Carry him on your back. I’ll help tie him to you... This will be more convenient, and if anything attacks from behind, he might even block it for you.”

Lin Yu’s tone was gentle.

For an otaku like Chen Zhuo, the current ”Zhu Ming” was absolutely impossible to refuse.

He could only nod numbly, watching as Lin Yu tied the rope around him, securing the tall man to his back.

Then Lin Yu patted his shoulder.

”Think of it as exercise. If your physical fitness doesn’t improve, things will get harder later.”

This scene reminded Chen Zhuo of when he first entered elementary school as a child, and his grandmother helped him carry his backpack.

So Chen Zhuo’s gaze became determined.

”Understood! I’ll complete the mission!”

Lin Yu nodded with satisfaction.

Then Chen Zhuo walked with firm steps, following the two to the carriage door.

Li Nian took out a portable flashlight and turned it on, illuminating the carriage connection area.

And within the illuminated darkness, both walls were filled with transparent jars packed with eyeballs.

These transparent jars were filled with unknown liquid, with pipes connected to their openings, neatly arranged throughout the carriage connection area.

The eyeballs of various sizes and colors floating in the liquid... actually seemed to possess their own consciousness, rotating and looking around.

And sensing the light from Li Nian’s flashlight, these eyeballs all simultaneously turned to look at the three people entering the carriage connection area!
