Beast Taming: I'm Really Not a Cultivation Master

Chapter 88: Chapter 73: Decision 3

”You don’t have to leave. Just give me two minutes.” With that, she waved a hand at Li Qian, gesturing for him to wait, as she dialed a number on her phone.

Li Qian didn’t know who she was calling, but he was certain they weren’t just anyone. He soon found out, as Xue Huaiyu made no effort to hide the call, placing it right in front of him.

Judging by how Xue Huaiyu addressed the person on the other end, Li Qian gathered that it was likely the president of Shazhou Beast Taming University. Whether it was the head president or a vice president, he couldn’t tell.

The call lasted about three minutes. Xue Huaiyu hung up, then turned to Li Qian and nodded, her tone firm. ”It’s a go. If you choose to join our Shazhou Beast Taming University, we will immediately dispatch a Dominator Level Beast Master to ensure your safety until you start school.”

When Li Qian heard Xue Huaiyu’s affirmative answer, his own preference became clear. He smiled. ”I’d say that’s a very attractive offer.”

At that point, the discussion was more or less concluded. They exchanged a few more pleasantries before ending the meeting.

”Well then, Li Qian, I’ll be waiting for your good news,” Xue Huaiyu said with brimming confidence as she left the reception room, waving back inside.

The sight of this made Zhou Chubin, who was watching from a short distance away, frown. A sense of unease crept over him.

After Xue Huaiyu came Ai Xiaolian from Mizhou Beast Taming University. During their conversation, Li Qian learned about the terms they were offering. All in all, even after sweetening the deal, their offer was comparable to Jiangnan Beast Taming University’s, but it still fell short of what Shazhou Beast Taming University had proposed.

”So, Li Qian, what do you think of the offer from Mizhou Beast Taming University?” Ai Xiaolian asked with a hopeful expression after they finished their discussion.

Li Qian looked at Ai Xiaolian and offered a professional smile. ”It’s very good. Mizhou Beast Taming University has a very detailed plan for my future career path as a Breeder, and the accompanying resources sound quite tempting. I’ll give it serious consideration.”

That smile, which seemed perfectly standard yet devoid of any real sincerity, made Ai Xiaolian’s stomach drop.

Li Qian’s reaction gave her the feeling that he’d already made up his mind. ’Figures,’ she thought. ’It’s incredibly difficult for out-of-province schools like ours to compete with Jiangnan Beast Taming University.’

Yes, at that moment, she instinctively felt that Li Qian had already made his choice, and nine times out of ten, that choice was Jiangnan Beast Taming University.

After speaking with all three recruiters, Li Qian took some time to think that evening and made his decision. In truth, once he had a clear preference, the choice wasn’t difficult.

He picked up his phone and dialed a number he had saved just a short while ago. ”Teacher Xue, I hope I’ll be able to see you again in about three months.”

On the other end of the line, Xue Huaiyu’s excited voice rang out. ”Li Qian, am I to understand that you’ve chosen our Shazhou Beast Taming University?”

Although she was confident in the offer her university had made—so much so that she herself had been a bit shocked when she first heard it—she had been on pins and needles, waiting for Li Qian’s definitive answer.

Now, after hearing Li Qian’s words, she could finally breathe a sigh of relief. Li Qian didn’t mince words, adding through the receiver, ”I believe my meaning was perfectly clear.”

Xue Huaiyu could no longer suppress her smile. She said firmly, ”Trust me, Li Qian. You won’t regret the choice you’ve made today.”

Li Qian chuckled in response. ”I hope so, too.”
