Beast Taming: I'm Really Not a Cultivation Master

Chapter 52: Chapter 50: Ah Fu’s Evolution

Ah Fu had met the conditions for evolution, but that didn’t mean it would smoothly become a Cyan-Scaled Flood Dragon.

The Climbing Waterfall trial was also a huge test.

”Uncle An, I have a Koi Carp that’s ready to evolve,” Li Qian said over the phone. ”How are things coming along with the arrangements we discussed?”

On the other end of the line, An Hou Nian’s voice came through. ”Xiaotian, I’ve been working on finding an Evolutionary Ground from the start. However, a waterfall with a drop of over a hundred meters really doesn’t exist in Lingshui City. I’ve also investigated the surrounding areas. From the looks of it, the Yunwu Mountain Scenic Area is truly the best choice.”

”Alright, please contact the scenic area management. We’ll need at least one night. Oh, and about this, Captain Liu Changfeng of the Yunlan City Special Operations Team might be able to help,” Li Qian said.

He knew very well that such a place was a rare find, and it was useless to make things difficult for An Hou Nian.

However, he still had some misgivings. He always felt that there was more to Yunwu Mountain than met the eye.

’Was the attack by the Ancient Divine Teachings cultists last time really just an accident?’

After two more days of further training at the base, on Wednesday, Li Qian set off for Yunlan City with his mother, Han Yuqing, and Fatty An.

Accompanying them were Fatty An’s Tan Tou, Liu Changfeng’s Ah Long, and the three Koi Carp from the base with the highest Potential.

The group arrived at the high-speed rail station.

Liu Changfeng was already waiting at the exit. ”Student Li Qian, welcome back to Yunlan City.”

”I’ll be responsible for your safety this time. By the way, did you bring Ah Long?”

Li Qian handed over a Beast Taming Ball. ”The Koi Carp you chose is excellent. It trains very hard.”

In terms of Potential alone, Ah Long and Tan Tou were neck and neck.

However, Ah Long had a better personality, a bit like Qizai’s. It was extremely diligent in its training, and Li Qian had higher hopes for it.

The large group headed straight for the Yunwu Mountain Scenic Area.

”Student Li Qian, the scenic area management just sent a message. The area around Hundred Feet Waterfall has been cleared. From now until five in the morning tomorrow, no tourists will be there,” said Liu Changfeng.

By now, the sky was dark. It was already ten o’clock at night.

Li Qian nodded. ”Then let’s go.”

Before they even got close, still two or three hundred meters from Hundred Feet Waterfall, they saw a sign.

”Dear Visitors, the facilities at the Hundred Feet Waterfall attraction ahead are currently under maintenance and temporarily closed. We apologize for the inconvenience.”

There was also police tape put up.

This was clearly Liu Changfeng’s handiwork. Li Qian gave him a grateful look. ”Captain Liu, thank you for going to the trouble.”

”It was nothing.” Liu Changfeng waved his hand dismissively.

The group arrived at the edge of the pool at the bottom of Hundred Feet Waterfall.

”Qizai, you come out too!” Having reached their destination, Li Qian wasted no time and summoned Qizai.

SPLASH! Qizai plunged into the water, its dragon head emerging with a look of anticipation in its eyes.

After all, Ah Fu was its old comrade-in-arms.

After summoning Qizai, Li Qian immediately released the star of the show, Ah Fu.

In addition, Tan Tou, Ah Long, and the three Koi Carp from the base that had learned Climbing Waterfall were also released.

Seeing that Li Qian was ready, Fatty An and Liu Changfeng tactfully withdrew behind the police tape.

The method of evolution was a Breeder’s core secret. If Li Qian didn’t explicitly invite them to stay, deliberately remaining would be a great offense.

Last time, Fatty An hadn’t understood these things, and Li Qian hadn’t realized either. This time was different; An Hou Nian had reminded him beforehand.

Liu Changfeng had also seen Qizai’s evolution last time, but by the time he noticed, Qizai was already about to reach the top.

He also hadn’t been able to make out what Li Qian had thrown in the darkness.

In short, last time, both of them had their reasons—they either hadn’t realized or hadn’t had the chance to leave.

This time, they couldn’t knowingly make the same mistake.

Seeing Fatty An and Liu Changfeng tactfully leave, Li Qian didn’t say anything. Since it was a rule among Breeders in this world, there was no need for him to be unconventional.

Besides, when it came down to it, this rule also protected his own interests.

”Mom, sign the contract with Ah Fu first.” Instead of starting immediately, Li Qian turned his gaze to his mother, Han Yuqing.

His mother, Han Yuqing, had already been told what to do, so she didn’t hesitate and signed the contract with Ah Fu.

Ah Fu had been raised in Li Qian’s home for nearly twenty years and had an emotional bond with all three members of his family.

Signing a Soul Contract with Han Yuqing was perfectly acceptable to it.

The contract was quickly signed. Li Qian wasted no more time, took out the Dragon Bone Powder, and fed it to Ah Fu.

After swallowing a sufficient amount of Dragon Bone Powder, Ah Fu immediately began to charge toward the waterfall.

Soon, it became a line of water, moving against the current up the cascading waterfall.

While watching this scene, Li Qian, just like last time, began to climb the stone steps beside the waterfall.

Unlike with Qizai’s evolution, this time, he was more worried.

He knew that although the evolutionary conditions for both were identical, Qizai’s Spirit Attribute was clearly higher than Ah Fu’s.

Qizai could grit its teeth and persevere to the top of the waterfall, but Ah Fu might not be able to.

As Li Qian had thought, at about two-thirds of the way up, Ah Fu could no longer climb.

Seeing this, Li Qian shook his head.

”Looks like it’s going to be a failure today,” he muttered to himself.

Fortunately, things were different now. He was no longer in a financial crisis, and his Crystal Necklace contained over a hundred jin of Dragon Bone Powder, enough for it to squander.

If tonight was unsuccessful, they would have to go back and rest, then try again tomorrow night. If tomorrow night also failed, it would just have to be postponed further.

Li Qian wasn’t short on time. At school, now that he had awakened, he had relatively more freedom, and the teachers didn’t manage him much.

But even if he wasn’t short on time and had the chance to try again, he didn’t want to have to take it.

Succeeding on the first try was, of course, the best outcome.

It wasn’t an issue of morale waning with each attempt. Rather, Li Qian could clearly feel that a Cyan-Scaled Flood Dragon that succeeded on its first try would definitely have higher potential in the future.

Frowning as he watched Ah Fu, which was already at the end of its rope, an idea struck Li Qian. He contacted Qizai through their Soul Contract.

Following his command, Qizai also used the Climbing Waterfall Skill. With its current Flood Dragon body, using this skill to climb the Hundred Feet Waterfall was a piece of cake.

Its speed was extremely fast, and the line of water it kicked up was unusually thick. In just a moment, it reached Ah Fu’s side and then surpassed it.

Qizai’s intervention pushed aside much of the waterfall’s flow, as if opening an umbrella for Ah Fu. The pressure on Ah Fu immediately lessened significantly.

Ah Fu resumed its climb. With Qizai clearing the way, it was still difficult, but with the force of the current greatly diminished, it finally made it up without any further mishaps.
