Beast Taming: I'm Really Not a Cultivation Master

Chapter 514: Chapter 475: Contract

”What... what are you doing here?” Li Qian was at a loss for words. Facing Wu You, he didn’t know what to say.

”You’re the one who said it. After the New Year...” Wu You said matter-of-factly. ”For us in the Wing Race, the New Year falls on the twenty-seventh of the twelfth lunar month. It’s already after the New Year.”

”...” Li Qian was speechless. ’This woman... she’s not wrong... as if!’

’She clearly timed this on purpose.’ What vexed him even more was his mother, Han Yuqing, speaking up. ”Little Youyou, don’t worry, just ignore him.”

”I just adore a girl as pretty and sensible as you...”

She started backing Wu You. ”Look, if you have any problems, you tell me. If anyone bullies you, I’ll beat them up for you!”

Great.

Li Qian didn’t even want to speak anymore.

’And she says ”if anyone bullies you”... She might as well just say my name,’ Li Qian thought helplessly.

”Mom, she’s older than me...” Li Qian reminded his mother.

Hearing her call Wu You ”Little Youyou” over and over made him cringe.

Upon hearing this, his mother, Han Yuqing, said dismissively, ”So what if she’s older? Being older means she can keep you in line!”

’Mom, are you coming down with a case of daughter-in-law fever?’

Li Qian really wanted to ask that out loud, but then he reconsidered. He had already fallen from grace in his mother’s eyes, so he resentfully gave up the idea.

’It would be useless to ask anyway.’

His mother, Han Yuqing, had clearly already decided on this daughter-in-law.

”Forget it. Whatever.” Since he couldn’t argue his way out of it, Li Qian decided to drop it.

”Mom, is lunch ready?” he asked, changing the subject.

”Eat, eat, eat, all you ever think about is eating! Little Youyou just got here. Don’t you know you should take her for a walk around the Cultivation Base?” Han Yuqing scolded, clearly displeased.

Li Qian: ”...”

’So, does love just disappear?’

’No, it doesn’t disappear. It just gets transferred.’

Watching the two of them getting along like mother and daughter, Li Qian chose to swallow his pride.

The meal was a swirl of complicated feelings.

During the meal, Li Qian shot several glances at his father, Li Chengyang, but the latter acted as if he hadn’t seen a thing.

Li Qian could only think helplessly, ’Right. Can’t count on him when it matters most!’

”So what exactly are you thinking?” After the meal, on his mother’s orders, Li Qian took Wu You for a walk around the Cultivation Base. When they reached a quiet, deserted spot, he suddenly asked.

”What do you mean, ’what am I thinking’?”

Wu You blinked her big eyes and looked at Li Qian. ”Shouldn’t I be the one asking you that?”

”What exactly are *you* thinking?” Wu You’s tone became serious. ”Didn’t you say you needed to think about it? Well, how’s the thinking going?”

”Me?” Li Qian pointed to his nose, a little stunned.

Wu You turned to face Li Qian. ”I’ve suppressed my Spiritual Power Level at Commander Peak specifically to form a contract with you.”

Li Qian nodded slightly.

He believed her. If Wu You’s Spiritual Power Level were to break through to the Dominator Level, then seeing her as a Pet Beast, the gap between their major Levels would make it impossible for Li Qian to complete the contract.

The fact that she was still suppressing her advancement was proof enough of her sincerity.

”But even if it’s about the contract, you didn’t have to come at this exact moment. Look, my mom has completely misunderstood!” Li Qian scratched his head and said awkwardly.

He could feel Wu You’s sincerity, but his mind was a mess. For a moment, he didn’t know how to respond and instinctively wanted to avoid the topic.

”Misunderstood?” Wu You’s gaze sharpened. ”Is it a misunderstanding?”

”I’m just waiting for your answer,” the woman said candidly. ”If you say no, I’ll leave this afternoon. We can just pretend everything that just happened was me joking around with your mother.”

”But if you agree, then it won’t be a misunderstanding at all.”

Glancing at her surroundings, the Wing Race woman found a random stone block and sat down. ”Forming a contract with you means I’ll be bound to you for life, no matter how you see it.”

”My entire being will be under your control. What difference does it make if we have a relationship in name or not!”

”We are destined to share all fortunes and misfortunes, to be tied together for life! I came to terms with that the moment I decided to form a contract with you!”

Li Qian was moved by her words. ”Have you... really thought this through?”

”Rather than entrusting my fate to someone else, I’d rather take a gamble on you.” The Wing Race woman gave a carefree smile. ”If you can figure out my evolution method, I’ll have won the bet and be reborn. If you can’t...”

”It doesn’t matter... Twenty-five years isn’t a long time, but it’s enough...”

At that moment, Li Qian was once again at a loss for words. Wu You’s speech had stirred up a tempest in his heart.

He also found a stone block, sat down, and fell into deep thought.

The two of them sat side by side, neither saying a word. The atmosphere suddenly fell into a strange silence.

About half an hour later, the Wing Race woman suddenly let out a long sigh. She stood up mournfully and murmured with a bitter smile, ”I know your choice now. I’m sorry for wasting your time. But you won’t have to feel conflicted anymore...”

As she spoke, the Wing Race woman prepared to leave, but just then, Li Qian suddenly reached out and grabbed her.

”What are you doing?” Li Qian asked.

Wu You sniffled. ”Going home.” She then emphasized, ”My *own* home!”

”What...”

Li Qian looked at the Wing Race woman and suddenly smiled, a brilliant smile. ”You’re about to form a contract with me. Doesn’t that make this your home, too?”

”You...” Wu You’s eyes widened at Li Qian’s words.

”You agree!” the Wing Race woman cried out with joy.

Li Qian spread his hands. ”If I recall correctly, I never said no, did I?”

”Then just now...” The Wing Race woman was confused.

Li Qian chuckled. ”Just now, I was thinking about where to begin my research after we form the contract.”

*Pfft!* Hearing this, Wu You burst into tears of joy.

A moment ago, when Li Qian hadn’t responded, she had been terrified, her heart sinking into despair.

The feeling of having all her passion doused with cold water had left her feeling utterly hopeless.

Of course, it had also been agonizing. Now that things had taken a turn for the better, her heart was inevitably churning with emotion.

Having made his decision, Li Qian didn’t hesitate. He walked straight over, formed a hand seal, and began to silently chant the contract Spell. At the same time, crimson blood began to seep from his fingertips.

As the contract ritual proceeded, a complex Hexagram pattern began to appear between Li Qian’s fingers.

Within the intricate Hexagram, thousands of stars seemed to swirl. A single glance held a magical power that could pull a person in completely.
