Beast Taming: I'm Really Not a Cultivation Master

Chapter 70: Chapter 66: Student Recruitment 3

”To have taught a cultivation genius like Li Qian... your talent for teaching is truly astounding!”

Chu Xiran considered herself quite composed, but even so, she felt a little embarrassed by Xue Huaiyu’s barrage of compliments.

She quickly waved her hands to clarify, ”No, no, no. Li Qian’s accomplishments are mainly due to his own talent and hard work. It really doesn’t have much to do with me.”

This was the truth, but Xue Huaiyu acted as if she hadn’t heard, continuing to pour on the praise. ”Talent is common, but those who can recognize it are rare. Student Li Qian is the talent, and you, Teacher Chu, are the one who discovered him...”

Listening to this string of sickeningly sweet compliments, Zhou Chubin, who stood beside them, couldn’t help but frown.

’My decision to seek out Chu Xiran was definitely the right one.’

’The problem is... I ran into Xue Huaiyu.’

’If I let her keep buttering up Chu Xiran, all my hard work will have been for nothing.’

So, he cleared his throat and spoke up, remarking casually, ”Yes, Teacher Chu is indeed very outstanding.”

”After all, she’s also a graduate of our very own Jiangnan Beast Taming University.”

Far from being concerned, the delight on Xue Huaiyu’s face grew even more pronounced. ”So Teacher Chu also graduated from a prestigious university! No wonder you’re so outstanding.”

”However, for a high school teacher as exceptional as yourself, Teacher Chu, it’s a waste of your talents to stay at Lingshui City Beast Taming High School.”

”I wonder if you might be interested in coming to our Shazhou, Teacher Chu. I can recommend you for a teaching position at the high school affiliated with our Shazhou Beast Taming University.”

Even if Shazhou was remote, it was still a provincial capital, so the high school affiliated with Shazhou Beast Taming University was naturally in a different league than Lingshui City Beast Taming High School.

To be honest, Chu Xiran was a little tempted when she first heard the offer, but her heart quickly settled.

She hadn’t come to Lingshui City Beast Taming High School just to teach.

The reason she, Zhu Bingqing, and even that seemingly unreliable blond, Niu Fenjin, were in Lingshui City was for an extraordinary mission.

She couldn’t just leave Lingshui City.

Therefore, she replied almost without hesitation, ”Thank you for your high regard, Teacher Xue, but I’ve grown accustomed to life in Lingshui City and have no plans to develop my career elsewhere for now.”

With that said, she quickly changed the subject. ”By the way, Teachers, we’re already at the entrance to Li Qian’s family’s Cultivation Base. Let’s not waste any more time out here. We should head in.”

”Teacher Chu has a point.” Xue Huaiyu nodded, then linked arms with Chu Xiran and headed straight into the base.

Nearby, Zhou Chubin’s eye twitched as he watched this unfold.

’In the end, I still ended up doing all the legwork for that woman, Xue Huaiyu.’

’But what can I do? She’s a woman. That’s an advantage I can’t compete with. I can’t just go and link arms with Chu Xiran, can I?’

Sigh...!

’It’s a bitter pill to swallow, but I have no choice.’

The three entered in single file.

The gatekeeper, Uncle Zhang, simply asked a few questions and let them in.

Are you kidding? Two of them were recruitment teachers from a Beast Taming University, and the third was his own young boss’s high school teacher. He wasn’t about to stand in their way.

Besides, they were here to see the young boss, so they must have important business; they definitely weren’t here to cause trouble.

He could tell as much from the enthusiastic tone of the proprietress on the phone.

Indeed, he had already notified Han Yuqing via the guardhouse telephone, and the answer he received was, naturally, a warm welcome.

It was predictable that Han Yuqing would give them a warm welcome. After all, this concerned her son’s future.

As the three entered the Cultivation Base, they observed their surroundings while walking. Xue Huaiyu couldn’t help but frown. ”Li Qian researched the evolution method from Koi Carp to Cyan-Scaled Flood Dragon in such a simple environment?”

She directed this question at Chu Xiran.

Hearing this, Chu Xiran gave an awkward laugh. ”Actually, his family only recently acquired this Cultivation Base. Before this, Li Qian was doing all his research by himself...”

As she spoke, her voice unconsciously grew a few shades quieter.

It couldn’t be helped. Back then, she never imagined Li Qian would conduct such a major study, much less that he would achieve such an incredible result.

That was why, when it came to his research, she hadn’t offered any help at all back then.

This was also why she was somewhat embarrassed to mention it.

Just as the three were walking, touring the grounds, and chatting casually, an approaching figure caught Chu Xiran’s attention.

This person was none other than Niu Fenjin, the one she had asked to come and teach Li Qian about arrays and help him set up the Frostfire Array.
