Beast Taming: I'm Really Not a Cultivation Master

Chapter 300: Chapter 272: Xue Yuan

”What do we do now?” Lu Tianjiao asked Li Qian, his expression anxious as he watched his ”old lover” give chase.

Without much thought, Li Qian pursed his lips and said, ”You hold her off. I’m going to close my eyes and try summoning my Pet Beasts again.”

’The reason Lu Tianjiao’s old lover was able to interrupt my summoning of Qizai and Xiaoliu is most likely related to the crimson glow in her eyes,’ he thought. ’That scarlet light must be able to affect a person’s mind.’

’If that’s true, then just closing my eyes and not looking at that crimson gaze should be enough to avoid its influence.’

That was what Li Qian was thinking, and he voiced his idea directly. But when Lu Tianjiao heard it, he couldn’t help but roll his eyes and then roar, ”Bro, I can’t hold her off!”

How was he supposed to block this thing that was obviously not a normal human anymore with just his Flesh and Blood Body, when he couldn’t even summon his Pet Beasts?

”You have to hold her off, whether you think you can or not!” Li Qian knew Lu Tianjiao couldn’t manage, but he had no intention of negotiating. The moment the words left his mouth, he shut his eyes.

’In my opinion, Lu Tianjiao’s background is definitely not simple,’ Li Qian thought. ’You could tell just from the way he strolled around Shazhou Beast Taming University like he owned the place. He’s got to be rich or from a powerful family. People like that don’t go down easy. He most likely has a trump card up his sleeve to save his own skin.’

’As for him being forced to play that trump card here at the Beast Taming University, causing a huge scene and losing face... well, that wasn’t my problem.’

Acting on his thoughts, Li Qian darted away in the critical moment, putting some distance between himself and Lu Tianjiao to avoid getting caught in the crossfire. Then, he closed his eyes and began activating his Beast Taming Contract.

The Summoning Array appeared again. The Spiderman figure subconsciously glanced over, and, as expected, its crimson eyes began to flicker.

This time, Li Qian had his eyes closed. He thought he would no longer be affected, but to his surprise, the Summoning Array was interrupted yet again.

Lu Tianjiao’s heart sank when he saw this. He asked urgently, ”What’s happening?”

”The eyes are just for show. This thing... it’s interrupting my Beast Taming Contract, but fundamentally, it must be using Energy!” Li Qian theorized, looking at the Spiderman figure, its eyes seeping a bizarre red light.

Hearing this, the corner of Lu Tianjiao’s mouth twitched. ”In other words, closing your eyes was completely useless.”

”That seems to be the case.” Li Qian spread his hands helplessly.

”Shit~!” Hearing this, Lu Tianjiao couldn’t help but curse.

”No other way. We’ll have to fight it head-on.” As Li Qian spread his hands in a helpless gesture, a dagger had somehow appeared in his grasp.

’I kept this in my Space Necklace just in case. I never thought I’d actually have to use it now.’

”Uh, where did you get a weapon?” Lu Tianjiao asked, his voice full of astonishment as he executed another clumsy roll to dodge the Spiderman figure’s pounce.

”Just got it out of my Spatial Equipment. Why?” Li Qian answered instinctively.

”Shit, why didn’t I think to prepare any weapons!” Lu Tianjiao was filled with regret, but unfortunately, it was too late for that.

Li Qian shot him an exasperated glance. No one could have predicted this kind of situation.

For a Beast Master, weapons were mostly useless—not just melee weapons, but even firearms. If your Pet Beast could handle the opponent, you didn’t need a gun. If your Pet Beast *couldn’t* handle the situation, a gun in your hand was no different from a fire poker.

The exception was Federation-issued Superpower Weapons, or a Mechanical Element Pet Beast that took the form of a firearm.

Seeing the Spiderman figure still viciously trying to kill Lu Tianjiao, Li Qian gritted his teeth and charged.

’He’s my neighbor, after all, and he did treat me to dinner. I can’t just abandon a teammate and run away now.’ Li Qian wasn’t the type to do something like that.

’Most importantly,’ Li Qian thought, ’I’m confident that even if I charge in, I might get hurt, but my life won’t be in danger. Otherwise, I would’ve been long gone.’

With Li Qian joining the fight, the situation improved considerably. Although they were still barely holding on, it looked as though their lives weren’t in immediate danger.

’This can’t go on forever,’ Li Qian thought, frowning as he struggled to fend off the attacks.

In just that short amount of time, he had already sustained several wounds.

Lu Tianjiao’s ”old lover” had long, sharp claws, and she was incredibly fast. A single careless moment, a mere graze, was enough to leave another bloody gash on their bodies.

Just as Li Qian was deep in thought, a beam of milky-white light suddenly descended from the sky, enveloping Lu Tianjiao’s ”old lover.”

The sudden development startled them both, but their shock quickly turned to elation. Someone had finally come to their aid.

Li Qian looked toward the source of the milky-white light and immediately saw a white cat, roughly the size of a calf, hovering above them.

The white cat had three tails and a pair of feathered wings sprouting from its back.

It was Shamira, the evolved form of Duomila.

This soft, milky-white light was radiating from Shamira.

’That’s the Skill ”Purification,”’ Li Qian instantly assessed as he watched Shamira. ’And its proficiency isn’t low. It’s at least at Master Level.’

As the Purifying Light enveloped her, Lu Tianjiao’s ”old lover” began to give off bursts of a bizarre red glow.

”AHHHH...” At the same time, a bloodcurdling scream tore from her throat.
