Beast Taming: I'm Really Not a Cultivation Master

Chapter 292: Chapter 264: Orientation

The woman with the fiery red, wavy hair left. Li Qian breathed a long sigh of relief and glanced over at Li Lanying, who was also wiping her forehead.

”Li Lanying, try not to be so reckless next time.”

Li Lanying was also feeling lucky. ’Dad always says to be careful when you’re away from home. Today was a good reminder.’

”And you, Fatty An. It’s a good thing she didn’t hear you. Otherwise, your situation might have been even worse than Li Lanying’s.”

Fatty An was indignant and retorted, ”What about me? It was just a normal compliment, a sign of appreciation. I didn’t say anything sleazy.”

”You should look in the mirror before you say that. The word ’perv’ is practically written on your face,” Li Qian mercilessly shot him down.

”Is it that obvious?” Fatty An’s expression soured.

As they talked, the group of four began to scan their surroundings.

It stood to reason that at this time of year, nearly every Beast Taming University would have reception points set up at transportation hubs like the Flying Ship Base, the high-speed rail station, or the Transmission Center.

And as it turned out, their guess was correct.

In the plaza just outside the Transmission Center, a short distance away, a few young students were holding up signs and looking around.

The four of them focused on the text on the signs, which listed the names of various Beast Taming Universities.

Among them, as one of the Eight Great, Shazhou Beast Taming University was listed right in the middle, in the most prominent spot.

”There’s the reception point for Shazhou Beast Taming University. Let’s go.”

Li Qian was about to walk over, but he suddenly froze.

Because at that very moment, he saw... the woman with the fiery red, wavy hair from just now was right there among the welcoming group.

She seemed to be either a teacher or a senior sister in charge of welcoming new students.

Well, this was awkward.

They had just gotten into a bit of a conflict with her, and now they had to go ask for her help. It felt more than a little embarrassing.

’What am I thinking? She’s probably a welcoming teacher or a senior sister. She definitely won’t hold a grudge over something like that.’

”Besides, Fatty An, weren’t you talking all high and mighty just a moment ago? Go on, you can go first.”

Li Qian pursed his lips and gestured for Fatty An to lead the way.

Fatty An’s attitude did a complete one-eighty. With a pained smile, he said, ”Don’t do this to me, man. I was just talking big...”

He shook his head like a bobblehead. ”Bro, I think I’ll sit this one out.”

’Given the power that woman just displayed, it’d be a piece of cake for her to leave a ”lasting impression” on me.’

The group of four, their faces a mixture of awkward expressions, hesitantly walked over.

In truth, they had considered just heading to the university and registering on their own. But they were in a completely new place and didn’t know their way around, which would be a real hassle, so they’d given up on that idea.

So they had no choice but to bite the bullet and walk over.

”Well, look at this. It seems we’re quite fated to meet, my dear juniors!” The woman with the red, wavy hair said as she watched the four approach, instantly guessing who they were.

Li Qian stepped forward confidently in front of the woman with the red, wavy hair and extended his hand. ”Hello, beautiful Senior Sister. I’m Li Qian, he’s An Junjie, and these two are Li Lanying and Tu Jiaojiao. We’re from Jiangnan Province, and we’re all incoming freshmen this year.”

Li Qian gave a simple introduction for the four of them.

”You’re a smooth one, junior.” The woman with the red, wavy hair nodded in satisfaction, particularly pleased with how he had addressed her. ”My name is Yi Hongling. I’m your senior sister.”

”Then we’ll have to trouble you to take us to the university, Senior Sister Yi,” Li Qian said politely.

”It’s no trouble. Welcoming you is my job, after all.” Yi Hongling waved her hand. She seemed like the type who didn’t sweat the small stuff, a very frank and open person.

Then, with Yi Hongling leading the way, the four of them followed her to a parking lot not far from the Transmission Center.

The four of them stared at a Roller Coaster with a special license plate, looks of astonishment on their faces. ”We’re taking a Roller Coaster to the university?”

”That’s right.” Yi Hongling nodded.

”Wow, Shazhou Beast Taming University really treats us well! Using a Roller Coaster just to pick up freshmen.” Fatty An was getting excited.

After all, while buying a Roller Coaster was easy enough in the city, getting a license plate that permitted it to fly was no simple task.

The fact that they used a Roller Coaster for welcoming new students was proof enough of how much Shazhou Beast Taming University valued its freshmen.

All four of them were thinking along the same lines. But soon, Yi Hongling’s next words shattered their fantasy. ”That’s not it. The reason we’re using the Roller Coaster is to welcome you all, but to be more precise, it’s to welcome Li Qian.”

”Me?” Li Qian pointed at his own nose in surprise.

Yi Hongling smiled and said, ”Don’t ask me why, because I don’t know either. These were the university’s instructions.”

Li Qian fell into thought upon hearing her words.

He had a pretty good idea why.

’After all, I’m different from Li Lanying and the others. I got into Shazhou Beast Taming University with a letter of recommendation, not a standard acceptance letter. I’m considered a special talent. A little special treatment is to be expected.’

The Roller Coaster was incredibly fast. In the blink of an eye, it was airborne, heading straight for the north.

Once the Roller Coaster was in the air, the four freshmen immediately looked out the windows.

From their high vantage point, they could see everything with perfect clarity.

The view was vast and open.

They could see almost the entire city laid out below them. It was nestled at the southern foot of a giant mountain.

The mountain was immense and majestic, its peak a vast expanse of white, clearly covered in snow year-round.

The melting snow formed a river that flowed down and pooled in the city’s South Suburb, creating a sizable lake.

It was this snow-capped mountain, this river, and this lake that had created an oasis here at the mountain’s southern foot.

Looking farther south, they could clearly see a patch of yellow sand in the distance—the vast, boundless desert and gobi.

Aboard the Roller Coaster, Yi Hongling glanced at the four freshmen who were pressed against the windows, gazing down at the magnificent city. She began her introduction. ”Shazhou Beast Taming University is located in the North Suburb of Shazhou City. It’s backed by the Langhuan Snow Mountain and covers an area of over ten thousand mu. It’s not only one of the Eight Great, but it’s also the largest and most powerful Beast Taming University in all of Shazhou City...”

When it came to Shazhou Beast Taming University, Senior Sister Yi Hongling spoke with an endless, gushing pride, a clear sign of how highly she regarded her school.

Li Qian listened attentively without saying much. He would be starting his studies at Shazhou Beast Taming University soon, so any little bit of information was good. He certainly wasn’t going to turn down a free briefing.
