Beast Taming: I'm Really Not a Cultivation Master

Chapter 274: Chapter 249: Xia Cunzhou’s Anger 3

Li Sukuai left after chatting with Xia Cunzhou for a little while. He didn’t stay long, having come and gone in a hurry.

It seemed he had come mainly to chat and catch up, but Xia Cunzhou knew his true intentions perfectly well.

The small talk was just a pretense. The man’s main purpose in coming over was to persuade him to poach someone.

In fact, it wasn’t just him. Shi Yulian and Sun Hongyi had come with the same goal in mind.

Never mind the personal benefits they would gain from successfully poaching the legendary Li Qian; just on an institutional level, the tangible rewards were too significant to ignore.

So, regardless of whether these people had their own ulterior motives, he picked up the phone and made a call.

”...The evolution methods for three Dominator Level Potential Pet Beasts and two Emperor Level Potential Pet Beasts. What? A genius like that is nothing in your eyes? Not worth your attention? Not worth a personal trip to Jiangnan Province?” Half an hour later, he had summoned the vice-principal in charge of admissions and was chewing him out.

Xia Cunzhou knew full well that, strictly speaking, this matter couldn’t truly be blamed on his long-time subordinate.

If the people under him were deceiving their superiors and slacking off, he might never have even heard the name Li Qian.

Xia Cunzhou’s assumption was correct. While annoyed at being reprimanded, the vice-principal in charge of admissions was also utterly shocked.

’To have researched the evolution methods for three Dominator Level Potential Pet Beasts and two Emperor Level ones right after graduating high school...’ This was the first time he had ever heard of such a monstrous genius.

Shock was followed by irrepressible anger. How could he have never once heard the admissions officers under him mention such a monstrous talent?

Considering the timing, he finally understood why Principal Xia Cunzhou was so furious.

’That monstrous genius must have already chosen another Beast Taming University by now.’

”Principal, this is indeed my responsibility. Some of the admissions officers under my command were negligent and failed to notice this in time.”

The vice-principal immediately took the blame, then quickly offered a suggestion. ”However, I believe the most important thing right now is to see if we can still recruit this genius student.”

”As long as he hasn’t officially enrolled, our university still has a chance...”

Hearing the vice-principal’s words, Xia Cunzhou shot him a cool glance. ”Did you really think I called you here just to give you a lecture?”

”Right, I understand. I’ll take action immediately and do my utmost to recruit Li Qian.” After hearing Xia Cunzhou, the vice-principal said he would ”do his utmost,” but the determination in his voice was unshakable.

If he weren’t afraid of truly being unable to sway him, he would have sworn a military oath on the spot.

Despite his confident words, his heart was filled with resentment toward the admissions officers under him.

’If they hadn’t been so negligent and had done their jobs properly, I wouldn’t be getting this earful.’

At this thought, he made up his mind. He couldn’t just swallow this anger; he had to find someone to take it out on.

He couldn’t show his displeasure to the old principal, but that didn’t mean he couldn’t let off some steam on his own subordinates.

”Go on.” Hearing what amounted to a promise, Xia Cunzhou’s expression softened a little.

He waved his hand, dismissing the vice-principal.

As the man was leaving, Xia Cunzhou suddenly remembered something and called out a reminder, ”Oh, and we have a good relationship with Old Pu’s people. Don’t make things too ugly.”

Xia Cunzhou’s last sentence served as both a reminder to the vice-principal and a piece of intelligence.

A prodigious talent like that, since he hadn’t chosen Zhonghai Beast Taming University, must have been recruited by one of the other top seven universities.

Combining that with Xia Cunzhou’s mention of ”Old Pu,” it was clear that the Genius Cultivator who had provoked the principal’s wrath must have been snatched up by Shazhou Beast Taming University.

At the thought of Shazhou Beast Taming University, the first image that popped into the vice-principal’s mind was the mature, captivating figure of Xue Huaiyu.

’Kids these days just can’t resist temptation...’ Discovering that the legendary Genius Cultivator had been recruited by Shazhou Beast Taming University, the vice-principal subconsciously assumed Li Qian had fallen for a honey trap. This gave him a renewed sense of confidence in his ability to poach him.

’Shazhou Beast Taming University has beautiful women? Well, Zhonghai Beast Taming University has them in spades.’

’As long as Li Qian is willing to come, he can have his pick of any type he desires, whether curvy or slim.’

’He wouldn’t even mind ”sacrificing” a few of his own ”star students” for the cause.’

In his mind, as long as a person had a weakness, there was nothing that couldn’t be accomplished by catering to it. The only question was the cost.

With the information from Xia Cunzhou, it didn’t take long for the vice-principal to pull up Li Qian’s file.

After reviewing Li Qian’s information, an expression of shock inevitably appeared on his face.

”A Cyan-Scaled Flood Dragon with Tier Five Dominator Potential.”

”A Frostfire Salamander with Tier Nine Dominator Potential.”

”An Extreme Fierce Storm Eagle with Tier One Dominator Potential.”

”An Extreme Fierce Sky Escape Eagle with Tier One Emperor Potential.”

”A Tidal Sea Spirit with Tier One Emperor Potential.”

The resources of a top-tier Beast Taming University were unimaginable.

In less than half a day, they had dug up most of Li Qian’s information.

Especially the section on his achievements.

Although he had already received the accurate information from Xia Cunzhou, seeing it with his own eyes was still a staggering experience for the vice-principal.

Such accomplishments would be astonishing even for a professor of breeding at a Beast Taming University, let alone a recent high school graduate.

What was more, according to the file, Li Qian had researched all of this in less than six months.

Of course, the evolution methods for both the Extreme Fierce Sky Escape Eagle and the Tidal Sea Spirit involved a bit of a shortcut.

He had directly obtained someone else’s nearly complete evolution formulas.

Then again, being able to trade for those evolution formulas was a testament to his own capabilities.

After all, Li Qian had paid for them with tangible results of his own.

After taking some time to read through Li Qian’s file, the vice-principal finally understood completely why the principal had been so furious.

Missing out on such a monstrous genius would indeed be a tremendous loss and a source of deep regret for the university.
