Chapter 689: Chapter 689: Old Master Song’s Goodwill_1

Seeing Jiang Chen and his two companions descend, the elderly man stepped forward to Jiang Chen’s side. Li Zhen and another swiftly approached, keeping the elderly man separated from the plane’s exit stairs, which two middle-aged men had just emerged from.

Glancing at the old man standing aside, the two middle-aged men seemed agitated again, but Yan Hu and Leng Ye were standing beside Jiang Chen, staring them down intently. This made the two men somewhat apprehensive; after struggling for a bit, they headed towards the exit.

”Instructor Jiang, thank you!” said the elderly man earnestly, looking at Jiang Chen.

”Elder Master, there’s no need for thanks. Compared to your contributions, what I’ve done is nothing!” Jiang Chen replied with admiration in his eyes.

He had already recognized the elderly man.

It mystified him why the other party had not taken a private jet but instead flew commercial.

”Good, I look forward to seeing your performance in Jincheng,” said the elderly man, gently patting Jiang Chen on the shoulder.

Jiang Chen smiled faintly and glanced towards the exit. He spoke in a low voice, ”Elder Master, do you need us to accompany you?”

No sooner had he asked this question than Jiang Chen knew it was needless. Approaching from the direction of the exit were two elderly men dressed in suits, heading straight for the Elder Master. These two were also Innate Grandmasters.

”It seems that’s not necessary. We’ll be leaving first!” Jiang Chen answered his own question and turned toward the exit. Ye Jingyi and her two companions nodded at the Elder Master and followed Jiang Chen.

”Grandfather, this Jiang Chen sure knows his place. I thought he would insist on sending us home!” the young woman remarked quietly, watching the backs of Jiang Chen and his friends.

The elderly man smiled warmly, his eyes filled with approval. ”This young man has a proud spirit. Although he helped me, it certainly wasn’t because of my high position, but rather out of gratitude for my contributions to Flame Dragon. He is truly a patriotic man.”

”Could it be that he had absolutely no intention of currying favor with you?” Li Zhen asked softly.

The elderly man shook his head. ”Not at all, this youngster... is not the kind to seek advantages by fawning over others. If the major families had more people like him, how wonderful that would be!”

By then, the two elderly men in suits had already reached the elderly man’s side, bowed slightly to him, and looked towards the exit, whispering, ”Old Master Song, the two people who just left belong to Beihai National, both are Innate Grandmasters. The other group also had an Innate Grandmaster. Nothing happened on your flight, I hope?”

”An interesting incident did occur.” Old Master Song replied with a slight smile, gesturing with his hand, ”Let’s go, head home.”

...

Jincheng International Airport Exit.

A line of Rolls-Royce Phantoms was parked by the roadside outside the airport exit. Butler Lu stood by the vehicles with a team of men in black suits, quietly waiting.

”Whose family is this? Quite lavish, huh?”

”That’s the Jiang Family’s fleet. The elderly man in the suit in the middle is Elder Master Jiang’s personal butler, Lu Yongnian. I saw him from a distance once at a banquet.”

”Elder Master Jiang’s personal butler? Are they here to pick up Elder Master Jiang? Why isn’t he by Elder Master Jiang’s side?”

”No, if Elder Master Jiang were to leave Jincheng, he would definitely be by his side.”

”Then who are they here to pick up?”

”I heard that the legitimate eldest grandson of the Jiang Family has been found. Could it be that he’s the one they are welcoming?”

”Really? Doesn’t the Jiang Family already have a Family Head? This is... this is going to be exciting!”

Some passersby near the exit gate began to whisper to one another when they saw Butler Lu and others waiting.

Realizing that it might be the arrival of the Jiang Family’s legitimate eldest grandson, everyone lingered instead of leaving, each hoping to catch a glimpse of what the legitimate eldest grandson of the Jiang Family looked like.

The two middle-aged men from Beihai National who emerged from the exit frowned slightly upon overhearing the bystanders’ comments and exchanged glances, as if realizing something, then stood aside and waited as well.

Suddenly, Butler Lu, who had been standing by the road and waiting, wore a hint of a smile and stepped toward the four people coming out of the exit.

”Hey, look, Butler Lu is moving!”

”Over there, a handsome guy and two beauties are coming out. Could that be the Jiang Family’s legitimate eldest grandson?”

”It seems so, Butler Lu is heading over!”

The waiting passersby pointed at Jiang Chen and his companions emerging from the exit and started chatting. Meanwhile, the two middle-aged men’s eyes revealed a sly gleam.

”Yamada, that brat who spoiled our plans turns out to be the Jiang Family’s legitimate eldest grandson, this could be troublesome!” one of the middle-aged men said coldly.

Yamada chuckled, ”Sanben, it’s not troublesome at all. Haven’t you heard? The Family Head of the Jiang Family doesn’t seem to like this legitimate eldest grandson very much. Perhaps, we can let him settle this account.”

”This...” Sanben looked at Yamada, and said hesitantly, ”That old thing from the Jiang Family used to loathe our country. Would their Family Head really help us?”

”That old thing is that old thing, their Family Head is their Family Head. Sanben, you should never underestimate human greed. According to Jiang Family rules, only direct descendants can be the Family Head. The current Family Head is from a collateral line, and now the legitimate eldest grandson has returned. Do you think their Family Head will willingly give up his position?” Yamada said with a light laugh.

Sanben’s eyes brightened as he nodded slyly, ”I get it, Yamada. Let’s develop that Family Head of the Jiang Family into our inside man for Beihai National. Perhaps, we can even use him to take control of the entire Jiang Family!”

The two exchanged a look and smirked coldly, then glanced at Jiang Chen one more time before turning to leave.

The exit gate.

”Young Master, Young Madam,” Butler Lu approached Jiang Chen and the others, bowing respectfully.

Ye Jingyi’s cheeks flushed slightly, and she nodded shyly.

This time, when Jiang Chen returned to the Jiang Family, Ye Jingyi, Gong Lin, and Ye Yuwan had discussed among themselves. Gong Lin and Ye Yuwan unanimously decided that Ye Jingyi should accompany Jiang Chen back. They knew well that Ye Jingyi’s place in Jiang Chen’s heart was irreplaceable by anyone else.

As this was Ye Jingyi’s first visit to the Jiang Family home as a daughter-in-law, the thought of soon meeting Jiang Chen’s family, and a whole host of them at that, made Ye Jingyi understandably nervous!

”Butler Lu, these people are...” Jiang Chen glanced at the team of men in black suits by the road and spoke with a hint of confusion.

”These are the bodyguards that the Young Master deserves!” Butler Lu said with a chuckle.

Jiang Chen looked surprised for a moment. There were twelve men standing by the road: two Heavenly Peak Martial Artists leading ten Earth Level Martial Artists. Such a force would be guests of honor in any major family in Dingjing and Jinhai, yet here in Jincheng, they were merely the protective staff for a top-tier family’s legitimate eldest grandson.

This goes to show that the waters in Jincheng run much deeper than those in Dingjing and Jinhai!

However, they were of no real use to him.

Perhaps this was just the facade that was expected of him.

Muttering to himself, Jiang Chen stepped toward the fleet of cars.
