Chapter 203: Chapter 201: The Bizarre Murder Case

Half an hour later, Xiao Tian drove to the West City Branch.

He pushed open the door, and only Yu Ningxue was in the spacious hall.

At that moment, Yu Ningxue was sitting at the table sorting through documents and hadn’t noticed that Xiao Tian had entered. She looked troubled, clearly having no leads.

Yu Ningxue’s brows were slightly furrowed; from Xiao Tian’s direction, he could only see her fair profile, and her long eyelashes were particularly captivating.

Seeing that Yu Ningxue hadn’t noticed him, Xiao Tian smirked mischievously. Then he strolled over to Yu Ningxue’s back.

”Hehe!”

Xiao Tian chuckled, extending his large hand to embrace Yu Ningxue from behind. The soft sensation and a faint fragrance from Yu Ningxue permeated his senses.

”Ah!”

Yu Ningxue suddenly felt someone hold her and couldn’t help but exclaim. Just as she was about to break free, she sensed a familiar presence.

”Are you crazy!” Yu Ningxue glared at Xiao Tian with a blushing face. Although she said so, her resistance unconsciously softened.

Xiao Tian continued to hold her, placing a hand on Yu Ningxue’s silky hair. He wondered how her hair was kept so smooth, like silk passing through his fingers—was it perhaps thanks to some shampoo?

”What are you doing?” Seeing Xiao Tian pushing further, Yu Ningxue anxiously blushed and tried to push away Xiao Tian’s mischievous hand.

”Who asked you to seduce me just now?” Xiao Tian grinned mischievously.

”Who seduced you? I was just joking!”

With his strength, Yu Ningxue had no way to deal with him.

Yu Ningxue’s face reddened as she scolded, ”This is the police station, you know.”

”There’s nobody here anyway!” Xiao Tian completely ignored her.

Yu Ningxue finally rolled her eyes helplessly. There’s no reasoning with this jerk!

”Hmph, I don’t have the strength he has!” Yu Ningxue comforted herself, allowing Xiao Tian to hold her.

Yu Ningxue’s face rested on Xiao Tian’s chest as she listened to his strong heartbeat, feeling a sensation she couldn’t describe.

----

However, at that moment, the phone on the nearby table rang inopportunely.

Upon hearing the sound, Yu Ningxue blushed and broke free from Xiao Tian’s embrace, glaring at him fiercely before picking up the phone.

”Hello, West City Branch.” Yu Ningxue said.

”What?? Where?”

Upon hearing that another murder case had occurred in the city, Yu Ningxue’s expression turned serious immediately.

”Okay! We will head over right now!” After hanging up the phone, Yu Ningxue’s face was full of anger.

”That beast! Absolutely no regard for our police station!”

Yu Ningxue shouted angrily. Just since last night, the police station had received three reports, all murder cases.

As a result, every police station in Shanghai had deployed all their forces, yet they couldn’t even find a trace of this criminal.

Most terrifyingly, the murders hadn’t stopped. It’s a complete disregard and challenge to their police station!

Yu Ningxue clenched her fists angrily. Everyone at the station didn’t want her to come into contact with such cases because she’s a woman, but Yu Ningxue was unwilling to back down.

”The caller was very frightened; it’s possible the criminal is still at the scene!” Yu Ningxue grabbed her car keys and rushed out of the police station. Obviously, this killer had completely enraged her, and she vowed to bring the criminal to justice.

Seeing Yu Ningxue filled with determination, Xiao Tian smiled and quickly followed.

Yu Ningxue drove the police car to the crime scene, and during the ride, she tossed over a pile of photos and documents from the scene.

”Take a look, the killer is extremely cruel. No corpses are left behind, only the victims’ blood or dismembered body parts.” Yu Ningxue said gravely to Xiao Tian.

From the time the case was reported until now, she increasingly felt that this was not merely a simple murder case.

It’s been a week already. The city’s surveillance is ubiquitous, like the Eye of Heaven, yet this mysterious criminal hadn’t left a single trace.

What’s most terrifying is that the criminal’s actions have never stopped. He continues to play with the police, and the number of victims continues to rise.

Yu Ningxue had encountered many formidable robbers and kidnappers during her time at the police station. Some, like Lone Wolf, were notorious figures who could suppress countless police officers.

But this time, they didn’t even know who their opponent was. It was their first time experiencing such a situation!

As Xiao Tian looked at the documents in his hand, an inexplicable sense of unease emerged in his heart.

----

Twenty minutes later, the police car stopped at the entrance of a long-closed department store.

The department store had been abandoned for years, and for some reason, had never been demolished. It was dilapidated, with trash flying everywhere, resembling an apocalyptic film Xiao Tian had seen before.

Yu Ningxue was the first to get out of the police car, surveying the surroundings and noticing that no one seemed to be around.

”This is the address the caller gave.”

After searching for a while and not finding anyone, Yu Ningxue was a bit annoyed and said, ”Could it be a false alarm?”

At that moment, Xiao Tian’s gaze finally locked onto a figure in the distance. The person was crouched in front of an abandoned staircase, making them hard to spot.

”Found them.” Xiao Tian said directly. Following his line of sight, Yu Ningxue also saw the figure ahead and quickly caught up.

A man was crouching with his head in his hands in front of the abandoned staircase, shaking all over, clearly terrified.

Yu Ningxue hurriedly asked, ”Are you the one who called the police?”

The man remained silent, still holding his head. Xiao Tian walked over and patted him on the shoulder.

”Ah!!”

After being patted on the shoulder by Xiao Tian, the man immediately shouted.

”Don’t kill me, don’t kill me!!!!” The man was so frightened that he knelt on the ground.

Seeing the man’s state, Xiao Tian frowned. It seemed the man had witnessed something.

”Calm down, sir. We are the police! Were you the one who called the police earlier?” Yu Ningxue helped the man up, revealing their identity.

”Police??” Upon hearing the word police, the man slowly lifted his head, seeing Yu Ningxue in her police uniform as if he had seen his savior.

”What exactly happened?” Xiao Tian asked.

The man swallowed hard, still shaky, and said, ”I just got off work and was passing by here... When suddenly, a black shadow appeared in front of me. Before I realized it, the person in front of me turned into a pool of blood... It’s terrifying... too terrifying.”

”What black shadow?” Xiao Tian asked urgently.

The man shook his head fearfully, his eyes darting around, ”I don’t know... I don’t know, it disappeared in an instant... Don’t kill me, don’t kill me!!!”

With that, the man frantically fled from the scene.

Xiao Tian looked helpless. It seemed this man had indeed been scared out of his wits.
