Beast Taming: I'm Really Not a Cultivation Master

Chapter 505: Chapter 466: Arrangements, Return, A Visitor

To Li Chengyang’s and Li Qian’s delight, his mother, Han Yuqing, woke up after breakfast.

Li Qian and Li Chengyang immediately rushed over to see her. Han Yuqing was in fairly good condition. Although she looked a bit weak and her face was pale, she was in high spirits.

After the family of three exchanged some pleasantries, Li Qian cut to the chase. ”Mom, can you try to remember who planted the Blood Spirit Gu on you?”

”And try to focus on a man named Sun Daifu—he’s the father of my old classmate, Sun Shouhe.”

Hearing Li Qian’s words, Han Yuqing sank into thought. The mention of Sun Daifu immediately triggered a memory, and her expression grew agitated as she said, ”It must have been him.”

”About two months ago, Sun Daifu suddenly showed up at our door. He was desperately begging me to talk to you, to plead on his son’s behalf.”

Han Yuqing recalled the scene, explaining, ”From what I understood at the time, his son had joined a Cult Organization and attacked you, which was why he was arrested.”

”How could I possibly plead for his son?” Han Yuqing said indignantly. ”Not only did I refuse his request, I gave him a stern lecture.”

”I can still clearly remember it... As he was leaving, his eyes were filled with hatred.”

After calming his mother down and telling her to get some rest, Li Qian returned to Building One.

”So, what’s your plan?” Dean Pan asked, getting straight to the point as soon as Li Qian returned.

Li Qian knew what he meant and asked in return, ”Dean Pan, what would you suggest?”

”What suggestions could I have? There are really only two options.”

Dean Pan said, ”First, bring your parents directly to Shazhou Beast Taming University. The university will take responsibility for their safety.”

”The other option is to strengthen the security here.”

Li Qian nodded slightly. The two options were exactly what he’d expected.

Personally, he definitely preferred the first option.

It was the safest option.

However, this wasn’t a decision he could make on his own. He had to get his parents’ opinion.

After all, they had lived here their whole lives. After so many years, they were bound to have a deep attachment to their hometown.

”I know what to do. I’ll have an answer for you today,” Li Qian said with a nod.

As a dean, Dean Pan was an extremely busy man with countless things to attend to; he certainly didn’t have much time to waste here.

So, he had to give a reply as soon as possible. That very morning, he began discussing the matter with his father, Li Chengyang.

Li Qian naturally favored the first option, hoping both his parents would move to Shazhou City.

As for the Jiaoyang Cultivation Base, with Mrs. An here to look after it, it wouldn’t fall into disuse. At most, he’d just have to come back periodically to help evolve a batch of Pet Beasts.

Li Qian calmly laid out all the pros and cons, and his father, Li Chengyang, listened intently.

Once Li Qian had more or less finished, his father finally spoke, sharing his own thoughts. ”Xiaotian, I haven’t discussed this with your mother, but we’ve been married for so many years. I have a pretty good idea of what she’ll think.”

”Knowing her, she won’t want to leave Lingshui City.”

He looked at Li Qian, his eyes filled with pride. ”We’re so happy that you got into one of the Eight Great universities and became a cultivation genius.”

”But you have your own life to live. A young eagle has to leave the nest and fly on its own eventually.”

Li Chengyang said with a rare touch of melancholy, ”We can’t follow you forever. This place is our roots, a sanctuary for our souls.”

”Someone has to watch over it, to keep it alive. I don’t want you to come back years from now only to find withered branches, fallen leaves, and crumbling ruins.”

Li Qian was deeply moved. ”Dad, I...”

For a moment, he was at a loss for words.

”Alright, don’t overthink it,” Li Chengyang said with a smile. ”This was just an isolated incident. The Public Security Bureau will definitely increase security, so it won’t be so easy for something to happen to us. Besides,” he added, ”I doubt the Cult Organization will dare to make any rash moves. They’re probably worried this was all a trap we set for them.”

The two of them talked for about another hour. Afterwards, Li Qian left his father and went to the room where his mother, Han Yuqing, was resting.

As he had expected, his mother Han Yuqing’s decision was identical to his father’s.

She didn’t want to leave Lingshui City either.

With that, Li Qian had no other choice but to inform Dean Pan of the situation.

Dean Pan nodded, not at all surprised. ”Respect their choice. And really, you don’t need to worry too much. Even if they stay in Lingshui City, their safety will be guaranteed.”

”The protection from the Public Security Bureau is only one part of it. After this incident, we at Shazhou Beast Taming University will also be investing resources in this matter.”

Dean Pan continued confidently, ”Finally, there’s the impact of the incident itself. After what happened, the Cult Organization will surely be more cautious.”

”Most importantly, the Cult Organization doesn’t usually kill family members. As long as your parents are around, you have a weakness, a vulnerability they can exploit. If something were to happen to them, you would, in a sense, become unassailable. In many cases, that’s a situation they’d rather avoid.”

Li Qian nodded slightly. He felt that Dean Pan had a point.

Of course, the most important factor was that his parents had already made up their minds. No amount of persuasion would change that.

So, this was how it would have to be.

Of course, Li Qian wasn’t about to pin all his hopes on the Cult Organization’s hesitation.

Therefore, he couldn’t skimp on any necessary protective measures.

He had already decided that in addition to the arrangements made by the university and the Public Security Bureau, he would implement some measures of his own.

He would station at least a few Tidal Sea Spirits at the base.

With Tidal Sea Spirits there, he could use their Purification Technique for regular scans, adding another layer of security.

Having made his decision, Li Qian wasted no time. That very afternoon, he informed Dean Pan.

Dean Pan relayed his decision to the university. The very next morning, a new, ordinary-looking employee appeared at the base.

The new employee was a man in his sixties who looked quite weathered. Li Qian didn’t know his real name.

Following Dean Pan’s lead, Li Qian also addressed him respectfully as ”Elder Han.”

’Even Dean Pan has to address him respectfully as Elder Han,’ Li Qian thought. ’This man’s background must be extraordinary. At the very least, his power can’t be underestimated.’

With Elder Han watching over the Jiaoyang Cultivation Base, the weight on Li Qian’s heart was finally lifted.

That afternoon, he and Dean Pan returned to Shazhou City through the Teleportation Array.

As for his arranged deal with Pei Yuanyuan, that would have to wait. Or perhaps, he could wait for them to come to him.

In any case, under the current circumstances, Dean Pan would never let him remain in Nandu City by himself.

Safety was only one concern. The other was the fear that Jiangnan Beast Taming University, seeing his talent, would try to poach him.

That night, just after returning to Shazhou Beast Taming University and before he could even catch his breath, Li Qian was informed that someone was waiting for him at the campus guest house.

Li Qian was puzzled. ’Who would be looking for me at this hour? Pei Yuanyuan and her mentor?’

’They shouldn’t be this impatient...’

Without overthinking it, he headed straight for the campus guest house. When he saw who was waiting, a look of utter astonishment spread across his face.

Li Qian truly never expected that the person who had come all this way to find him would be her!
